Is there some kind of rating system for HOG's somewhere? Like "out of 5 stars I give this one a 4". There are soooo many HOG's out there I have lost track of which ones I thought I would buy. Some that I have bought I am totally immersed in and will replay while others I regret buying. Usually, the demo helps with the decision but not always. GameBoomers' opinions go a long way with me.

I'm afraid you'll have to look up the old threads and see what folks had to say. It's too varied anyways to rate since we all like different things. Some like timers, mini games etc, some don't. We'd agree to disagree... You can find reviews with ratings on www.gamezebo.com though.

I usually check the user reviews at Gamezebo. But Ana is right -- sometimes I buy a game with mediocre reviews and really like it. Other times I've bought one with great reviews and don't like it. Trying out a demo is probably the best way to decide if you like a game, and user reviews give some idea of the length of the game.

Maybe they could be rated on objective points, like clarity, ease, and size of objects, story lines, timers and mini games. But in the end,I guess whether you like it or not will still be based on personal opinion.

I also check Gamezebo's reviews but games are such a personal thing that everyone has their own preferences as to themes, gameplay, etc. I also like to buy games that are challenging BUT I also buy games that are easy. I play whatever I feel like depending on my mood (sometimes I just want easy seek & find).

I pretty much download every demo of a new HOG that comes out and know within a matter of mins whether it's a keeper, a maybe or a no.

Sometimes games surprise me too. I wasn't interested in the theme of the Day Dream series at all (weddings don't interest me) but I loved the series. Go figure! smile

Having said all that, I buy almost every HOG that comes out.

I find the best thing to do, is read the main thread of each game. That way you can see everyones comments and you will know if it's something you like. I had a thread once asking what your favorite mini games are and we all had different likes and strong dislikes. You just never know. I personally think the hour free trial is the best feature because no one knows what I like better than I. lol

Yeah, that all makes sense. Vive la difference! That's what GameBoomers is all about.
