Can someone give me a list of interactive HOGS like Mortimer Beckett, Mystery Island and Magic Encyclopedia?

I am really enjoying them and want to be sure I didn't miss any of them.

This is a great idea, NYLady! I'd love to see a list too.

I don't have one, but I can contribute:

Samantha Swift
Natalie Brooks
Escape the Museum

Maybe if people add the ones they know of, (interactive in whole or in part), there'll be a complete list at the end!

(If I'm wrong on any of these games, feel free to correct!)

Great question NY, that's my favorite kind of HOG.

Wooo hoooo I don't have Escape the Museum... I thought at the time it was too hard, but now that I have the hang of this type of game... I'm off I go to buy credits. laugh bravo yay

Can anyone think of any others? (Even ones not out yet.) I guess we'll have to call the IHOGS. laugh

How do you distinguish Interactive HOGs from the other kind?
If a HOG has "replace the objects" levels like The Clumsys, does that make it "interactive?" Is Musaic Box "interactive" because you open things with a key sometimes?

Mystery of the Crystal Portal may qualify as interactive because sometimes you put things back into the picture to unlock areas.

I don't think just putting them back would qualify as IHOG... what do you all think? Personally I don't like putting them back... it isn't much of a challenge.

All the latest ones are great,
Treasures of Mystery Island
Magic Encyclopedia
Mushroom Age
Natalie Brook

They kind of spoil it for str8 forward HOG's, now it's too boring to just look for things. First it was the mini games, now it has to be interactive. I wonder what will be next. The more interactive the better for me.

We've left out one of the most interactive games of all --
Azada Ancient Magic.

The first Azada also had some "adventure-like" puzzle areas where you'd interact with objects in a room.

I don't consider Azada a HOG though.

I'm trying Escape the Museum again and it is good but very very had. The objects are very hard to find.

I guess a definition of what an IHOG is would be helpful. NYLady, would it be fair to say that your intent is to identify HOGS where you either find objects, or find pieces of objects to assemble, that are then used either in that same scene or another scene, to find more items or open up areas?

If yes, then some are more interactive than others. Hidden Expedition Amazon kind of tiptoes into that, while Samantha Swift, Mortimer Beckett, Magic Encyclopedia, and Treasures of Mystery Island are all about that.

I don't know that I would include Moonlight Sonatas. It's a HOG, with interesting puzzles, but not so much interactive in the same sense as Mortimer Beckett.

On the other hand, the Azada and Dream Chronicles games are not HOGs, but do have IHOG elements. Ditto for 4 Elements, which has 4 rather nice IHOG puzzles in an otherwise non-HOG game.

At any rate, I put together a list of the HOGs I've found to date. So far, that's 120 games! I thought I'd use that to ID the interactive ones, I just didn't realize the list would be so long... And I discarded some, like the Go-Go-Gourmet and Azada and Dream Chronicles games...

I'll see what I can do, but if anyone wants to help, send me an email! I have an Excel file all ready to send!

I went through my list, and used a) game reviews; b) a few game trials and replays of games that I had; and c) my own sketchy memory, and came up with this list of IHOGs:

Curse of the Pharaoh
Escape the Museum
Hidden Secrets: The Nightmare
Laura Jones and the Gates of Good and Evil
Magic Encyclopedia
Mortimer Becket and the Secrets of Spooky Manor
Mushroom Age
Mystery of the Crystal Portal
Natalie Brooks: Secrets of Treasure House
Neptune's Secret
Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena
Sultan's Labyrinth
Treasure Masters, Inc.
Treasures of Mystery Island

I have a second list of HOGs that have some interactive elements:

Agatha Christie: Peril at End House
Amazing Finds
Cassandra's Journey: The Legacy of Nostradamus
The Clumsys
Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets
Dream Day Wedding: Married in Manhattan
Hidden Expedition: Amazon
Hide & Secret 2: Cliffhanger Castle
Mystery of Unicorn Castle
Mystery Stories: Island of Hope
Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet
Women's Murder Club - Death in Scarlet
Yard Sale Hidden Treasures: Sunnyville

And of course there are new games a-comin!

Is Hidden Secrets: The Nightmare a HOG? I think it is puzzle or adventure.

NYLady - You're probably right. It was listed under "Hidden Object Games", and I kind of remembered it having interactivity, so voila! My sketchy memory.

misa - I sent you the list.

I have no idea what Azada is, but I am playing the first one, even with the timer, I LOVE it. I guess it isn't HOG except in parts, guess it's a Puzzle game, but man, it has some funs!

Is this an IHOG? I played the demo and don't recall seeing it as interactive. (I could be wrong).

No, it's a straight HOG with some mini-games and only a handful of interactive scenes.

How about The Sultan's Labyrinth? Wasn't that an IHOG?
