Though I glad for our genre to see the announcements for all the new games, I've been disappointed by the dearth of first person puzzlers - the type of games like Rhem where there is minimal inventory and interaction with characters.
On my list I've got:
Rhem 4
Corrosion Cold Winter
The Dead Device
Slip Space Burma Shave
Aurora Secret Within (apparently buggy)
Pieces of Eight
Prominence
Darkness Within 2
Casebook Episode 2: The Watcher
Return to Mysterious Island II
Agon 5: The Tale of the Four Dragons
Aura III: Catharsis
Coven
Deep Sleep
Last Half of Darkness: The Tomb of Zojir
Nancy Drew: Ransom of the Seven Ships

Aurora was canceled by the publisher colpet but you can get it via download already. You may wish to read the threads on it before you do though.

Hi Colpet

Would Darkness Within 2 & Prominence fit into your category?

Darkness 2 would, but Prominence is 3rd person according to AG.
Ana - Thanks for the heads up about Aurora (apparently very glitchy).

Hey Colpet

You and I have very similar tastes in our adventure gaming including all on your list. My 2 most anticipated games are:
Rhem 4 ((sure hope its not the last)
Prominence (has what I like, 1st person, Sci Fi, solo exploration)

Is there still hope for the Dead Device and Ivinias Ravens Hollow?

To expand the list a bit -- these look like they are first person games judging from the screenshots in the galleries, or they are produced by developers who in the past have given us first person games. So I'm not 100 percent certain of their first person-ness, but they are at least worth watching, I think. laugh

Casebook Episode 2: The Watcher
Return to Mysterious Island II
Agon 5: The Tale of the Four Dragons
Aura III: Catharsis
Coven
Deep Sleep
Last Half of Darkness: The Tomb of Zojir
Nancy Drew: Ransom of the Seven Ships
Rinascimento

I'm not sure about the character interaction aspect. Do you find that Nancy Drew games have more character interaction than you would like?

I don't mind it too much in the ND games. They usually have lots of puzzles, even if a few are arcade style. I was under the impression that the newer ND games were 3rd person,, but maybe that was just the Hardy Boys.
Thanks for the added list. I'm researching them now happydance
Deep Sleep googles as a 1st person shooter
Rinascimento is apparently 3rd person (AG)
Case Book games are keyboard controlled (so not in my radar)

I think the character interaction aspect in the Nancy Drew series varies from game to game. I thought there was very little in The Legend of the Crystal Skull & The Haunting of Castle Malloy both of which I found to be more intensively puzzle focused than the others. smile

First person shooter? lol Yes, I'd better look a bit more closely at that one.

I think there might be two different "Deep Sleep" games. The one from Streko-Graphics is here.

You can play Casebook by using a mouse only, keyboard controls are just an option.

I don't think Rinascimento is 3rd person.
Check the screenshots at Adventuregamers.

I think you only see characters during cut scenes.
Maybe AG made a mistake in their description.

Rinascimento is definitely third-person (confirmed directly by the developers). It's not uncommon for early renders to only include the prerendered backgrounds without the characters included.

Prominence is indeed first-person. Just a database error on our part. Oops. Sorry about the confusion. (But see, if we just label everything third-person, we'll be right more often than not nowadays. laugh )

Oh well. At least we know for sure now.
Thanks for letting us know.

And therein the reason for the list.

The types of puzzles I like best only rarely appear in 3rd person games. Unfortunately not all 1st person games have them either. They tend to be the types of puzzles that some people complain about because they're "not integrated with the story." I don't care if they're integrated or not. I only care that they're fun for me to figure out.

That list is looking pretty substantial, now, or am I too much of an optimist?

Looks like the earliest one, Return to Mysterious Island 2, is coming out in June. No word on the others -- at least not on the Upcoming Games page.

I think Casebook Episode 2 will be releasing within the next few weeks. Now that I think about it, Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper will have a first person perspective option, though it will probably have more character interaction than in the Nancy Drew games.

Hi Jenny -- I don't think they've solved the problem with lip synching the English language version, so it hasn't been localized for the English language market.
