Has Mozart been taken off? I was really looking forward to it.

If there's any updated info about an English language version, we'll put it back on the Recent & Upcoming Games page. I agree, it looked quite intriguing.

It's still alive. I have received a review copy for a different web site. The Dutch version of the game will be published at the end of this month. Not sure about other languages. The review copy I am playing is in English although it appears to be a beta version. Not sure if I am allowed to talk about it. I will give you a short translated summary of my preview when I've published it.

Thank you... I have been expecting this game as well, very curious.

There's definitely definitely definitely no logic to human behaviour.

As promised.

I'm sorry to say that this game is NOT what I expected and will disappoint a lot of people. The premise of the story is that Mozart was not only a genius with music but also a freemason. He is in Prague to perform, but decides to visit the Prague chapter of the freemasons in his spare time. They don't accept his word that he has been initiated and he has to prove himself worthy. This is where the puzzles come in. So far, so good, but unfortunately the developers only had enough imagination for five puzzles and two mini-games and these are repeated over and over again. And worse, they're not even fun to solve/play.

PLEASE NOTE, SPOILERS FOR SOME OF THE TYPES OF PUZZLES TO FOLLOW. Not the solutions though, it's just that some people don't want to know what kind of puzzles to expect.

Some of the puzzles require musical insight and good hearing capabilities, for instance tuning an instrument or putting fragments in the correct order. Another type of puzzle is purely trial and error (although musical insight can help a little, it involves reconstructing 'messed up' sheets of music).

One mini-game is playing cards. Since it depends on luck and coincidence it can take a while to win this, which influences the flow of the game (not very realistic to play a dozen rounds of a game of cards when you are in a hurry). The worst however is a conducting mini-game. A dot 'dances' on the screen and you have to follow it with your mouse cursor. This is completely impossible with a scrollwheel-type mouse (which I have) and very hard with a normal mouse (which I bought to be able to play this game). Fortunately, you can make a few mistakes as the result influences a simple word puzzle which is easy to solve even with lots of mistakes in the conducting game. However, at the end of the game you have to perform this mini-game perfectly without any mistake. I was not able to do this even after trying a dozen times. I had to ALT-TAB out of the game to escape the continuous loop of trying again and again.

Not recommended.

I'll be back, one day, when I feel like it.

Ouch! I actually enjoy

musical puzzles
but the last puzzle you described sounds frustrating in the extreme.

Maybe the game was meant to be played BY Mozart? grin

With only a few puzzles and mini games repeated, is this more like a casual game then?

No, it's not a casual game. It has a story and the puzzles are more or less related to it. No hidden objects and random items, no tile matching or anything. There are more than a few puzzles, it's just that it's the same ones over and over again - with variations ofcourse, not literally the same, but similar enough that you'll exclaim 'not this again' after two or three times and it'll feel like a chore long before the end of the game. shame

I don't mind music puzzles, as long as they're not too difficult or involve recognizing and memorizing complex chord progressions. But I don't like card games in game (except Scopa is OK). I don't like either Poker or 21. And the follow-the-dot "puzzle" sounds like a pain. Is there a way to skip that last puzzle where you have to get it "perfect" with a saved game?

Not that I know of Jenny100. But I think it really is the last puzzle and all that I have missed out on is a cut scene.

This game sounds very familiar to me, especially the puzzles. A few years ago I played a game and I am sure it had the same puzzles as PolloDiablo describes in Mozart. But for the life of me, I can't remember the name although I am pretty sure it was about a composer.

Hi All,

I've just downloaded the French demo for this game from the MicroApps site. It installed perfectly, but is asking for an activation code. I've e-mailed Technical Support but I was wondering - has anyone else had this issue? Did I do something incorrectly?

Regards,

Dave
