Well, now here's a twist. Danyboy at Mystery Manor didn't post this last week because he heard it was a joke. He has a press contact at Microids and he e-mailed her to ask about this press release and this was her response...

"Hi, Daniel!

I confirm the April 1st announcement was true, Microïds is working on Kate Walker’s adventures again. We will give more details next week, sorry I cannot give you more today before we disclose the next press release. But please be sure we are not playing with our #1 asset, our most treasured game!!

They made things particularly confusing by combining things that were true (Syberia sequel) with things that weren't (PS3 release and collaboration between PS3 and PC players). It would make more sense if they made the game compatible with the Wii, or with the XBox or XBox360 (since Syberia 1 and 2 were released on XBox).

Then they not only released the news on April Fool's Day, but some of their staff told some of the people who emailed them (including Jackal at Adventuregamers) that it was a joke. I suppose they did this to get people talking about the game. But I don't think that was necessary. Most Syberia fans would buy the game as soon as it comes out.

I'd still like to know if Benoit Sokal will be designing the art.

I agree Jenny. You can tell by how many views this post has that people are still extremely interested in this series.

Hmm, I have been thinking for some time now that maybe that first press release was a *trial balloon* just to see how big the reaction would be! I hope it has been big enough so that they know we, the Syberia fans, are still out there and still hoping ... a lot.

I really loved both Syberia games so if this is for real I am very happy to hear it . But I do hope it is just a point and click game like normal. Not all that other stuff they were talking about .

I just finished Sinking Island. My monitor is 24 inches viewable with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. And it filled the entire screen! It was beautiful!

I can't complain about how Sokal created the environments for the game.

I've just started Jonathan's revised Darkfall 1 (and after it will play his revised Darkfall 2, which I also have) and I am just amazed! So different on my current monitor from the 15 inch viewable one I had when I played the first editions!

Wow! The good news just keeps coming and coming! Still Life 2, The Black Mirror 2 and now Syberia 3! Maybe there's hope yet for Gabriel Knight and Tex Murphy to resurface!

I have both Siberia I and II. These are my favorite all time adventure games. They were my first adventure games after starting with Nancy Drew. I was looking forward to Siberia III but now I feel I have been hit with something. Why did they have to put it you can't play unless you have a platstation 3? I got my PC to play games on. I do not think I will buy a PS3 or DS to play games (extra expense) so I guess I won't be getting Siberia 3 unless it is made for pc by itself.

carla, that was part of an April Fools joke. It has nothing to do with a PS3. I hope they release a real press release soon so we can have a better idea of what to be excited for.
