Hi Boomers, I have just acquired my 1st copy of Myst : "Myst Masterpiece Edition". I am thoroughly confused as to what the differences are in the editions. Stupidly purchased new from eBay, there was no manual. So I would like to know where to go for the docs. Thanks in advance,

I'm not an expert (And there are experts on this site) but MYST Masterpiece Edition is simply the original Myst with an hint system added. REALMYST is significantly different with 360 degree scanning, a few scenic and weather differences, and an added Age to visit.
If all the people were heroes, there would be no one to watch the parades.

Kat, yes the games are essentially the same (maybe they are on DVD instead of CD or floppy), and the extras (like "The Making of Myst" video) are the only difference.
As Haze mentioned, the one exception is RealMyst (not included in the Masterpiece package) which is quite a bit different. It is true 3D gaming a la URU and is magnificent if you can find a copy. I still can't believe that some publisher is not promoting this still.

EDIT: I just noticed your "Docs" question. There are great Walthroughs here on Gameboomers. Whatever other docs you want, drop us a line and I'll try to help.

Thanks for the prompt responses. And, can you tell me which Walkthrough would apply? Has anyone attempted to run it on Win Vista 32bit dual core PC. {it was sold to me as being Vista compatible}

Vista compatible, that's a laugh. You can play Myst on Vista only if you dump your Quicktime and install the older version (6.5 I think) and play in 98 compatibility. That will wreak havoc with any Quicktime apps like ITunes or other games. Riven is a bummer, you have to really tweak it with two patches and I actually went here> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq8qTWKxChA and downloaded the whole package. It was a monumental task but in the end was able to play through the whole game, just a few save-game issues. Exile runs fine on Vista, there is a patch available.
