I cannot get on some of the ledges/hills/mountains. For example, up to the North West (Grassland) is a ledge that I can see things on and it shows a little "white" ramp in the map but I can find NO way to get on it. Any ideas?

There are places you can't get to until something else happens and makes them available. You will then be able to get to them. You will find several of these places throughout the game.

The part I'm talking about is in grassland, all the areas have been cleared and I even have the teleport to the other island.

If you look at the map, there is a ledge in the upper, left hand corner, it shows 2 white ramps, one near the village and on way back near the water. So I walked up there excpecting to find a grassy ramp to get on the ledge and there is none but the map shows one?

If it's where I think it is, then you first need to do a few favors, which in the end will make it blow up
