Preorders on Her Interactive start on June 29th for both the Digital and boxed versions. yay

You can expect to see the retail versions in the stores starting on July 14th.

It will be available for downloading on July 14th as well on the Her Interactive website.

To whet your appetite, don't forget to gove the demo a whirl Here or play the mini game Here.

Happy sailing!

I almost purchased today at Wal-Mart what I thought was a new Nancy Drew adventure game, under the label Nancy Drew Chronicles from Her Interactive. Only after reading the fine print on the back of the box, did I discover it was a Hidden Object Game. Very deceptive. I'm glad ther's a REAL Nancy Drew game coming out soon.

I wasn't very impressed with the demo (the music especially made this seem very laid back; no thrill or sense of impending doom with Bess' kidnapping - I mean, it is her best friend!!), aside from the smaller details in the graphics...Not a fan of their obsession with the birds-eye view in driving/walking places and I'd like a return to the old map style or something of the sort.

I love ND games, but recently they have become less about the mystery and more a series of tasks. To be fair, the last one was interesting, but this game seems to be less serious... I think this game will determine whether I bother with the next one.

EDIT: I see that the preorder for the digital download doesn't really do anything; you still have to download it on the 14th when it releases. So a new mystery: What's the point of that? O.O

I'm one of those who've been turned off to the series. It happened during White Wolf (#16). Didn't finish it, and haven't purchased another ND since. I figured I might reconsider if I could find a new one at a big discount. Amazon had Crystal Skull at 50% off, so I picked it up yesterday. I'm still not back in the fan club. Depends on how I feel about #17. I hope I find fewer of the inane, timed, time-filler tasks... then I'll start buying each new game when it comes out (the way I did in the past)- for the full price. . .
and then I'll "..be ready to set sail on 'Ransom of the 7 Seas'"!

I can't wait for it to come out! I'm very curious about what kind of puzzles there will be, and I hope it will be good and suspensful!

The new full-length Nancy Drew games haven't turned into casual games at all, in my opinion, but are rather like the previous ones in the series. The "casual" Nancy Drew games are the Nancy Drew Dossier series (and a new one of those is expected in August called Resorting to Danger).

I preordered Ransom of the Seven Ships and it is supposed to show up at my place on Wednesday via UPS.

Last time I ordered from him, it only took 4 days... *sigh* I hate waiting.

I'm a short ways into this game so it's probably too early to say this definitively, but for those of you who were tired of playing cook or doing other repetitive chores in some of the prior ND games, thus far there has been no indication at all that this is going to happen in Ransom of the Seven Ships.

This one looks a bit like Creature of Kapu Cave which I didn't like at all. I am with the group that thinks the games are becoming more and more boring in the story line department and heavier on the go do this so you can do that which means you have to go to that to get to the first this. LOL I'm confused already. I wish they would go back to the eerie, scary-like challenging mysteries like Blackmoor Manor or Shadow Ranch or even Scarlet Hand.

Hi, everyone!

I'd love to set sail on "Nancy Drew: Ransom of the Seven Ships", but I can't seem to find it on any Canadian websites. I normally try to order games here in Canada before ordering from InteractCD in case I get dinged with customs fees, so if anyone knows of a Canadian website or retail store that has the game and would like to share, I'd really appreciate it. According to HerInteractive's website, amazon.ca should be carrying it, but it's not listed anywhere on their website. Ditto for bestbuy.ca.

Thanks!

Susan
