o.k.so I'm at the saw-mill & I've figured out (I think ) that I need a pole that's 15ft. long BUT when I check with the lever & despite moving the arrows on the pole right & left I can only ever get 9ft./12ft.
What am I doing wrong?
Help pleeeeeze.

I kept on moving and dropping the pole on the table.

The picture below is where I got the 15 and 6 ft one.

I'm trying to make the 340 feet marker, but can't seem to get the pole at the stone base. Is it the kiln that's off the road before getting to the sawmill. This game can make you get lost. I'm not too sure what I'm doing even with the WT

Yes - that's the large kiln.
There's an altitude stone base there with the altitude that is legible.
Turn around from the anvil or fireplace and see it by the trees.
Click on it so that Mina knows what is the altitude.
Then if the pole is still inserted - remove it and replace it with the one you cut.

To open the panel - click on the cover.
The voice will test you before it opens the panel.
He will give a number and you press the button that corresponds to that number.
He will give 4 numbers. If correctly done - he opens the panel for you.

Do you have the subtitles turn on (in options at Main menu)?
If so - read the text at the bottom of the page.
He will say a number - press the correct button that has that number of dots on it.
You did finish the language machine outside?

I'm sorry to write about something else so soon, but how many times do I have to pan left for the bird to show up on the 340 marker pole?

Jen,

The bird doesn't show up at the 340 pole.
You use the tip of the pole as the 340 marker.
You pan left looking for another marker so that you can slowly move to the cliff side.
Click on the cursor at tip of the pole - then pan left until you see something identifiable. That one is a bird on top of a tree trunk. Since I pan I click-hold until I see that bird.
Then I go to the sawmill to move closer to the cliff and look for that bird on top of the tree trunk.
I then do the same thing. I click the cursor on the bird and then pan right to the cliff to look for another identifiable marker.
