I knew it would happen eventually, but I tried to do as much on my own as I could. This is quite baffling as I'm trying to get LeChuck's scroll with the help of the dog. I'm at the thief's den and the dog has the scroll, I think, and I thought I saw him run away with it when Guybrush distracted the thief, and the dog is no longer in my inventory. But alas and alack, neither can I find him anywhere else! However, when I go back, I do hear the dog barking among the scrolls again, so I guess he didn't get away after all. I can't seem to distract the thief long enough to get the dog. I have the grog, the empty tips jar, money, spirit photo, dirty sock in inventory, but don't know how they can help. Oh, I've done the insult swordfighting with Morgan and another pirate and that was a lot of fun! Finding the right insult that would work with both of them was a new twist to the old game.

It sounds like you've already done the puzzle and just need to find the dog.

Click to reveal..
The proper puzzle sequence goes like this:

Hand the treasure box to the thief. Distract the thief, put the dog in the pile of scrolls, talk to the dog (I'm not sure that's necessary,) then steal something (such as a pegleg). You'll see a cutscene in which the dog runs away.

Afterwards, the dog shows up in the Treasure Hunt area.

Note that if you leave after putting the dog in the scrolls, without stealing something afterwards, the dog will be caught and be waiting for you when you return to the thief.

Here's how it works: You put the dog in the pile of scrolls, then steal something else randomly, so he'll walk you out after.

While he does that you see the dog run away with the scroll in his mouth, and jumps to his water (You see that in a cutscene).

After that, goto the treasure hunting area, and you'll find the dog. Then to find the scroll (which he buried in there) use the dog on the X marked ground and you'll get it.

Good luck!

EDIT: Lol, didn't see the post above me cuz i left the browser opened for a while before I wrote the comment.. Oh well. ^^

Okay, my problem really was that I couldn't find the dog ... never thought to look for him where the treasure is. I thought he would be back where I first found him at the graveyard, so went looking there. My mistake, but when I went to the treasure hunting area, there was the doggie waiting for me! So now I'm stuck trying to find the 4 things for the crossroads circle. I have the anchor and I know what to use for courage in my inventory, but haven't a clue to the guide or the sacrifice.
Thanks, Demosthenes and -=sinotek=-!

What if you're blind and wants to walk around?
Talk to Morgan and ask her advice about sacrifice.

Seeing-eye dog, never would have thought of that.
Guybrush makes it to the jail, but can't get the gum the Voodoo Lady told him about. He has the hook in inventory but won't use it to get the gum. So maybe something else needs to be done here, but what? I've been through the other rips but haven't found anything to do there yet. I see that Murray the skull is back, but doesn't have much to say this time around, at least so far. I have no idea where this game is going, but I hope it has a reasonable ending ... good ending might be too much to ask?

Okay, I'm back at Club 41 and Pegleg won't talk about how he made it out of the Manatee. The other guy, forgot his name, just laughs when Guybrush tries to scare him, so that isn't working too well. Guess I need the right combination, but I don't have a clue what it is. Trial and error isn't working, although some of the faces scared me! Or is there something else I should be doing?

You should be a zombie now.
Then select dialogue 'I surrender'.
Then you are placed in jail.
Look around as fast as you can to know Bugeye's secret.
Then come back to Club and talk to Bugeye about his secret.

I've done the I surrender dialogue and have been to the jail where I saw the gum and the poster, but didn't notice anything about Bugeye's secret. I guess I need to go back and look for it so it will trigger something more than the Manatee dialogue, which is all I can get out of Bugeye at this time. I'll be back ...

Found the diary and Bugeye is now in jail. Guybrush is back there too, and has found the escape tunnel, but can't go through it. Keeps chewing the gum but not finding the right one, if there is a right one. There's a mug in inventory but I don't know what to do with it. Also the hook and Elaine's ring are in inventory but why I have no idea. I keep going back to the jail, but can't make any more progress there. Not enough time to do anything, but since I don't know what to do, that maybe isn't the big problem.

The active spot of that escape tunnel is a bit off. I think more to the left.
First you have to see the tunnel (remove poster), then you click on it.

The mug - remember that Elaine shot you with root beer. It works on spirits. It might work on unsticking a 'spirit' gum.

Hook and ring - remember that you are now back in your body, not complete like the ghost. So you get back what your body's inventory had before.

I had the mug, but I needed that hint about the root beer to get it to work. Once I got that right I had no trouble with the escape tunnel. I am now working on the spell to shrink the sponge. I have 5 of the ingredients in place but need the second one, the soft sound. I have a fishnet and maybe I'm supposed to use that to capture a sound? At the treasure the guy there says he hears a whisper that he thinks might be Stan, but I don't know how to get that whisper if that is even what I'm supposed to do. So once again, I'm here for some expert help.

I never would have done this on my own as all I ever got after digging were these flying little pieces of stuff that I never could figure out what they were, so didn't see them as important. Once again, my mistake! Shrunk the sponge and after a long cut scene, poor Guybrush is being keelhauled over and over. I see a bunch of keys dangling from the rope as he goes by but can't grab them. I think they are needed to open that door where the hook doesn't work. Completely baffled at this point, so what else is new?

The rope goes to the wheel house, but I can't find where it is. Guybrush tries to lift a cabin door, but it is too heavy. I can click on a bone, but can't pick it up so that's no help that I can see. I keep trying to find new things that might help, but getting nowhere.

I was actually trying to listen to what these teeny one saying aside from I am Guybrush....
So they stuck in my mind. Plus I tried catching them earlier.

There is a short time under water so click fast on those keys.
You can save at most stop so you don't need to replay much.

The rope will be for later; after being beaten up some more.
Deanie - Becky's son gave me the sequence on this one. lol

I keep clicking underwater, but the cursor/star never shows up. Maybe I just can't see it? I see the keys and I think I could get there if I could just see where to click. When LeChuck shows up the cutscene doesn't allow anything to show. I've tried taking the hook just before LeChuck comes on the scene thinking maybe I could hook the keys with it, but the hook disappears, so no help there.

I'm beginning to lose interest at this point so I am wondering is the end worth putting up with this nonsense? Maybe I might be happier not knowing how this ends?

I really enjoyed that "Dig." hint! That must be the shortest hint ever. I will remember it long after I've forgotten most of the game itself. Strangely enough, that hint alone makes this episode worthwhile from my point of view, so as usual, thanks MaG.

Before you get keelhauled - talk to Elaine fighting the skeletons.
Ask her to fight LeChuck so that will give you your needed time.

lol Okay - from now on - I'll try to remember - one word hint for sierramindy.

Talking to Elaine did the trick and I got the keys just fine. But poor Guybrush is still getting keelhauled and while LeChuck may think it's fun, I definitely do not. I've got the door over the barrel for the seesaw and Guybrush asks his Plunderbunny to light the cannon, which she does, but that's where I'm stuck again. I don't know what to do here to stop LeChuck.

About one word hints, they can't get any better than Dig with only 3 letters, that has to be the shortest hint ever! But any size hints are fine because they all make me think and most fire my curiousity too as I'm not sure just how the hint will work. So many are not obvious to me and I have the fun of finding out the answer even when I'm thinking, "This is impossible," or "How can this possibly work?"

I can't get Guybrush to walk on the seesaw. I can get him to ask Elaine to fire the cannon and then he just comments on the seesaw and no amount of clicking on the seesaw or using the arrow keys gets him to walk on it before LeChuck shows up and tosses him up to the crow's nest, at least I think that's what it is. Then there is a cutscene with the cannon going off but I don't know if anything is hit or not. LeChuck shows up and it is back down to the deck with the seesaw that isn't seesawing!

To love is to be happy with!
