I finished Runaway 3 a few weeks ago, after a LONG break from adventure gaming, and I'm ready to try another one.

Since I've been 'out of the loop' for a couple of years, are there any recommendations? I prefer character based stories, like Gabriel Knight, Broken Sword, Runaway, etc.

Thanks,
Louis

Syberia I & II, if you haven't played they are great. I like the Art of Murders, maybe the two lastest Dracula's Origin and Dracula 3.

Right now I'm back on the old Tex Murphy's.

I have a stack of new ones and still go back to the BS's and GK's.
Welcome back,

Or perhaps for a bit of fun, A Vampyre Story. The characters in that one totally make the game. This group is responsible for the Monkey Island games. A Vampyre Story

Gardens put to bed for the winter. Time for some gaming!

You're right that is a real cute one. Tongue in the check kind of funny.

I recently played chronicles of mystery 2 (tree of life) and found the storyline and puzzles very good and also the length of gameplay made thisa very good value game too.

Louis have you played Secret Files? Based on the games you listed I think you would enjoy Tunguska or Secret Files 2. luck

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

I recommend most highly "Overclocked." It certainly kept my attention and to my knowledge had a unique character based plot.

I'm afraid I have to disagree about Dracula Origin. I found that to be a disappointment.

All of that is if you want to play relatively recent games.

I always would recommend the old classics like Tex Murphy and the like, often available from Great Old Games (in all their glory and with no fuss to run).

The Longest Journey comes to mind as does Sherlock Holmes the case of the rose tattoo or the case of the serrated scalpel. There is also Grim Fandango. There are so many games that shouldn't be missed in one's life time!

But, I can certainly understand if you want good graphics and the bells and whistles and ease of use of the latest releases.

I hope you find something you'll love forever...

Thanks for some good suggestions. I have played most of the old 'classics', like the Tex Murphy games, Broken Sword series, Grim Fandago, etc.

Vampyres sounds interesting, and so does Secret Files/Tunguska (which I see Amazon has for 8.79! They also have "Murder in the Abbey" which I haven't played. What do you think of that one?

I'd be cautious about Murder in the Abbey, nolalou. Many folk here found it glitchy and draggy, and frustrating to play. I tried it but gave up pretty early on.

Secret Files Tunguska is an excellent game!
