Alawar is charging me $30 a month for a subscription I didn't order - this has gone on for two months now and I can't get it stopped, and they now owe me $60

Where can I go to get help on this?

this is my latest message to them:

Message flagged Tuesday, July 12, 2011 8:42:12 PMMessage bodywhat the heck is going on here? I didn't order any monthly subscription - you charged me last month, and I complained then and asked you to fix it

well, that charge is still on my credit card, and now you're charging me again

this can not be right, and I want it fixed immediately

please reply and credit my account for two months of this garbage

how can you get away with this?

Are you sure it's Alawar? They do not have a program that charges 30 dollars a month. You might want to call your credit card company.

Quote:
I found this: Alawar GameClub Rules
The basic principle of our GameClub is that the membership is free and without time-limit!

Membership allows you to get a discount for our games.

If you buy 1 or more games within 90 days, you will get 30% off for all next games (the game will cost you $6.96)

For getting the access to Alawar GameClub discounts you have to login to your account first. When you log in you will see "GameClub Price" note near the "Get full version" button. This is the biggest discount you can get for a certain game at the moment.

In this section you'll be able to see your purchase history and also you can get the registration key to the games you've already bought, in case you've lost the key.

You will have the access to Support Group from here. You can ask questions by filling the form.

Exclusive packages and offers for Alawar GameClub members only!!!

I also found articles that they discontinued the game club entirely because they reduced the prices for all. It sounds to me like someone else is using your card for purchases or it's a scam using Alawars name.

Yup. You're going to have to get your credit card number changed.

Menahune, this was brought to my attention:

Alawar new game club. Did you do the dollar trial?

Ana - yes, that's the one that caught me - I did the dollar trial and didn't recognize that I had to cancel

I suppose they'll wriggle out of it now, but it seems a harsh lesson to learn via entrapment - boooo Alawar - too bad because they have some good games

Plimus is the collection agent and the one that keeps you hooked - I followed about a zillion links until I got to a point where I MAY have cancelled the subscription. If that is correct, then the worst case is that I've lost $60, but at least I won't have to go through the nuisance of cancelling my credit card and getting a new number
------------------

holy cow - I just read three or four pages of that link you sent - maybe I'm not the only idiot who got caught

now, I'll have to wait another month to find out if the cancellation I think I made actually took place

Glad you at least discovered what it is. I hope you can be successful at getting it stopped now.

Ouch I was just going to ask if anyone knows anything about Alawar. I do surveys and one of the places is offering points to download Alawar games. I think I'll skip on it if things are this confusing, and just stick to BFG.

I used to love Alawar, they were a good place to get games.

HOWEVER since this new pricing policy has gone into effect I won't touch them with a ten foot pole and recommend that others stay clear of them until they drop this deceptive pricing.

I have sent them an e-mail to that effect too. Naturally there has been no response.

well, they've done it again - I want to swear here but I guess it's not ok

I went thru the steps to cancel on July 13. Later same day I received a response from Alawar - very crisp, explaining the pricing structure and saying that I should cancel before July 14 in order to avoid another charge

Today I check my online bank records and found a new charge by Alawar dated July 14

I guess I'm going to have to do the drastic and cancel my credit card

I'm frustrated and fuming now
Janice

Did you try calling Plimus, as was mentioned in the first post in that Gamezebo thread? I'm really sorry to hear that this still isn't straightened out.

I realize that calling them costs money, but talking to someone directly might result in something actually being done about this.

Contact your credit card company. They should help you with this without cancelling the card.

You don't have to cancel the card -- just get the number changed and tell your credit card company that the charges from Plimus were not authorized.
