This may be of interest to all of the gray-haired adventure fans out there (myself included).

There is a lengthy interview over at Adventure Classic Gaming with David Gray, the creator of Hugo's House of Horrors.

Those of us who remember playing this game (and its sequels) in our youths may recall a big debate on whether or not the author knew of Maniac Mansion and made a fan game that is essentially a clone of the LucasArts classic. If you are one of us, the answer from the author in this interview may surprise you (it surprised me). Anyhow,

Enjoy.

thanks Dave. I had played Maniac Mansion but I had never heard of Hugo's House of Horrors before.

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

I remember playing these am I correct in thinking they were text based and you had to think of different words to trigger it. I remember saying get and it was pick up if memory serves correct. Don't think I ever finished any of them sadly. Think I played all 3 tho sure I remember a plane one and a house of horrors.
