There's a bit of a problem for some gamers. The game freezes at the star puzzle and completely locks up the computer. BFG is on to the problem.
I've just done a Dr Felix to send in the hope they can resolve it before the deadline for the Summersale expires. I really liked this one so far.

I hope they resolve the problem, meryl. Same developers as Mystery Trackers: Raincliff. I'm looking forward to playing this game myself. wave

I am enjoying this game so much. Kind of easy, but relaxing.

Hmm - It never allowed me to get to the star puzzle - Although it says that I have 14 minutes left, it just wont let me play any more.

Yes, rather easy but I quite liked it, all the same!

Hope everyone is having a great Labor Day Weekend.

I am starting this game over for the 3rd time. First had problems with the star puzzle. Started over and it worked fine as long as I place the red box first.

Had to start over with the elevator to get the handkerchief. I had to have everything completed in the Chapter for this to work. Do mechanism in this order - read note, use oil, place handle. As soon as you place the handle the mechanism works and you can pick up the handkerchief. luck

Really enjoying the game but I am not sure I will start over a 4th time.

I don't have the patience to start over anything. And I don't see why we should have to, frankly.
If they manage to do a fix for the star puzzle I'll come back to your advice about the elevator Kate Anne.
Thanks for posting it.

Edit. Just heard from BFG Customer Service. They are awaiting a rebuild of the game from developers.

This is a great game. Beautiful artwork and plenty of gameplay for a standard version.

I think that's the one I got rid of because it had limited hints and having to hunt for hint recharge items. I don't like those features.

Guybrush: Either the CE was different, or it's a matter of playing in Casual Mode. But I haven't noticed any limitations on hints.

It does depend on what mode you play in. I am playing in advanced mode and it's pretty challenging. For those that said the game is on the easy side, did you play in casual mode? Did anyone play in the hardcore mode?

It's a pretty good game. I hope I don't get stuck at the star puzzle.

Just wanted to say that BF released a new build of the game yesterday which fixes problems that some people have had. You need to uninstall the game, reinstall & start again with a new profile for it to work! I was a little disppointed with the game - too many hidden objects for me, the story is okay but with so many games being released it didn't really stand out!

Just a little warning if you haven’t played this game yet and intend to:
There is still a small glitch in the game and after visiting the forum this is the repeated comment I saw

“I was having the same problem in the basement with the machine. I put the lever in when I found it then the oil. You can't do that. You find the lever before you find the oil. Don't put the lever in. Continue on until you get the oil. When you put the oil on the machine, then the lever, it will automatically start.”

And this is the very same problem I just encountered, so it looks like this flaw hasn’t been remedied as of yet.

I have written an Email to BF asking them for either a refund or a game credit since I do not want to A) Restart the game and B) Always have to be aware when replaying this game to be on lookout for this pitfall, not fun.

So it looks like it’s not only the Star puzzle that has a problem.

I am anxious to hear if this happened to others in this Forum.

YOu have to be sure and clear all the files off from the original before you start the new build.

Find the files to delete by going to C drive - Documents and settings - the name you call your computer - Application data - Elephant Games

It is very important to do that.

Thanks for your quick reply but this is the Latest version that I have and I did not have any other version of this game previously, so the glitch(es) still exist for at least the basement one, and you Must Follow the advice from Kate Anne re:

“Had to start over with the elevator to get the handkerchief. I had to have everything completed in the Chapter for this to work. Do mechanism in this order - read note, use oil, place handle. As soon as you place the handle the mechanism works and you can pick up the handkerchief”

So I will wait to see what the BF techies have to say...

Hi again,
Well in BF's usual fine fashion they quickly responded and were sorry to see that I ran into the glitch and gave me a game credit, I wrote back to them to thank them for their quick response and game credit and asked them if they were going to pursue in the fixing of this glitch.
I hope they do because this "Was" one great game and looking forward to playing it glitch free.
I now know that there a few work arounds but it would be much better than not to have to do these work arounds.
And thank you GB forum members and moderators for your help and "Putting up with me".
Take care

If you follow the advice from Kate Anne re: “Doing the steps in this order…” and BrownEyedTigre’s advice re: Cleaning certain files if you’ve already installed an earlier version of this game.
Also to note, not everbody had trouble with this game.

On side note, BF wrote me back and told me it was OK to keep this game and gave me some advice in order to possibly bypass this glitch and others and that is to play it in “Administrator mode” … I would still follow the others advices though, just to be on the safe side.

Note: I wrote back to BF stating that I had already deleted this game and that it would be dishonest to keep the since I got a game coupon to replace it and it would also be Hypocritical on my part if I wrote in and said “I refuse to replay this game because of….”
Dang, should have kept the game, oh well.

Wow no wonder sooooo many people think highly of Big Fish, they just wrote back to me saying that they appreciate my input and kind letters and that they have not "Voided the game" so it is Ok to re-download it for free and to give the Administrator command a try, or if that doesn’t work to follow the other work around for this game, well with such excellent customer support, I will not mind if I have to: A) Restart this game with Admin. rights and B) Should that not work then I will not mind re-restarting the game a 3rd time, having such great feedback helps one have a bit more patience....

I see what the "bug" was now eek

I've got past it. But I probably wouldn't have used the oil before the lever if I hadn't been warned by kindly Gameboomers !!

Thank you thumbsup
