Adventure gaming fans waiting for the release of The Book of Unwritten Tales now have the chance to get a first glimpse of the humorous gaming experience: Publisher Lace Mamba Global and developer King Art today release the public English language version demo of the upcoming game.

The demo (1.4 GB) is available for download at the Official Website:

It features a big part of chapter 2 of the game, offering approximately 3 hours of gameplay :in chapter 2, players slip into the role of little gnome Wilbur Weathervane, who is on his way to bring a magical ring to the human town of Seastone and to meet up with the arch mage of the humans. Wilbur needs to get accepted as a student at Master Marcus' magical school and to earn his mage diploma by solving three difficult tasks...

Quote:
The Book of Unwritten Tales is a humorous point & click adventure homage to the RPG and fantasy genres, its books, movies and games. Filled with plenty of weird characters and dark humour, the game features four playable heroes: The little gnome Wilbur, the elf princess Ivo, a human adventurer named Nate, and The Critter, a shaggy creature that Nate adopted on one of his journeys, and hasn’t stopped trotting behind him ever since. Their skills have to be used wisely to solve the game’s puzzles, particularly on those that can only be solved by working as a team.

In a world torn by war, the aged gremlin archaeologist Mortimer MacGuffin harbours the dark secret of a powerful artefact. Whoever calls this artefact his own, will determine the fate of the world. While the Army of the Shadows sends out its best and most devious agents to discover the secret, the Alliance’s four heroes find themselves involuntarily drawn into the crisis…

Featuring about 20 hours of gameplay in a massive game world with detailed graphics, The Book of Unwritten Tales offers more than 150 mind-boggling puzzles and numerous crazy characters, ranging from two-headed ogres and vegetarian dragons to good-natured zombies.

German press critically acclaimed this adventure gaming gem. The game received twelve rartings of 90 percent / 9.0 or more, the average score is 86.7 percent. German magazine “PC Games” called The Book of Unwritten Tales “easily the most recommendable adventure game in years”. “GameStar” stated: “This adventure tells a fantastic story with exceptional characters, lots of humour and allusions to well-known fantasy stereotypes and logical puzzles. The 3D landscapes are beautiful (…)”.
Customers of the retail edition of the upcoming point & click adventure game The Book of Unwritten Tales will find some extra perks in the box: It includes, for example, a 36 page art book, showing a selection of the game’s most beautiful character and concept artworks and thus giving insights into the development process. Additional contents are a soundtrack CD and a double-sided A2 artwork poster. The recommended retail price is £24.99. Publisher Lace Mamba Global will release The Book of Unwritten Tales on October 28th, 2011.

Publisher Lace Mamba Global will release The Book of Unwritten Tales on October 28th, 2011.

Enjoy!

Wilbur Weathervane? I'd want to play just to meet someone with the name, even if I hadn't been looking forward to this game for months. lol

All of the voice work in the game demo is exceptional! King Art has done a wonderful job on the English version. Personally, I like Death. He has such a 'plummy' voice. And bunny slippers. grin

I just took aa second look at gremlin's First Look, and Weathervane is indeed mentioned there, along with a small portrait of him. Sweet! grin

I just finished the demo after having to play it in spurts and starts and intend to go back and do it all again to really savor it. This is a wonderful, funny, lighthearted game demo that will keep a smile on your face the whole way through. The graphics are beautiful and done with amazing attention to detail...watch Wilbur's reflection follow him through the water on one very atmospheric screen... and every one of the characters, all extremely well-voiced, fits perfectly in the game.

Dave says he'll get it at Interact as soon as it comes out and I, for one, cannot wait to order my copy and continue adventuring with Wilbur Weathervane.

Hey, GypsyRox! Welcome to the forum! You and me! If I didn't want a boxed copy, I'd be getting The Book of Unwritten Tales now. In case you didn't know, it's available for download at the Official Website link in Carla's post above.
