Does anyone know if Lighthouse The Dark Being is being sold on the Internet and can be downloaded online somewhere?

Getting this to work on Windows 7 would be quite a challenge, I would imagine...

Could it even now be in the public domain as freeware? Anyone knows?

(Definition taken on the Internet: Freeware games are games that are free to use and distribute in any way you want. These games are free, because their developers have chosen to provide them free of charge. Some games that used to be shareware or just normal copyrighted games have sometimes been changed to freeware, when they have become too old. Basically Freeware games have some sort of copyright. We also feature some Public Domain games. In public domain games the developer has no longer any rights to the software.)

YOu can find it here.

Please ask in Glitches regarding tweaks to get it to run if possible.

I have the original here already somewhere but I can't find it (so annoying). I just thought maybe it would be simpler to buy it as an online download if the price was almost nothing (the game is rather old). Like on a website like Big Fish Games selling adventures for $2.99 (but they don't sell the Sierra games).

I am also asking the same question for the game Rama from Sierra please, if anyone knows where it could be bought online for a few dollars...

Since you aren't looking to trade I am moving this to Adventure Game discussions.

It is my understanding that if a game will install and play in Vista it should have no problem with Win 7. I can't try this myself as I have neither Vista or Win 7 but Squirt the Cats (Jafa) new Lighthouse Installer is suppose to work with Vista. Check out This Page

That's an evil game... took me years to solve :-)

Good thing I have confirmation it will work on windows 7, thanks, I am aware of Jafa tweak, thanks. For the railroad I think I still have my little map I did, I used it for the 50 times I must have played the game... I bet I have lost that too, but perhaps I will remember it by heart... wink I love the girl speaking weirdly requesting pebbles, however she sent my partner off the wall (I will have to play the game in secret during the night).

I have gotten it to run on Windows XP with special pack 3, so it could (should?) run on Windows 7 as well....

I reinstall it every Halloween. Look in "Glitches" for more info. "Amber" is another good old DOS game. All under Win 7 with tweaks and shims. Enjoy. Feel free to email me with questions on all old DOS and Windows 3,4, 95, etc games. I keep reinstalling them and have a blast. As I keep getting older, I keep forgetting what I played...sort of like new friends !!!

I just tried installing Lighthouse on my W7 computer, with no luck. All the compatibilty settings resulted in the same message; that it is not compatible with the version of Windows.

That is SO too bad; it's one of the all-time great games.

DosBox might solve it; dunno.

Did you try the installation using Squirt the Cats (Jafa) XP/Vista Installation?

Hi, Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm playing it on Windows 7, 64 bit. I installed it using "Squirt the cats" installer. I've been to Martin's Roost, Temple 0f Ancient Machine's and now I'm on the submarine and no problems at all. I loved this game! Yay! So glad I can play it again.

Cheers and accolades should be for Squirt the Cat for all the successful work he has put into all his Installers.

Thank you Jafa for giving all a chance to play these great classics.

Also those who aren't aware, you should really make sure you UPDATE your version of Lighthouse to 2.0 if you don't already have it.

Maybe we can enter Lighthouse in the Windows 7 list of games in the Glitches Forum. Thanks for letting us know Kayc

Had to go back to a save because lighter was missing from inventory. Got ready to fire the cannon and no lighter. I'm still enjoying the game even with choppy sounds during cutscenes and missing lighter. Got it back now.

Hi GreyFuss, wave
They say that the patch is already installed when you use the installer from "Squirt the Cats."
Kay

Maybe I didn't pick the lighter up before I left the house. Just tried and it lets you leave without it and no way back to the house.
