I remember watching avidly the cartoon "The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths" when I was young (in French it was called Les Cités d'Or).

Is it an adventure though? It looks suspiciously like there is action involved, or even that it resembles a platform game?

It looks like it might be similar to Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado with characters helping each other to "solve" easy puzzles (like pulling switches).
Not a point-and-click. Mostly easy console-type puzzles and some stealth.
Around 23 min into that YouTube video you can see the type of stealth.

I just found out there was a Kickstarter campaign about this:

It is from a French developer. And I just found out the cartoon was French and Japanese, and in French it was called "Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or".

And apparently there is a revival of the Cartoon in the French speaking countries. I need to check this out.
