When you play a game on Facebook you have to agree to let them access your data on all websites as well as your tabs and browsing activity. Is this a dangerous thing to do or is it ok"

That depends on your level of comfort. I don't play Facebook games for that reason, but I'm most likely in the minority.

Now why am I not surprised?
Well, at least Facebook is upfront about being nosy about things that are none of their business and not at all interested in Internet privacy.

Same here, no games and apps on FB, and I have my Privacy settings maximized. And not only do they access your info, they notify you that opting in gives them access your list of Friends, too. Plus, I am annoyed by the constant pop-ups from Friends who DO play the games and apps. I have to keep Blocking each new app or game that shows up on my own Timeline.

I block them all too Reenie. My list of blocked apps is huge!

I think if Face Book is so bad, No one should be on it. <Period> Plus webpages like Game Boomers should not promote going there.

That's just my opinion. As far as Facebook.. It is what is... You have to understand not everything in this world is private.

It's not bad, in fact I love it and can't imagine not having it. And as an FYI, I am friends with at least 100 GB members on there among others and it is an awesome place to share our lives. It is more private than sharing here or any other public forum because you have control of who sees what. Don't knock it till you tried it.

EDIT: GameBoomers FB page is proud to have 1203 likes. Obviously they enjoy us there as well as here.

Facebook is a wonderful way for me to keep in touch with my family members that live far away. I get pics of my grandkids immediately and have gotten in touch with friends from high school and college. I let my granddaughter use my account to play Bubble Witch Legacy and have played it myself. But I block everything else as far as games and apps.

It's not Facebook that's bad; it's the people who don't know how to use it safely or those who use it to live their private lives on line.

I don't know what we'd do without FB now, because it allows our whole family, scattered everywhere, to stay in touch simultaneously. I have reconnected with lost cousins and furthered the family genealogy research. I have also "met" people all over the globe, and have visited a few of them in person during our travels. That was fabulous! I've been turned on to books I might have missed, movies I might not have seen, and music new to me. Finally, we don't watch TV, so a Friend's posting on FB is often the first news I hear of something. FB is like a kiosk: You don't have to stop and read everything stuck there, but it is available if you are curious.

Yes, you have to protect your privacy on FB, as anywhere else. I don't use my real surname, and many of my friends don't either, and we never enter any personal info like birthdates, home addresses, and the like. If someone wants to steal pictures of my cats . . . well, no skin off my nose. wink
