Destination Treasure Island please help

I'm at the pirates place where they hold Pepita. The walkthrough says that i have to use the loaded pistol on Morgan. But when i try to do this he says the i have to thonk of a better plan cause the other pirates will shoot me before reloading my weapon. What i'm i missing?????

Have you gotten rid of the other pirates yet? It should only be Pepita and Morgan up there now.
