How to solve riddles in 11th Hour?

I am playing "11th Hour" in Vista and the game is working fine even though transitions are super fast (i dont know how to slow down my computer)

In a walkthrough i read that i have to solve riddles to progress in the game. The riddles are in the form of video scenes which you see after solving a puzzle.

I have solved the following:
Knight puzzle in foyer
Books in Library
Mouse trap in Lab
Typewriter in the Room

Now i cant get into any other room. Also there is a modern art painting (beyond the grandfather clock) with which i cant interact.

Is there a possibility that you need to solve other puzzles before these rooms can be opened?

I can barely remember this game - please check Balmoral wt to see the sequence of puzzles to be solved.

I was just plain stupid. The trick was to click on the right item to get the solution of riddles and THEN you see the video.
The game is working fine on Vista!!!
