Quest for Infamy Demo

Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/10/12 04:26 AM

Hi smile

I've decided I need help with this and as Blackthorne519 said to "make contact if you need help" I sent him a PM.

I didn't get a reply so I tried an email - but that was returned as "failed to deliver" rolleyes

So, has anyone got further than I have and can possibly give me a pointer, please ??

I've explored everywhere now (I think) and taken on two quests.
One is to kill a beast for the Gambler and the other to find a fishing rod for the Fisherman.

Well I found and killed the beast and have its head ready to give the Gambler but it's now night and so I'm locked out of the town.

I also know where there is a fish - but not yet the whereabouts of a rod whistle

[The Gambler let me out of town via a secret exit but that doesn't seem to be available as a way back in. And although I tried climbing back in over the town gates I'm evidently not athletic enough yet. And I haven't found a way to sleep/heal or advance time in any other way.]

Any help will be much appreciated, as always.

Cheers.

Okay - well, you don't quite have the climbing skills yet. So you'll probably need to practice them a bit. Try climbing some of the trees out in the forest. After you do it enough, you should be able to climb.

Well, the fish pulled the rod right out of Brattle's hand - and it floated up the river a bit. Look carefully at the river just south of Udo's stand.

Getting the rod is tricky, I will say. You're going to need something to snag it out of the water - and I'll tell you, you can only get that something when it's dusk.

Now, the gambler, Ian, is going to need something to - so good luck with that. There are two ways to obtain it, I'll give you that hint!

Sorry about the delay in getting here. I've been all over the place, but I'm here to help. Dunno why the email didn't go through. It's Blackthorne at infamous-adventures.com for future reference.

Thanks MaG, Rushes and Blackthorne519 thumbsup

I haven't had much computer time since I posted here but as soon as I can get back to the game I'll let you know if I manage to make progress .... IF I'm not too exhausted from climbing trees !!!! lol

EDIT :
Blackthorne519
Your "profile" email doesn't have an "s" on "adventure".
Maybe that's why my email to you couldn't be delivered ??

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 12:20 PM

I need some help. I killed the beast, got his blood and gave it to the guy in the cemetary. I have the fish, but no fishing rod. Every time I try to take the horse from the blacksmith I die. I can't find the fishing pole, and have put my 'eyeball' on everything that looks suspicious. so, I am at a standstill. any pointers on how to get the horse or get a fishing pole would be appreciated! Thanks.

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 12:43 PM

OK. I have made a very small amount of progress - but am still stuck !!

I know where the fishing rod is now and have an idea of how I might eventually be able to reach it.

And also, after enough practice climbing trees, I'm able to get over the gates and nip in and out of town at will.

And I've now met the Smith and seen his tongs and presume I will have to distract him somehow so I can steal them.

I bought a drink at the pub, too, thinking I might be able to keep the glass - or whatever it was served to me in - but no go there.

And I've spoken to everyone who will speak to me.

In inventory I have Money Pouch, Sword, Beast's Head and Fish ....

But although I've offered each item to all I've met, no one wants any of them.
[The Gambler doesn't even want the Beast's "bloody" Head after all my efforts in getting it !! snicker]

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 01:16 PM

Mad, above where you killed the beast is a helmet. you can get the blood from the head and put it in the helmet and then the guy will take it. I haven't seen the fishing pole.. where is that?

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 01:34 PM

Himbday630 smile

Thanks for the tip about the helmet thumbsup

The fishing rod is tucked right up against the bank of the river directly below the town gates.

I haven't bothered to use a lower screen resolution for this demo but maybe I should. Playing in a tiny window things can be quite difficult to see laugh

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 01:50 PM

ah, Thanks! okay, finally found the fishing pole (the screen is really dark and that is awfully hard to see) in my inventory I have the fish, cup, sword and money. How do I get that fishing pole?
Posted By: Blackthorne519

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 01:52 PM

You can grab the glass that the beer comes in - sorry, that's one pixel hunt that slipped through. You have to be really accurate for some reason when you try to use the finger on it. It's already been corrected in the game build.... but you can use the glass, for sure. It can be used for a few things!

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 02:22 PM

I was thinking of trying to put out the Blacksmith's fire - seeing as he seems obsessed with fire !! - as perhaps a way of distracting him. But haven't managed it.
[Haven't been able to free the horse so far either and ringing the bell doesn't seem to do anything useful lol]

Nor (even though I do now have it) have I found a use for the glass I took from the pub.
I can't seem to collect any form of liquid or anything else in it - so far, anyway.

And no success at all in locating any oil for the gambler woozy

I don't know how to actually get the fishing rod yet, mbday630. Drowned myself a few times in trying, though laugh

Guess I'm stuck again snicker

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 04:20 PM

I drowned a few times too, and finally gave up. so, if you have the fish that is in the pond, and you have the cup, have you tried combining them? finally I think I finished the demo... without talking to the drunk, without getting the horse or getting the tongs, but, after trying to put the combination of fish and cup stuff on everything, it said that I was a rogue, I believe.

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/12/12 04:46 PM

I had exactly the same experience !! lol

And I want to play the whole game now - so I'm off to join the "pledging" smile

[Thanks for the help you gave thumbsup]

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/13/12 02:58 AM

Yes - there are three separate paths to go on in the demo, all with their own puzzles!

Three people in the game will challenge you to a "mini-game" and then ask you for help. You can say yes or no. Each one sends you on a task!

Hi Blackthorne519 smile

So are you saying that mbday630 and I both only completed one of three tasks available in the demo ??

Cheers.

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/13/12 03:23 PM

Yes, I am! Sounds like you talked to Ian, the theif.

At dusk, try talking to the big guy in the bar, or the creepy guy in the creepy house with gargoyles.

Have fun!

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/13/12 10:09 PM

Well, heck !! I uninstalled it after finishing the Gambler quest as I thought that was it !! lol

I'll download it and start again then thanks

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/14/12 01:18 AM

Mad, if you figure out at least how to start another quest, please let me know. I have restarted the game several times already, and definitely told the fisherman I would help him, but don't know how to go about getting that pole. Please steer me in the right direction! thanks.

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/14/12 11:48 AM

I've only had time for one brief NEW session, mbday630, and in it, I ended up in the pub, involved in a drinking contest that I couldn't win !! lol

I didn't do anything with the fisherman except speak to him briefly.

But I'm hoping for some "game" time later.

luck

EDIT :

I eventually won the drinking contest and also worked out how to distract the Smith - so I've now completed the "Brigand" quest also.

Maybe I can get the fishing rod from the river with the Smith's tongs ??

I'll give it a go and let you know grin
Posted By: Blackthorne519

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/14/12 05:30 PM

Definitely on the right path with the tongs. Just keep in mind, Brattle - the fisherman - wants his pole back, but he goes to sleep when it turns to night.

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/14/12 06:11 PM

[Blackthorne519

I can get the tongs to retrieve the fishing pole alright but can't return them quickly enough - even though I try to before giving the pole to Brattle eek

mbday630

Try using "stealth" mode at the Smith's scene.

[I actually found the Brigand's quest easier than the Fisherman's quest is turning out to be woozy]

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/14/12 10:41 PM

stealth mode? I never look at directions... cuz, they usually say to use a keyboard control and I am not to good at that. is there a place on the top to do the stealth mode? i might give that a try. thanks for the hint

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/15/12 01:26 AM

Yes. On the far left of the icon bar at the top of the screen is the "walking" figure and when you click on it you can select either walk, stealth or run.

To start the Brigand quest, just go to the pub after the execution and talk to Kurdt.
[To actually get the quest you have to win his drinking contest lol]

I've not had time to try further with the fishing quest yet.

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/15/12 01:48 AM

Okay - yes, to return the tongs in time, it's a bit tricky. We've made it a bit easier now - but in the entrance screen, you have to go to the left off the screen - I've included a picture to show you how.

If you click on the screen where the red arrow is, you go off to the left, to the stores. If you click anywhere to the south (the blue line) it takes you to Prospero's House.)

(We've now added a grassy knoll to separate the paths to make it easier - this one got by us for the demo! Sorry!)

You keep going to the left, past the shops and off the screen to the left. You arrive back at the Blacksmith - and you can replace to tongs. You have to do this before you give the pole to Brattle.

Good luck!

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/15/12 03:49 AM

Hi smile

Thanks for that help. It meant I was able to get the rod and give it to Brattle in good time.
He gave me a reward but I never got to do anything with it as I went to the Magic Shop soon after, got Propero's quest, and quickly completed that bravo

So am I all done now ??
[I've finished the Gambler, the Brigand and the Mage quests - and found and returned a fishing rod.]

I enjoyed the demo very much thank you (and have pledged with Kickstarter) and am now really looking forward to the full game bravo

Cheers.

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/16/12 04:23 PM

I'm stuck.

I finished the Rogue quest and got the fishing rod. (I assume the alternative way is to use the fish and the cup to get fish oil …?)

However, I'm stuck with the Brigand quest (how do I melt the teeth?) and the Mage quest (how do I get blood?).

Someone mentioned a helmet, but I can't find one?

Help?

EDIT: Oh, and what are the easter eggs? wink

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/16/12 05:04 PM

Thanks, Blackthorne519 !! : I haven't time to go Egg Hunting, unfortunately, but I'm VERY much looking forward to the complete game bravo

nightstallion : There was an aftermath "product" of the execution which could help with the "blood" problem grin
And .... if you look all around the close area of the body of the person in the forest, you should be rewarded !! thumbsup

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/16/12 06:29 PM

I can't seem to find the area where the execution happened, where do I need to go for that?

And now I've found the helmet, but that should have been a bit more obvious to find, frankly ... Thanks!

EDIT: Ah, never mind, I've just found the head. smile

You can get the helmet during the day, if you bother to go exploring the forest when it's light!

Re: Quest for Infamy Demo - 06/22/12 01:43 PM

If I told you what the Easter Eggs were, they wouldn't be any fun!

I can also tell you that sometimes, it helps to click multiple times on things.

Sometimes, you get frustrated by locked doors.

You were definitely relieved to have defeated the beast. Just not TOO relieved.
