Nikopol Help - Incense

Hi all. Haven't been here for a while, but getting back into playing adventure games again.

I got the downloaded version of Nikopol from Big Fish. Started investigating around the apartment. I have picked up a few items, but know I need the incense. Problem is, no matter what I try, it won't activate for me to put in inventory. Best I got was him making a comment that it was the strongest incense he ever encountered (or something like that).

Embarrassed I am already stuck so quick in the game. Anyone got any helpful clues?

Beside the mattress is the incense, incense holder and lighter. You might be trying to pick up another item.
Try again and see.

Did you look at the monster through the crack in the wall, so that Nikopol realises that the monster cannot see, but can smell him? You should then be able to pick up the incense sticks and place them on the long wooden holder. The hot spots in this area are a little tricky to find, so click around with your cursor.

Thanks for the tips. Since I was so close to the beginning anyway (just still in the apartment) I simply started a brand new game.

Had no problem this time picking up the incense.
Taking it s-l-o-w because I haven't done a new game in a while.
