Blackwell Legacy: In Kelly's Room

Seems like reverting to a previous saved game is my only way out, but I thought someone may have a solution to this:
I missed my chance to have Joey distract Kelly so I could check out the notebook. Now when I use the phone Joey doesn't respond and offers no help. Has anyone run into this?

Let's wait for someone that has played the game.
Don't you have a notebook that you can use for dialogues?

I'm not sure if this is the exact problem you're having, but a similar question was posed in an older thread, and the developer replied with this:

This is a common place for people to get stuck, and ironically enough it's the walkthrough's fault. Go back to Rosa's apartment and talk to Joey again. Make sure to ask him about his "special powers." Once you find out what his powers are, then you can get him to blow on the papers.
