Hi Doreen,

There's saved games here.
The saved game folder might be in C drive - program files - NiBiRu folder. luck

Re: NiBiRu - 03/02/17 04:40 PM

Doreen, download the saved game file to your desktop, or to another location where you will be able to easily locate it. Locate your Nibiru folder and then place the saved game file into it - you don't install anything, you just place it into the folder. Close the Niburu folder. The next time you open your game, the saved game file will show up there in your list of saved games.

Hi, I have tried with 3 different save games, and nothing is working. I know it's probably my fault, since I am clueless about this stuff. So could you tell me in babyspeak step by step please.

Re: NiBiRu - 03/03/17 06:41 PM

Just a thought - but doesn't the downloaded save game have to be "re-numbered" or anything ??

[Or maybe that doesn't apply to saves for this game ??]

Re: NiBiRu - 03/03/17 07:03 PM

Sometimes saved games need renumbering, but I don't know if this applies in this case - but probably not.

Have you successfully located the Nibiru game folder on your computer, Doreen? Just want to make sure.

Re: NiBiRu - 03/03/17 07:19 PM

Windows 7 will never put a saved game in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) or any subfolder of C:\Program Files.

Most saves made using older games on CD or DVD are buried in a subfolder of the hidden AppData folder on Vista/7/8/10
C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Local\...
C:\Users\your-username\AppData\LocalLow\...
C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Roaming\...

I've seen some recent games in a subfolder of
C:\Users\your-username\Saved Games\name-of-game\

but even new games like Eyes of Ara often bury saves in some location like
C:\Users\your-username\AppData\LocalLow\100 Stones Interactive\The Eyes of Ara\

Sometimes GOG games are configured to install to C:\GOG Games and have been configured to save in the game folder, but I've never seen an old game on disc that does this.

Steam does its own thing.

Look for the location of the game saves that you made yourself.
They should be in some location where the folder is identified by the name of the game, but may be buried deep.

If you don't see any saves in a particular save location, the game won't be looking for saves there. There's no sense putting a new save in an empty folder, even if the folder has the name "save" on it, because the game is putting its saves elsewhere.

There is no easy way to find game saves because they end up in different places on Vista/7/8/10 depending on how the game was made. XP used to put saves in a subfolder of My Documents, and occasionally they show up there in Vista/7/8/10 but not usually.

Re: NiBiRu - 03/04/17 02:41 AM

dorish

This is from MaG's walkthrough:

"Hotdog - Exit the alley and go to snack shop. Ask for and get a hotdog with mustard. Give the hotdog to Iris. Oops. Get a hotdog with no mustard, just ketchup from the snack shop. You end up with plain hotdog. Enter the hotel and take the ketchup from the reception desk. In inventory, combine hotdog and ketchup to get hotdog with ketchup. Give hotdog with ketchup to Iris. Take the walking stick and use it on the fire escape."

Is this where you are having trouble? Did you do all of this?

It is too many years since I played the game to remember specifics but I do remember that I had a little problem in this area also because there was something I wasn't doing right. Wish I could remember better.

Re: NiBiRu - 03/04/17 02:09 PM

Jenny, I think that is probably what has happened. The game folder is in c 86 files under The adventure company. I will look some more.

Doreen

Oldbroad, yes, I have done all that several times. It seems there were quite a lot of people who had the same problem. If I can't fix it, it will be added to my list of abandoned games. It's weird, because on my walkthrough I have written ---completed Dec 27 2007, so I obviously managed to complete the game then.---Oh Well!

Doreen, I found a whole bunch of suggestions about getting the ketchup here.

Maybe one of them will help you.

Re: NiBiRu - 03/05/17 04:08 PM

Thanks Marian, but I deleted the game---too frustrating. I am now playing Dracula Origin, and hope I don't run into any glitches. My walkthrough tells me that I last played this game in May 2008 and I did complete it, so fingers crossed!

Re: NiBiRu - 10/14/18 01:16 AM

I started a replay of this game last night and I'm already stuck. I don't know the password to get in Barbora's work computer in her office. I thought it might have to do with the book on her desk that Martin comments about but I can't figure it out. I can't leave the office so the clue must be here somewhere. I don't want to start looking at a walkthrough already. Can you hit me with a hint of some kind?

Re: NiBiRu - 10/14/18 03:37 AM

The clue is in the bathroom. And be sure to remember to right click on all active items.
Posted By: oldbroad

Re: NiBiRu - 10/14/18 06:20 AM

Thanks Marian. I haven't seemed to be able to get in the bathroom but I shall try again. Martin did mention that the plant could use some water but he didn't pick it up. Only enough to find a key under it.

Yes, trying to remember to right click. The cursor color is helping with that. It won't change if you can right click.

Edit: Marian, are you at Barbora's place of employment or in her apartment? The clue to her home computer was in the washroom of the apartment. I am at her work place (sorry I cannot remember the name of it. It is not much further along in the game though. I cannot get in the washroom here and the other password doesn't work in this computer.

2nd Edit: Aha! I figured it out!

Thank you!!

Re: NiBiRu - 10/14/18 10:06 PM

Good for you for figuring it out. smile

I played this game many years ago and only really remember one thing about it - a puzzle much later in the game, one which sent me straight to a walkthrough because I never would have solved it on my own, ever!

Re: NiBiRu - 10/14/18 10:29 PM

I last played the game 10 years ago. In fact, I had installed it on my sister's computer and it was still installed and that's why I started playing it. I certainly remember parts of the game but I cannot remember the puzzle you may be talking about. I know I read something about an impossible puzzle. Maybe I purposely blotted it out of my memory. Time will tell. Right now I have just entered the camp.

Just out of curiosity though, were you giving me the hint for the office computer or were you in the apartment? The hint is the same, but changed somewhat. Either way, it helped me while re-looking at things and I do appreciate the subtle hints when one is available.

Re: NiBiRu - 10/14/18 10:34 PM

Maybe you will remember the puzzle if I say these two little words:

Click to reveal..
Rubik's cube

If it hadn't been for being able to follow the walkthrough to the letter, the game would have been utterly ruined for me with that puzzle. I remember enjoying the game otherwise, but for the life of me why anyone would throw a puzzle into the game that was so disproportionately difficult from the rest of the game is beyond my comprehension.

My hint was based on being in the apartment.

Re: NiBiRu - 10/14/18 11:00 PM

Sorry, I played the game 8 years ago, in 2010. That's where the 10 came from in my brain. The only 2 saves in that computer were from November 2010. I ended up actually playing the game in my own computer once it was fixed.

I read the review the other night because I wasn't sure about a couple of things happening in my game [black screens (normal to game) and lagging conversations (fixed by increasing the subtitles speed)] and saw those two words but I do not remember the puzzle at all. When I get to it I probably will. I think I remember reading about it somewhere else also, maybe a thread here at GameBoomers.

Re: NiBiRu - 10/17/18 02:37 AM

Okay, got stumped last night and am still stumped tonight. I'm in Francois' mansion after he was murdered and I'm trying to open the safe. I already have the Mayan map from the pyramid and I've stared at both sides of it as well as at the poster and the journal and had all 3 in close up at the same time. (Can't see them all but thought the music might mean something.) What I did not get to look at is whatever was hiding the safe, as I "uncovered" it before looking over there, so I don't know if there was something there I should have seen.

Is there any way to "hint" me?

Thanks.

Does UHS help?

Re: NiBiRu - 10/17/18 10:58 PM

Thanks Jenny100! I was pretty sure where the hint was but the safe is a little misleading, which is confirmed in hint 3 of 11 (I already knew the info in the first 2 hints), which made me go back and take another look at what I thought was right. Bingo! I figured it out! Just needed that confirmation!

Re: NiBiRu - 10/17/18 11:07 PM

That's great to hear. UHS can be quite good and I sometimes forget it as a resource.

Re: NiBiRu - 10/18/18 12:12 AM

I usually forget it too Marian, but I also hesitate to use it sometimes because, just like with a walkthrough, it is too easy to just keep looking. Fortunately, I am remembering quite a bit about this game though, so I am not totally lost.
Posted By: Marian

Re: NiBiRu - 10/18/18 12:31 AM

Yes, I know what you mean. It takes a lot of discipline not to keep looking. I have fallen into that trap many times.

Re: NiBiRu - 10/18/18 04:49 AM

I don't want to brag or anything Marian, but I just finished the colored ball puzzle in under an hour, without help. joy
Posted By: Marian

Re: NiBiRu - 10/18/18 04:50 AM

Oh, you should definitely brag! I hated that puzzle and did not have the patience for it.

Your doing that is really very impressive. praise

I am not sure that I have ever heard anyone say they solved that one on their own.
Posted By: oldbroad

Re: NiBiRu - 10/18/18 05:07 AM

Well, my memory is terrible, but since this puzzle left no impression on me, I'm thinking I solved it on my own the first time I played also, but I can't say that for certain. It took me almost as long to figure out how it worked as it did to actually solve it. I was holding my breath that I positioned the balls right before I made my last move.

I was doing that when I was following the walkthrough - there were so many steps! rotfl

Anyway, *really* remarkable what you did! smile

Re: NiBiRu - 10/18/18 06:31 PM

thanks flowers

I know I'm near the end of the game but saved after that puzzle and got out. I will hopefully finish it today.

Re: NiBiRu - 10/19/18 03:43 AM

I finished the game and then went to look at a couple of things in the walkthrough and now I'm confused. The safe puzzle? I had already entered the correct answer before even posting in here about it and I swear, it did not take. After posting here and looking at UHS hints, I did something different and thought that was what made the safe open, but looking in the walkthrough that is not what worked. It was the original thing I tried which for some reason did not work when I first tried it. I even went back in the game to test it out but I was proved wrong. duh insane

Also, the puzzle in the temple where you pick up the last statue really doesn't make sense to me. I understand how the number is calculated but I don't understand how the answers that you enter into the slabs comes out to that number. I only got this puzzle by starting with 000 and working my way up until the right combination happened. Thankfully, it was not a puzzle that you had to back out of first to see whether it worked or not.

And, you know me, I really didn't understand the story that well but I did enjoy the gameplay anyway, which is what is more important to me!

Glad I replayed and now on to something else.

Congratulations on finishing yet another game. thumbsup

If I ever see a good explanation for the solution to the puzzle in the temple, I will let you know. smile
