Schizm - 11/26/17 11:06 AM

Just bought this great game played it years ago. I am playing Hannah at the moment and she has got to the other island and has to see a ghost who will give her a gift, before she talks to Sam. I just cant connect with this ghost .I am walking in the place where I should see it but no luck. I am wondering will I need this gift later on.

I know its an old game but it is so great I am loving every minute of it. Oh! if they could make them like this now.

Re: Schizm - 11/26/17 04:06 PM

I am happy that you are able to play this again! smile

Jenny100's review says that "ghosts" give you clues and occasionally make requests of you. I am unclear, however, as to whether or not seeing this ghost is mandatory to continuing on with the game, or what you need to have done in order to see it.

Let's wait and see if someone who has played this game will be able to answer your question.

Hi I know this is a long shot as this game is an old one.
I am playing Hannah and its the telescope puzzle. It is driving me crazy. You have to read Morse code.
The problem is it changes every time you look through the telescope. I am reading Bert Jamin,s WT which is good, but the puzzle is different every game so he cant help. Has anyone any tips on this puzzle. Trying to count the flash's on the telescope and it has my eyes crossed at times.
I have been on this puzzle two days its such a super game I just want to get this puzzle done.

Hi maggsie, I found what I believe to be the saved game that you would need to get past the telescope puzzle. You can find it as a download here.

See if this helps you out.

EDIT: See Jenny's post after mine!

Thanks, Jenny - I wondered if I had the right Schizm game and also if there could be a telescope puzzle in both games. Apparently, there is. lol12

Re: Schizm - 12/16/17 05:13 PM

It would be nice if GOG released Schizm 2 (as well as Detalion's next game, Sentinel).
Unlike Schizm, Schizm 2 and Sentinel used a 3D game engine (Jupiter engine) and probably need GOG to make different tweaks so they work on modern Windows.

Thanks to you all. This is the very first " Shcizm " " Mysterious journey."
I have played this game years ago and I got through all the puzzles my self. I cant remember this puzzle been in at all, Bert Jamin said it is only in some of the games
I think I will try and work out how do this crazy puzzle. I was hoping you would know of any tips on how.
Thanks again

Re: Schizm - 12/16/17 08:11 PM

You might be able to find someone solving this puzzle on a video walkthrough on YouTube, but whether or not that would help explain how to solve it, I don't know.

Re: Schizm - 12/16/17 08:40 PM

They released Schizm 1 (Mysterious Journey 1) first on Cd-rom but later also on DVD. The DVD version of the game gives the player more freedom of movement and better grafics but it has also a few extra puzzles to solve, that aren't in the CD-rom version. But the telescope puzzle has to be solved on either versions of the game.

Years ago I have done a good text walkthrough, with screenshots, for Schizm 1 and Schizm 2 (Mysterious Journey 2) but alas......I don't have those walkthroughs any more. Maybe somebody else has those walkthroughs stil on their harddrive

If you succeed in solving the telescope puzzle than you wil face, later on in the game, an even harder task......The Railway bridge puzzle in Schizm 1....thats a real crime to solve, so I wish you succes and sorry that I couldn't be of more help. From the same makers of Schizm 1 comes Schizm 2, Reah Face Unknown and Sentinel. If I remember correctly it's almost impossible to uses somebody elses Saves in your Schizm 1 or Schizm 2 game....It takes a lot of explanation to get that right

I think it was Schizm 2 and Sentinel that had that problem -- a "feature" of the Jupiter engine. I didn't bother trying to back up saves from Schizm 2 because it looked like there was an entire save folder for each save and maybe save-related files outside the save folder. Someone at Mystery Manor may have worked it out, but it looked harder to me than any puzzle in the actual game.

The first Schizm had a normal one save file per save, with names such as Schizm.s05, Schizm.s06, etc.

I don't know if the GOG version is compatible with saves from the DVD version.

Re: Schizm - 12/17/17 09:11 AM

Thanks everyone. I will persevere with the telescope puzzle, as for the bridge puzzle I remember it well LOL
I think I used a lot of paperwork trying to beat the computer, and I did, so I am looking forward to it.
When I pulled out my old WT for this game and saw all my notes in the margin I was thrilled as I remember the great fun of beating the puzzles.
Thanks again I will let you know, not if, but when I succeed. LOL

Re: Schizm - 12/19/17 02:16 PM

Lion_1251 thanks for returning the Schizm walkthroughs to me. I made them in 2002 and 2003...Gosh...How time flies when you're getting older. I have to do some work on these Schizm walkthroughs before I dare putting them on my site because the screenshots are to dark and the general lay-out isn't up to my standards any more. But I haven't much time to spare at the moment because I'm babysitting my newley born grandson who is now 3 months old. I'm again all into diapers and babymilk these days.

Thanks Lion very thoughtful of you I would be grateful for that WT. I am doing ok with Bet Jamin at the moment but sometimes you need someone else's thoughts on certain things.
I am having a great time with this game. When I passed that puzzle its a wonder all of gameboomers didn't hear me LOL I was very vocal, so chuffed to get through it.
Thanks again to you all .I am off to Lanzarote for the Christmas so its a rest before I start it again

Re: Schizm - 12/21/17 11:16 AM

My old Schizm 1 (Mysterious Journey 1)walkthrough, from 2003, isn't very detailed so I decided to do a completely new walkthrough for Schizm 1. I have now the gog.com version of this nice old game. Don't know if this gog version is based on the cd-rom or the dvd version, but I guess I shal find this out while playing. You can check out a first bit of the new walkthrough on my website at www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl. I don't think that I can complete this walkthrough this year, so it is something to look forward to for next year, if I ever get through those pesky railway bridge puzzle again.

O.....then I need the Schizm walkthrough from Bert Jamin. But you got it here on gameboomers so I go and grab it. Need it for the extra puzzles that aren't in the origenal cd-rom version of the game. I shall mention in the walkthrough that I got those parts from Bert's walkthrough.

Thank you so much Louis. I have just got back from Lanzarote and I am looking forward to those crazy bridge puzzles.

Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Schizm - 12/31/17 07:58 PM

My new Schizm 1 (Mysterious Journey 1) walkthrough is ready and it awaits you on my site at www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl. This walkthrough is based on the gog.com edition of the game, witch in return is based on the original DVD version of the game.

Through the walkthrough you can also download my saves for this game. The saves are for the Telescope/morse code puzzle and the 2 Railroad Bridge puzzles and also for the drawbridge puzzle. The saves are in a zip file and an explanation (in English and Dutch) is included. I do not know if these save also work with the original DVD edition of the game, to be honest...I doubt it but I'm not sure

Re: Schizm - 01/06/18 02:12 PM

Through the statistics of my site I see that several people have downloaded my Save games for Schizm 1. Don't know if these peoples are members of gameboomers, but if so I would very much like to know if the saves work in your Schizm game or with the original DVD version of the game. If it works I leave the saves on my site. If the saves doesn't work then I remove them from the site, because I do not like to have things on my site that doesn't work for you.

Re: Schizm - 01/06/18 05:25 PM

Hi Louis I have been trying on your site to get the save for the bridge puzzle and I cant find the saves at all. I must be looking in the wrong place got the Wt. but cant find the saves.

Hi Jenny I got the save off your site and I am totally in a mess. In the game I have over- written on the saves as there are only 16. I am stuck with the bridge puzzle on which is now No.5 .
Your save is No.12 as I recall and I tried to insert it in my save ( I had to download "photojockey " to get it) .I copied it and pasted into No.6 then it went straight to the top of my saves, went into my game and its not there. Phew!!!! What a mess it looks like I will have to try and do this puzzle.
I know I am not the sharpest knife in the block when it comes to tweaking stuff on my pc.
I hope you can understand my ramblings

Re: Schizm - 01/06/18 05:48 PM

Hi Maggsie,

to insert the saved game schizm s.12 go to the folder where Schizm is installed, open the folder and there you find the saved games.
you have to delete the save game schizm s.12 if you have it in your folder and then copy the schizm s.12, that you have downloaded, and paste that in the folder.

that should work, start then the game and then you should see save game schizm s.12.

Well, first off it's not "my" save. It's from the Mystery Manor website and was uploaded by "Fairygdmther". I don't know if the save is from the DVD version or the CD version of Schizm, so there is the possibility of an incompatibility. It's certainly not from the GOG version because the date on it is 2003.

I've never heard of "photojockey" and don't know why you'd need it to download anything. It has very poor ratings at Microsoft Store.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/photo-jockey/9pm6pfgt6n2h

The save file you download from Mystery Manor should be called Schizm12.zip and should extract (using Winzip, 7zip, or Windows built-in unzipping utility) to a save file called Schizm.s12
The Schizm.s12 file is what you should put in your save folder, and you should always back up your old saves elsewhere on your hard drive (like to a folder on your Desktop) before overwriting them. If the file you downloaded has any other extension than .s12, either the .zip on the original file or some other extension "Photo Jockey" might have put on it, it won't work.

And it might not work anyway if it's not for your version of the game. The Mystery Manor description doesn't say if it's for the CD version or the DVD version.

I don't know about this game, but in some cases it's helpful to rename the save you downloaded to the name of your most recent save file (back up your own save elsewhere or rename it to something like Schizm.s12.bak so it doesn't get overwritten).

I don't see the download links either, but since they're from the GOG version of the game they may be more compatible with your game than the saves on the Mystery Manor website.

Re: Schizm - 01/06/18 06:15 PM

You don't need any third party software to download a saved game from Mystery Manor. You would simply download using your browser. I'm somewhat concerned that you say you needed this "photojocky." As Jenny says, it's got some very poor ratings.

Hi Maggsie and Jenny,

The save file were on the website of Marinus_Louis but now not.

If you need a savegame for the railbridgepuzzel I have one that is good for the GOG version of the game.

Re: Schizm - 01/06/18 06:48 PM

And if you ever download saved games from Mystery Manor again, just click on the "download" button and your browser should down it directly to your "Downloads" folder. From there you can move it wherever you need to and rename if necessary.

And don't just delete that program - uninstall it.

Re: Schizm - 01/06/18 07:25 PM

I'm so asshamed.....I uploaded the wrong version of the start page of my Schizm 1 walkthrough and there was indeed no download link for my Schizm 1 saves on that page. Have correct this error. You can now find the Schizm Saves download link on the startpage of my Schizm 1 walkthrough. Just scrol down the page and you wil see the link.

Its a zip file. After downloading you have to unzip it. I have put in a word document with instructions of how to use the saves in your Schizm 1 game. This instructions are in Dutch and in English. I have tested the saves myself in a new installment of the game and it works just fine. I now go find a hole to duck in and hide myself for a bit until my shamefull mistake has been forgiven

Re: Schizm - 01/07/18 11:39 AM

I was asking myself if everyone is aware what happens when you use a save game from somebody else in your game. You wil loose your own progress in the game and this could be a problem in games that aren't linear in design. In a game like Schizm, where you go from A to B and then to C and so on, this isn't a problem. But in games where you have freedom in witch order you play the game, this could be a problem....It could mean that you have to do parts of the game, you had done already, over again if the player that provide the save game played the game in a different order than you did.
