Missing---Sothir - 07/11/04 12:55 AM

Okay.....can someone please tell me how to move these circles? I keep trying but they seem to keep moving everywhere but where I try getting them to go. This game would be fun if the puzzles weren't so frustrating.
It has a great idea behind it tho.

Hi, kid!

Did you have any success because I'm stuck where you are? I know what I'm supposed to do (which is rare with this game <>G>), but I also can't figure out how to move the circles around so they end up where I want them to. They seem to have a mind of their own :-)!

Well Susie, my helper on the internet with this game said to push them gently and slowly to where you want them. Tried that for two days, gave up on it and uninstalled the game. Don't want to play a game that is more frustration than enjoyment.
Hope you get past this point and are enjoying the game.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/12/04 08:37 PM

Hi, kid!

Actually, this game is not at all what I thought it would be. So far, it's just been a series of arcade-type puzzles and viewing videos after each puzzle is solved. I've tried pushing and pulling the circles, but they seem to go wherever they want. The only other puzzle I still have to solve in that section is the one where you gather letters one at a time to spell out SOL INVICTUS. However, once I've gathered two or three letters, all the rest of the letters and the stars seem to gravitate towards me, so I haven't managed to get any further than SOL IN <sigh>

With the SOL INVICTUS puzzle when the stars would come towards me I would try to avoid them as much as possible. You can also stop and then you can hold all the letters together for a moment. That helped me.
I was hoping that the game would be different also. Because the premise behind the game is really cool. I didn't like the arcade games either. They were more annoying than it was worth.
Hope you get through it. Keep me posted.

Hi, kid!

Thanks for the tip. I've tried avoiding the other letters and the stars, but they keep getting me!

For some reason, I thought "Missing" was like any other adventure game with the addition of Emails to serve as clues. I thought I'd be visiting various locations and talking to other characters while solving puzzles. Not at all.

Hi, kid!

I'm about ready to give up as well. How the heck are you supposed to move the circles to where you want them to go? I try grabbing them but nothing happens. Finally, through no fault of my own, all of the circles ended up in the box above the words "Agia Sophia", so I waited, but nothing happened. I thought that was the object of the puzzle, unless the circles have to be in an *exact* spot above those two words, in which case, I'm done!

Susie and Dagokid,
Had a flood in my basement, so have'nt been much help, but I found these 2 threads helpful:
"Adventure Ganers"
http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showthread.php?t=779&page=1&pp=20
and "Four Fat Chicks"
For the string of letters, i got frustrated at just getting some, so I waved the string of letters madly back and forth, and it worked.
For the Hagia Sophia, I followed the directions in the thread (above the door, and to the right, something like that. Could only get 1 clump where it was suposed to be, let go and gently guided the other to where I thought it should be, and it worked,
Susie, before you give this game up, too, try doing using the game's Google search engine, on the book about The Spirit of the Unicorn. I don't know, for sure if it's even a real book, but the protagonist seems to be an awful lot like-
the Phoenix.

Big oops- NOT Spirit.
"Rhapsody for a Unicorn"
Sorry.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/13/04 02:28 PM

Hi, Kathy!

Thanks for the links but, the problem is, I can't seem to interact with the circles. When I click on them, they just float right on past my cursor. When I try to push them, they go in whatever direction they choose.

BTW, I did eventually get all of the circles touching the dotted line on the right side of the box (how, I'll never know) just above the words "Agia Sophia" and nothing happened.

It sure would have been nice if the game developers included a bypass for some of these puzzles. I'm an extremely persistent person and hate to give up, but I'm quickly losing my patience with this game.

I am with you Susan. I tried for two days. Gently pushed, pushed hard, tried clicking, tried everything with those circles. They wanted to hang out everywhere but where I needed them. I did give up.......I don't usually.....but it was more frustrating that it was worth. But I will print this thread and try again some other time.

BTW Thanks Kathy..will check out those links

Hi, kid!

I don't mind frustrating puzzles if I'm enjoying the game (heck, it took me about 8 years to solve the final kiva puzzle in "Shivers 2" <G>), but I'm not really enjoying "Missing". I'll try again later tonight, but I thought I did solve it because all of the circles were inside the box above the words AGIA SOPHIA and nothing happened.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/13/04 10:13 PM

I GIVE UP!!!!! I have all five circles inside the box just above the words "Agia Sophia" for the second time and, again, nothing happens. I have no idea what the problem is but, at this point, I don't really care. If the circles not only have to be inside the box but positioned in an exact spot, I'm outta there.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/14/04 01:30 AM

Okay....that are supposed to be to the right of the words against the dashed line on the right. If that makes sense. I figured they only had to be in the box.
I enjoy challenging puzzles but like you I have to be enjoying the game.
Let me know if you try anymore. Have a great evening.

Hi, kid!

I thought the circles were supposed to be above the words <sigh>! On the plus side, I finally joined the words together to spell out SOL INVICTUS and saw another video.

I'll give "Sothir" another shot, but I'm not gonna spend much more time on it.

You have a great evening as well :-)!

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/14/04 12:20 PM

Susan -

A few weeks ago I got stuck in Sothir. I called tech support. They couldn't help me. I asked my team mate for help and she copied my email to someone else. When I try to push the orbs, my cursor flickers and for an instant I can see the "hand" and then it's gone.

Therefore, I can't proceed.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/14/04 02:11 PM

Hi, Teddo!

That's what happens to me as well. I briefly see the "hand" whenever I touch the circles, and then it quickly disappears and the circles go whichever way they choose. I *finally* got them inside the box above the words "Agia Sophia", but now discover that they have to be in a different location inside the box.

IMHO, it would be in the best interest of the game developers to have included a bypass for puzzles such as this, because if at least 3 of us here are stuck on the same puzzle, I'm betting there's a lot more out there.

I tried again last night for awhile, without success, so I'm about ready to give up.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/14/04 06:46 PM

Hi, kid!

I finally solved the puzzle, or perhaps it detected my complete frustration and solved itself because all of the circles weren't even inside the box when the screen cleared and moved on to the next puzzle. There's always the possibility that I had actually did solve it, and there was a delayed reaction <G>!

After all that, I wasn't even rewarded with another crummy video <eg>!

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/14/04 11:26 PM

No video Susan. That would have upset me. Let me know if and when you get further if it is worth continuing. If it is worth it then maybe I will reinstall. Keep me updated.

BTW Susan, congratulations on completing that puzzle.

Hi, kid!

Nope, no video <G>! I must admit that the next few puzzles were a lot better, and I've received several new Emails and viewed more videos.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/15/04 05:18 PM

In the Soph thing I've found that if you drag the orange target slowly, avoiding boundaries and stars, you can eventually get it to the last place. However it seems you have to do it 4 times before the password apprears. It's the name of the detective who investigated the death of Karen's father. I keep trying and trying, need to get it one more to get the password. It's real frustrating; I just keep hoping there's more to this that what we've seen. I'm disappointed too.

Re: Missing---Sothir - 07/15/04 05:41 PM

Hi, Patzi!

Are you talking about SYRO? If so, after only completing the maze twice, I received an Email from Fe256 containing the password. There is no way I would have been able to get through that maze two more times.

Some of the puzzles are enjoyable, but I'm finding most of them more trouble than they're worth.
