Dracula Ressurection and an emac--HELP!!! - 11/17/02 03:19 AM

Hi,
My name is Kelli, and I'm not only new to this group, but new to an emac (former PC user). I successfully installed Dracula Ressurrection, however, when I find myself standing in front of the inn, I have the icon indicating that no player movement is allowed (I am able to look in 360 degrees). What am I doing wrong? Or is it just a glitch, or is there something that I neglected to do as the beginning of the story is being told?
Any Mac users out there that can help a girl out?
Thanks!!!

Ok, I just found a walkthrough--it confirms that when the video introduction ends you are standing in front of the Inn. So you didn't miss any action before where you are now. At this point, you will need three clicks forward to take you into the Inn, so I assume that is two forward and then one to enter the door....

Thanks again, Jenny, but all I get is that "dot within a dot" meaning "no action is possible", and no amount of clickin, ~, up/down/left/right arrows work, nor does the ctrl or space bar....the only icons that work are esc and the back (the u-turned arrow).
If you know any Mac users that might be able to help, that would be wonderful!!
Basically, I can't "move", and have the same problem with "The Messenger", so it must be a Mac glitch, even tho both games are the Mac version.
Again, thanks for your help and sleep well, as I too think I've had enough of messin with this for the night. <img border="0" alt="woozy" title="" src="graemlins/woozy.gif" />

Good Morning Kelli,

I looked at Dreamcatcher's Help desk - Dracula FAQ

They said for Mac - 2: When clicking on the icon to start the game, the game will not start.
A2: Ensure the screen is set higher than 256 colors. Otherwise, the game will not run.

Check there and also mail the help desk with explanation of the problem and they might get you through while we wait for Mac gamers, OK.

Another update--what operating system are you using, Kelli? This is what my Mac expert says:

Is Dracula Resurrection OS X compatible? No. The game was developed under OS 8 and is incompatible with OS X and OS X running in OS 9 Classic Mode. If the system is rebooted into OS 9 (This can be changed under System Preferences, Startup Disk) the game will work if the game is installed and played under the native OS 9.

I hope that means something to you--it's all Greek to me.... lol

Hello Kelli and Welcome to the greatest game board on the internet.

Sorry you are having a problem. Your eMac in an awesome machine. Do you just have OS X on the Mac or do you also have OS 9xx? If you have the two systems, I would suggest to go to Preferences and click on System-Startup Disk and highlight the OS 9 icon and restart the Mac. You will then be in the native OS 9 and not "Classic".

These games that were for "Mac" only play much better in the OS 9 environment.

It wouldn't hurt to go to the games site and see if they have any patches for OS X.

HTH.
