If You've Played AGON: The Lost Sword of Toledo

If You've Played AGON: The Lost Sword of Toledo - 04/08/08 08:36 AM

I've just ordered it (the plastic of my credit card is still smoking). I found that the environments in the previous AGON game were beautiful and I thought that the puzzles were tricky. By the end of the game I was a big fan of Professor Hunt.

Is Lost Sword of Toledo similar to the previous games? If so, how? Is there anything I should be keeping an eye out for as I play?

It's also colorful, more puzzles, longer storyline and logical.
It is a fun game.

I just finished it Becky- enjoyed it a lot-- then I went back into my pile of to be played and pulled out Agon The Mysterious Codex--- I had fun all over again-- the game play and environment are very similar--- just know you're going to enjoy it.

Finished Sword a couple of weeks ago. Great game, enjoyed it more than the other three, like MaG says, more fun and logical puzzles.
The game flowed nicely and I didn't get stuck at all. Think I got very lucky, but found the end puzzle game rather easy, and it ended all too quickly. cry Hope the rest of the 10(I believe there are 14) episodes are the same. wave

It's a lot longer than the other episodes (especially the first). I played the first three to prepare myself for reviewing Toledo, and enjoyed them, but I'm glad I didn't buy the three of them separately at full price. Toledo is a full-length adventure game in itself - it shouldn't be called an episode, in my opinion, because people will compare with Sam and Max and think it's way overpriced which it definitely isn't.

Sounds great; I've just finished and replayed Cleopatra (yes, it's that short) and will be moving on to Toledo next. I've played the first three episodes to be prepared for episode 4 which I'll have to review. I thought that the first episode was very short - in fact, I'd have been pretty angry if I had paid the full price for the first episode. I enjoyed the third one, though; it gave me a bit of a taste of what was to come in the next episodes of the series smile

Gerry -- it's not in stores, and there's no info I've seen so far on a North American publisher. You can get it online through Interact, though.

The game is available as a purchase online. It is not a download, you can order a boxed version at InteractCD.

I've played them in chronological order which is useful when you're new to Agon. The first episode gives you a short overview of what the story will be about; you don't get to do much, it's more of a prologue, introducing you to the mystery of Agon. Episode 2 takes you to Lapland where you need to find the first boardgame and beat its keeper. After that, you move on to Madagascar to find the second boardgame. The episodes become longer as they progress; episode 1 is pretty short while episode 3 takes a while to finish. Also, the puzzles are a lot trickier. Of the first 3 episodes, I think I liked episode 3 best - mainly for the beautiful graphics (that sunset was amazing) and the tricky puzzles.

However, I think you could also start with Lost Sword of Toledo since it doesn't require you to know the background story; it's a new story in itself, the mystery of Agon is being pushed back a little and isn't as predominate as in the predecessors. Also, if you need background, there's Dorothy's table in the main menu to look at; it summarizes the story so far and gives you som background information. The puzzles in Lost Sword of Toledo are a little easier than in episode 3 but still quite a challenge.
