Kid's adventure games input

Well, I've gone & done it. I've turned my daughter & 2 granddaughters, 5 & 10 year olds, into adventure gamers by sending them Nancy Drew Message in a Haunted Mansion.

I'm now a lending library but would like to also get them some of their own games. (I have ROS, TOS, & 2 Nancy Drews on the way to them.)

They love the Nancy Drew's, but are there others that both girls would enjoy and maybe some that the younger one would be able to play with less help? I bought her one of the Barbie's and she loved it.

My nephew loves the Harry Potter games.
Inferno

Putt-Putt, Freddi Fish and Spy Fox for the 5 year old.
Scooby-Doo games for the 10 year old.

They would enjoy playing all of these together.

The Day the World Broke is pretty good. But I don't know how well it works in XP (if that's what you have).

Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado was fun.

The Carmen SanDiego games are fun, too! My son also loved the Neverhood, and Clue Chronicles but he needed me to help.

I liked the Pink Panther games and Zoombinis. PP's are adventure with inventory based puzzles and Zoombinis are logic puzzles. Both groups are excellent. I will donate 2 Barbie's (Adventure2 and Storymaker) to the cause - they're in my free list in the trading post. The Barbie Adventure2 was like a short Nancy Drew and actually my daughter and I think it's the same voice. Email me.

My granddaughters (4 and 7) thoroughly enjoy the "Barbie Rapunzel" and "Beauty and the Beast" games. And the Scooby Doo games are favorites, too. The younger one needs help with some of the Scoobys, but the 7 year old has no trouble.

Wow, thank you all for all the suggestions! This is great. In fact, I think we need a GB list for young adventurers. I'm busily copying & pasting & compiling a list, so why don't I post it and keep adding to it here for everyone, what do you think?

I know the older one has one of the Harry Potter games, which I bought for her in December (I don't remember which though)

Please help me age-rate these. When my kids were growing up, there was no such thing as personal computers and the grandkids live too far away so I have no experience with these games. (It looks like I can age-rate them from Quandary's list now.)

How about Blues Clues? I remember buying some of them for my older granddaughter when she was a wee one. Are they adventures?

The Famous Five games are really great for kids, but they're somewhat hard to get, or at least some of them are. There are 5 of them. Not sure what age group they are good for, perhaps somebody else knows. Probably at least age 8 and up. I played them myself and don't have kids. (I'm just a big kid at heart! )

There were also 2 "Detective Barbie" games that although easy, were very enjoyable.

I just finished Famous Five Treasure Island. I thought it was a great little game. Its rated for ages 8-12. And I only needed one hint throughout the game. Its only drawback is the lenght. I finished it in around 2-3 hours total playing time.

My granddaughters are 7 and 9 and enjoy a variety of computer games, always have. I have some kids games left from my TP listing I am going to mail to you this coming week. They are for you to use for them, send them home with them, and to share with others if you already have any of them.
My girls like all the Blues Clues games, Pajama Sam games, ClueFinders (they are adventure games and are broken down into school grade levels - the kids learn and reinforce their school skills while having lots of fun), and the JumpStart game series are also fun and good learning tools, also categorized by subject and grade level.

You might also play or replay Dark Fall with the 10 year old helping you - my 9 year old just loves that game even tho they are not here long enough for us to get very far in the game - if/when she is here for 4-5 days again we may try it again and get further along.

If they already have some of them, I can give them to my neighbor (she's 6)unless you want to hang onto them for someone else or a trade?

I'm hoping to have a visit from the kids for the holidays this year & will hang onto some of them to play here also.

My daughter wants to play Dark Fall with the older girl, so I'm sending her that one in the next batch. I thought she would love that one too. It's good to know your 10 year old likes it.

I never played them but have seen Scooby Doo games on the store shelves in the past. Here's a list of Kid's game reviewed by Quandary .

Fairytale is also supposed to be a kids game.. maybe they will find it easier than we did

Chemicus, Physicus and Bioscopia coult appeal to your older grandchildren, the Living books series may appeal to the younger generation, especially Tortoise and the Hare

I forgot about Fairytale. I've read the threads on this game and it sounds great. Do you think a 5 year old could play it with some help from her sister?

Whenever you have time to test The Day the World Broke, will be great, Tigger. My daughter isn't too computer savvy at tweaking so they have to be minimal tweaks. Thanks!

Hi Mel, the games will be in the mail to you this AM. We are going to pick up "commodities" and then the post office nearby there to get my Genealogy Clubs mail and I am going to mail it then. Mr. Bill's Adventureland also has lists and reviews of children's games.

I especially like Tivola's games. They have Where's the Blanket, Charlie Brown? Black Cats and Pointed Hats, the Max adventures, and several others. Viva Media now carries them.

The kids were really excited when I told them they had several games coming, thanks to you & Carolyn. Their mom was pretty happy also seeing as how during summer vacation it's always a challenge keeping them busy.

It sure is nice being a hop, skip & jump from each other, especially convenient when mailing things back & forth.

Studying genealogy must be interesting! Do you investigate your family & friends' history or public figures too?

No, just researching my and hubbys familys. No celebreties found in them yet. War heroes tho.
And for the kids games, I went to Big Lots and found the box with 3 MAX games for 5.99 a great deal and even my 9 year old has tried them, they're just simple fun! Let me know when the games arrive, sent them out yesterday AM first class, you should have them by today or tomorrow.

That is a great deal! I don't know of any places here to find buys like that & wouldn't have time to do the shopping since you have to check often to get those deals. I have to find my deals online.

Between working full time & taking care of my sick hubby & the 3 cats, just getting a chance to play my games is a challenge.

Does Catsmom live down my way? Do you get together often for BAAG sessions? I don't know if I'd be able to get away, but maybe. That would be fun. Let me know when your next shopping expedition is.

Freddi Fish is adorable and not as easy as it seems at first. I love it. Will have to play with this one a little before passing it on.

I haven't had a chance to check out the others yet since I just got home from work, but I will before sending them on, big kid that I am. Uh-hmm, for research purposes & to help the kids only, of course.

She is north of the San Francisco area. We get together about every 4 or 5 months or so. Maybe she will be back before winter now. Will let you know by posting it here when we plan our next Mall visit. Glad the games arrived OK.
