The Witch's Yarn runs on Macintosh. Heck, it was built on a Macintosh, PowerBook to be specific. It's a game designed to introduce adventure gaming to novices. Very easy to pick up and play. Challenges ramp up slowly. Good story.

I think that list was first posted when I asked about Mac games to get my mom interested in adventure gaming.

I bought her and my dad Law & Order: Dead on the Money for Christmas. I'll let you all know if they like it.

I wish the Agatha Christie game were released for the Mac... my mother loves Agatha Christie and if any game would pique her interest, it would be that one.

Thanx, Keith! I'll check that out!

Yes, fov, I wish they would too!
That would be a great one
to get her hooked and I'd sure
go for it! laugh

If you play some of the older ones, like 7th Guest, you might be interested in the tips on playing on this site.

Scroll down and click where it says "Let's roll..."

His description of why you don't want to use the installer that came with 7th Guest is worth looking at (if you decide to play the Mac version).

Good info, Jenny. THANK YOU!
I haven't played that one in a long time,
but liked it enough to play it again.

Re: List of Mac Adventure Games - 12/14/05 11:22 AM

I used to own a Mac and I had some good games for it that are missing on that list, for example

Broken Sword 1 (Circle of Blood), Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within, Phantasmagoria 1, Traitors Gate and the first Atlantis game. Don't know if they will run on OS X though. I think my old Performa had OS 7.5.3 installed...

I had trouble installing Circle of Blood on my iMac in 9.2, but I have yet to try it on my laptop that has 9.1. I have The Beast Within, Under a Killing Moon, and Phantasmagoria but haven't tried to play them yet.

Yes frazap, and there are some newer games that are missing from that list too, but this will give a new Mac owner something to start on. I hope. laugh

I hope they work OK LadyK. I think that I was on OS 8 something when I tried those. Never tried Circle of Blood though.

Doing some kind of webpage on what will play on what is on my list of things to think about doing.

What would be good to know is how generally useful that's going to be, and whether people would help doing it.

Peter, good question.
What kind of help can we give?

Re: List of Mac Adventure Games - 12/15/05 04:35 PM

Hello BeaSong,

What I'm thinking about is having a database of games which people can edit over the web to say Game X works / doesn't work on Platform Y OS version Z with a comment.

I think one might need an authorisation scheme to control who could edit.

The best explanation would be to actually set it up. If anyone else creates such a web database I'll quite happily applaud them!

Regards, Peter.

Oh, good idea!
Let's hope that this can happen!
I wouldn't know how to set it up,
but I could sure contribute after
that.
