Did you see it, as I did by chance ? <img border="0" alt="[nod]" title="" src="graemlins/nod.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[winky]" title="" src="graemlins/winky.gif" />

Have to admit Len - I didn't like it well enough and was too annoyed with the characters spastic movements to care much about math errors <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" />

Hi,
I LOVED Post Mortem, but I'm not very observant - kind of sad for an adventure gamer, isn't it?

There's a math error?

haven't played it yet.....ok, where is the math error?? that's really interesting.....you'd think someone would have caught it before it went out..........you are VERY observant LenG!!

besides, i'm not at all good at math!

~~SYD~~
I don't like the faces or figures or movements either (I haven't finished it yet ... only about 3/4's way through, one path only).

~~mszv~~
Yes there IS ... I 'discovered' it quite by chance! eek

I finished the game a couple of weeks ago and I can't remember any math at all - unless it was mixing the potion in the lab.

~~Liz~~
Since you haven't started it, don't let it disturb you --- it doesn't affect the gameplay ... and is only really a nitpick.

BTW --- It's not really MATH ... Just simple addition (Clue ! rolleyes )

If I knew how to contact Microids, I'd do so (just for their info) ... but I don't ! laugh

I'm playing this now and LOVE it. I love the characters and the movements. Much better than the repetitive movements in Faust. I think the characters are very realistic but maybe I'm easy to please smile The scenes of Paris are awesome. At the moment I'm stuck and I haven't seen any math as yet (or addition). If you know where any keys are, though, I'd be glad to hear about it lol

So Len, are you going to tell us what the error is, or just keep us in the dark? I've already played, and I'm not going to reintall and play again just to find it. smile

Which part of the game is this math error in? First half or second half?

Whenever anybody wants it!
I would certainly NOT recommend anybody reinstalling & playing again just to view a trivial error (although it DID trip me up for a short while).

~~ Jenny100 ~~

I haven't finished the game yet so I don't really know what is the first half & what is the second.
The UHS-File gives 4 main 'sections' ...........
(1) MacPherson (2) Prime Suspect (3) MacPherson again (4) Endgame.

The error (which is not too easily spotted) is in (3).

OK. I'm not that far into the game yet.

Oooh, that's where I am. Now my mission is to find it smile

PS-Syd, spastic movements? Could it be your computer? My characters seem to move smoothly. Just wondering????

Found it. One line adds up with 5 more than all the others on one chart in the lab.

Hi burpee - it was when they were standing still. It was the flaying of arms and twitching of heads that bugged me - I sooooo wanted to duct tape their arms to their sides lol

Re: "Post Mortem" ~ notice the math error ? - 06/02/03 01:13 PM

lol My characters aren't "twitching" but they do like to use their arms to talk. Hellouin even looks like (WARNING-do not read any further if you are squeamish) he's going to pick his nose sometimes lol Of course, he' just touching his moustache.

So far, there have been enough characters with different movements that it hasn't bothered me but if there's any looooong scenes coming up where I have to watch the same person over and over...well, I might need your duct tape too!

Re: "Post Mortem" ~ notice the math error ? - 06/02/03 05:29 PM

Oh, so it's in one of those "magic square" charts. I didn't notice it, because I don't think I added up every single line.

Syd, those repetative, swaying movements, annoyed me too; wondered why they couldn't stand still, once in a while.

Re: "Post Mortem" ~ notice the math error ? - 06/02/03 06:23 PM

On the swaying movements, I think it was a noble attempt on the part of the developers, but it doesn't quite work. I believe they wanted to capture the natural movements people make, when they are talking to you - people move, they aren't inert objects. Perhaps the developers ran into limitations of technology. Maybe next time, if this is attempted, the movements will be more subtle. I'm glad they tried it though, I rather like seeing how it worked, and it did add to the game for me.

Oh, I seem to have hijacked the thread - sorry. I did like reading about the math error!

Nor did I ... far from it !

But it's a bit disturbing when you're almost certain in advance that you've got a 'magic square'. Then, just to check, you add up a single line at random and get 175, and then the row next to it gives 180 !!
BTW ... identical for a pair of columns! blush

The 'culprit' in both cases being a #38 which should be a #33. <img border="0" alt="[winky]" title="" src="graemlins/winky.gif" />

Can anybody advise me how to contact Microids to inform them of this error? laugh

I agree with Mszv and Burpee. <img border="0" alt="[nod]" title="" src="graemlins/nod.gif" /> In fact, I actually like the movements and loved the game.

Some nationalities talk with their hands and bodies more than others and I thought the character's movements were very continental!

regards, asazen

btw, I didn't notice the maths mistake but I think I'll have to go look for it now smile

Ohhhh, I wasn't sure what that number was - so I just interpreted it as the one that would work. lol

Hey I'll shove a square peg in a round hole if it'll get me through the game. wink
