Sims 2: Basements - 02/27/05 08:32 PM

Hi there,

My daughter and I are trying to build a basement and can't figure it out. Could someone give us instructions?

Thank you

Hi,

To push the ground down for a basement...you have to use the terrain tool.

Use the one that shows the curve going down and hold the left mouse button down until you have the depth you want in a small area. Next you can level the rest of the ground to match the new level. For that you use the level one that has the arrows above and below on it.

You need to go down far enough so you are able to place a door to go out.

That sounds simple enough but it doesn't seem to work. I can't place a staircase to get back to the first floor or put in walls. I know it's plenty deep enough so what am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Well...I haven't acually made a basement myself but I did ask my son who has and he told me this.

To make it the right depth...you have to use one panel of wallpaper on the wall to let you know how deep to go.

You have to leave one square of ground next to the wall inside and the rest of the floor will be the depth of the wallpaper.

You also have to put a foundation down first to be able to have a basement.

You can dig out some ground outside next to a wall and then be able to place a door in the wall to go out.

Of course I have to try all of this out myself to see how it all works but everytime I go to do it I get sidetracked with doing something else. Sigh. I will try it soon and see for myself how it works.

I figured it out VHL. I made a foundation and took the middle out then lowered the ground until I could put in a staircase up to the first floor. Now I have a cool new pool in my basement. It's a liile wierd but fun.

Hi,

ALRIGHT!!! You did it.

I also kept trying yesterday and did it by myself. Everything is easy once you know how hehe.

I don't know about anybody else but I am having a blast playing Sims 2 Archer.

Hi,

Yes you can download all kinds of Objects and Sims and Lots.

You can even download a new Neighborhood called ying-yang which is a round Island with a river running through it.

It isn't all that big but I did manage to get a lot of houses onto it.

Oooh. Where'd you get that neighborhood, VHL?

Re: Sims 2: Basements - 03/04/05 12:44 PM

Hi,

You have to go to the Sims 2 site to get it.

Here:

TheSims2.com - Home

http://thesims2.ea.com/

Also once you get it....you have to put it into this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\mom\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\SC4Terrains

This is where Windows 2000 places the Sims 2 game.

On Windows 98 it may be just

C:\EA Games\The Sims 2\SC4Trrains

So where ever the game is you put it into the SC4Trrains folder. Hopes this helps if anyone didn't know where to put it once you download it.

Its in the News Archive under February 24, 2005

Find the Balance (it says on the link to download it).

Then when you click on the link....that page will have
Ying-Yang neighborhood to download there.
