Re: Jazz/Faust - 07/01/03 04:08 AM

I didn't need a patch but I do have this note on my computer that says:

1. Download the patch
2. Run the file (self-extracting archive)
3. Enter path to game installation folder
4. Press unzip button
5. Close window after archive contents are unzipped.

If I can find it for you I'll edit this post and let you know. laugh

Ok BillyBob, where did the patch go? I put it in D and unzipped it so did it automatically install to the game or do I have to go look for it? I found 1c on my D drive so I am assuming it went there.

I don't know where it went. See my post above as to the sequence of unzipping and installing but it might be best to go back to that site and see what it says about installing.

I don't know what OS you're using but I have Windows98. If you go to Start; Find and put in the date and D drive you might can find it that way.

Another idea is to simply look in D drive and see what is new in there with the days date that you unzipped it. "1c" might be it but I don't know. laugh

Here are the instructions I have for the patch:

Quote:

PATCH

Important notice! This patch is working only for US, Russian, Czech, Hungarian and Polish versions of the game. All other versions already feature improvements that are listed below.

All the fixes from the first patch will be available in the second patch as well.

How to install:

Download file:

jaf_upd2_z1.exe (644 096 bytes) - U.S. and Polish version
jaf_upd2_z2.exe (669 696 bytes) - Russian version
jaf_upd2_z3.exe (644 096 bytes) - Czech and Hungarian version

Run the file (self-extracting archive)
Enter path to game installation folder
Press unzip button
Close window after archive contents are unzipped.

Fixes and improvements:

Patch 2:
Fixed a crash bug in the Faust's part when Jazz steals half of the crystal.

Patch 1:
Fixed a crash bug in Port location (software mode).
Added compatibility mode for ATI Radeon 7200, 7500, 8500 cards.
Fixed a crash bug with ATI Radeon 7000 card.

Launch setup menu (setup.exe file in the game's folder) and turn on "ATI Radeon Compatibility" option to run the game in ATI Radeon compatibility mode.
So if you entered D: as the patch to the game installation folder, it would have unzipped stuff to D: instead. If you entered a folder on the D: drive, then it would have unzipped to that folder.

The two files in the zip are called jaf.exe and config.exe. So if you have these files lying around doing nothing in D:, you can copy them to your game folder.

Re: Jazz/Faust - 07/02/03 04:00 AM

Look at my posting above under where it says Fixes and improvements. It helps with problems of ATI Radeon cards, which is why I used it.

AdventureGamer.........

Is your picture too dark to see the people? Or is it something else that is wrong?

Re: Jazz/Faust - 07/02/03 07:32 PM

No it isn't too dark. Simply I can't see any 3D object, I can't even see the people in game, only the place where am I.

Re: Jazz/Faust - 07/02/03 07:56 PM

That's a new one on me. Could you have need for adjusting your Video Acceleration?

I'm sure someone will come along with an answer for you if we bat this back and forth enough. laugh

Re: Jazz/Faust - 07/02/03 08:16 PM

Which video card are you using?
Have you tried playing in a different screen resolution?
(I forget if there is an option to select screen resolution in Jazz and Faust, but when I played Arthur's Knights I had to change my screen resolution to 800x600 in the game options. If I left it at the default (which was 640x480) I'd only see a little sliver of the character(s) in Arthur's Knights instead of the whole person.)

Re: Jazz/Faust - 07/03/03 05:11 PM

I'm using ATI Rage 8mb, there is no option in J&F to change resolution. If I change resolution on Windows will in game be any effect?

Re: Jazz/Faust - 07/03/03 06:20 PM

Have you checked to see if changing any choices made in the "Setup" menu will make a difference? If you look on the game disk you will find a manual for the game which includes everything from installing and playing to suggestions for fixing problems with the game. laugh

No. Changing resolution in Windows won't effect what resolution the game tries to run at. Try running the config.exe file that is in the game folder. Turn off all the extra effects like shadows. If you absolutely have to, tell it not to use hardware acceleration because that sometimes makes objects disappear. The game may look OK if you disable hardware acceleration and enable True Color. You don't have to turn down the hardware acceleration for all of Windows - just in the game.
