The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 01/25/08 03:31 PM

The Experiment (previously known as Experience 112 and Experiment 112) will be shipping to retail stores in North America on February 5th.

Storyline:

Quote:
Begin your innovative shared adventure in what appears to be a deserted old ship, grounded ashore on a beautiful Pacific island. You mysteriously find yourself in the ship’s operations room faced with a highly advanced panel of controls, surveillance monitors, and a wide array of sophisticated technology. As you watch the monitors for other signs of life, you discover a woman. Unable to find a way to communicate with her directly, you realize that you are her only hope. She needs your help.

The problem is, you too are being held prisoner by an unseen captor. Soon you come to realize that the only way to escape is to help one another. But… who are you? Who is she? Why do you control both your fates? Is escape from this floating prison your only goal, or is there a more cryptic scheme?

This upcoming adventure title for Windows®, has a suggested retail price of $29.99 USD and the ESRB Rating is ‘T’ (Teen).

For more information, visit the game's webpage at The Adventure Company here.

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 01/25/08 04:17 PM

I just wanted to warn that the system requirements are pretty high for this game. I don't think the requirements listed on the TAC page are appropriate. The requirements given from Micro Application are much more accurate (2.0 GHz processor, 1 gig of RAM, and a 128 MB video card).

You can try the demo out for yourself. While it may seem to work on lower end systems, the game will not run without noticeable lag.

This is unfortunate for me, as I love the original concept of this game. The demo is really incredible. I haven't seen an adventure game this unique and interesting since Penumbra: Overture (which I also had problems running).

I have tried everything I could to get this demo to run and it just won't. So, there's no way I would ever buy a game that the demo wouldn't even play. I have bought games that the demos worked, but the game wouldn't (without a LOT of tweaking) but never the reverse.

Hey, if you remember looking at the Webpage for this one (demo) the specs/requirements say for OS/Vista (no mention of XP) so I assume it will only run on Vista.....not for me then.

Nevermind getting the demo to run , I can't get it to download.
When I click on the download button on the News page the download page comes up for an instant then disappears. Can some one provide me with a link to the download page?

Ispace, try the demo beside the game in the "Latest & Upcoming Adventure Games" section that you can go to on top of this page.

Tried it again last night and the download and the install were OK.

Hope it will work for you.

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 01/26/08 04:19 PM

Aha, yes. Well I went up top here, found demo download (more than 2 hours) and set it up to accept it and went to bed...naturally it was done when I got up this AM. Have installed it and 'launched' it and sat and watched the opening video/cutscene - it runs BUT it is like watching a movie but only one frame at a time - Marie moves with slow jerky movements and using my arrow cursor is tricky, takes forever to get it to where I want to click and then have to wait and wait and wait for its response or reaction. I got as far as wondering what my 'user name and password' are supposed to be and then I gave up, quit the demo. I guess I need the demo w/t to help me get familiar with the game. But if the whole full game runs like this on my computer I am not sure I want to attempt it. I am not sure what my acceleration settings are but all my other games are running correctly so maybe my computer is just to slow to handle this one. Anyone else have anything to say about their experience with the demo and how it ran on their machine? Thanks

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 01/26/08 04:37 PM

Hi Betty Lou. I guess this will be a game that we will have to look closely at the specifications of the game versus the one of our computer.

For some, the demo runs OK. For others, it goes like you said, one frame at a time. Why?????

Some work ahead for our techs. Maybe.

But who can tell how the game will run. Probably better than the demo.

In the past, we have seen bad demos, but very good games.

Good luck with the game if you buy it.

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 01/26/08 04:55 PM

One thing I did notice is that the Adventure Company's listed specs are lower than Microapplication's specs. I suspect that the Adventure Company's specs are only the bare minimum requirements and not the suggested requirements?

I just re-read the specs and unfortunately my laptop graphics card doesn't support pixel shader without some tweaking (with 3d Analyze). I'll have to "experiment" a little with the demo to see if I can get it to work. laugh

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 01/27/08 04:25 AM

I think the present video card that I have will prevent me from playing this game.I have an old FX5200 but I plan to upgrade to a Geforce 7900GS that is much faster and will probably allow me to play it w/o any problems. I also attempted the download and 2.5 hours later it timed out and I gave up.

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 01/27/08 07:01 AM

Tried one more time and this time I completed the download but like Betty Lou said the movement is slow and ackward but I still believe,as mentioned above, that my video card is too slow to properly run this game.I fully intend to buy this one but it will be on the back burner after I upgrade my video card. It seems like a very interesting game, love the concept.

Wow, I thought the demo was really really good actually! Well, not the demo per se perhaps but the game, the design... it looks mighty cool and original!
It works very smoothly on my computer, but I have a pretty new system so I'm not surprised.
It has gorgeous graphics and a really sophisticated control. I like it.

Love the avatar Necros - I met Jolene briefly once, she is very shy.
I am waiting for the review of this as am useless at games where you have to work machinery. Otherwise it sounds great.

Oh, you're very lucky, I wish I could meet her. blush I loved her in Enterprise and not only because she looked so hot but also because she did a great job as a Vulcan, T'Pol is almost as great a character as Spock and it's mostly because of her. She deserved the Saturn award. cool

Oh, and one more thing, this date is true for Europe too? I mean, the Uk and Eastern Europe too? I hope it is, I'd really like to play with this game. laugh

dragonuk44,

What type of video card are you using? I have an ole school FX5200 which causes the frames to lag too slow to make the game enjoyable. I plan an upgrade shortly which should solve the problem.

Can you let me know if upgrading helps. I have the same video card and the demo runs quite sluggishly for me also. The rest of my pc exceeds the requirements for the game.

If you can tell me how to send you my specs I guess we could compare or do you think the glitch forum would be more help ful.I would imagine the vidio card would make a differance my self .Can t realy say that I am up on these maters .It ran fine for me and as you say the rest of your computor is up to it so it seems so but dos nt this make it an expensive game .As I recall we had this with broken Sword and what if you go in options could nt you turn any thing of so it went better .

I can't even access the demo download site. When I click on "Download" I get a flash of a new screen and a download in the URL but then the whole thing disappears and I'm back to the first screen again. Have never seen this happen before.

Teresa, does your video card support Vertex and Pixel Shader 1.1? If not, the demo/game won't run. This is the problem I ran into as well. There is a work around (using 3D Analyzer to emulate pixel shading) but it's not ideal.

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 02/07/08 07:12 PM

Hi everyone,
I started the demo and didn't do much yet. But I'm confused with the multiple screens. It looks like the main action's going on the small screen, the other screen's showing the progress on the map. Is the whole game works this way?

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 02/07/08 07:59 PM

Red -- the game has shipped, but it always takes awhile for the games to arrive at the distribution centers and then to be sent to individual stores. It may be that the 17th takes into consideration receiving the game and then shipping it out to customers, with it arriving on or around Feb. 17th.

Re: The Experiment to Release February 5th, 2008 - 02/21/08 08:30 PM

I have just seen experiment 112 and would very much like to play it. I tried to download the demo before but it didnt work, so I assumed my system was not good enough. Today I managed TO SEE but not download the demo. Windows block it for security reasons. Question - the specs on the box I looked at only stated vista for playing I have xp and can now play the demo. Confusing to say the least. Any boomer playing on XP? I dont want to buy something I cant play so I would like other opinions. For info I have P4- Windows xp, 3191mb available, direct x 9c,Radeon x1650 video card 1 gbs memory with all the bells and whistles. PS It was available in Walmart.
