The new videogame publisher Iceberg Interactive today announced that it has acquired the worldwide publishing rights to the point-and-click adventure game for the PC, The Last Chariots of the Gods, from Austrian based developer Homegrown games. Based on the concepts from the bestselling novel “Chariots of the Gods” by Erich von Däniken, and other Paleo-SETI theories, players will be immersed in a world of ancient legends and modern day conspiracy.

Quote:
The Last Chariots of the Gods is a gripping point & click adventure that takes players into a dark world of ancient legends and present day conspiracy. Players take on the role of archaeology student Marcus Bauer, who is given a task by his late granduncle to prove his strange theories that the "Vimanas" described in ancient India Sanskrit were actually spaceships from an alien society. Being a skeptic, Marcus however soon discovers that there is more behind the ancient legends than archaeology cares to know or will admit. Following clues and rumours, he soon uncovers secrets that were hidden from mankind − secrets that would turn everything we think we know upside down. As he unravels the truth, those who would like to keep it buried close in. He gets the feeling that someone or something is working against him − a feeling that turns into fear and desperation as he discovers that we may not be alone and maybe never were.

• Thrilling & unique storyline as players take on role of Archaeologist Marcus Bauer in an “Indiana Jones meets Erich von Däniken" scenario

• Intuitive interface allowing immersing and engaging gameplay.
• Sophisticated NPC AI means that in-game characters act and respond in a realistic manner.

Sounds great! Off to google "Erich von Däniken."

From Wikipedia, von Däniken was:
Quote:
...one of the key figures responsible for popularizing the paleocontact and ancient astronaut hypotheses.

And this bit is interesting:
Quote:
He developed a theme park called Mystery Park in Interlaken, Switzerland, which opened on May 23, 2003 and closed on November 19, 2006.

I wonder if the game will have anything to do with the theme park? It just reopened last month.

It might be interesting, though it won't be the first adventure game that postulates alien visits to earth in the distant past.

Thank you for the news Carla. I read Erich von Daniken's book many years ago & it was a fascinating theory, so I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the ideas translate into a game! smile

Environment Manipulation, Hmm, sounds interesting. Aliens, well I'll look forward to some future screenshots for this adventure game. And vRay Technology, I never heard of that one.

I think I remenember a movie called Chariots of the Gods, but don't remember if it was based on von Danikens book. From the storyline the game sounds like one that I would enjoy playing.

thanks for the info Carla bravo

Yes Marie, there have been a couple of movies called Chariots of the Gods, and all inspired by the work by Von Daniken books.
Plus, I found out that a new film is in preparation with the same title, planned release 2012, and with the Theme Park just reopened that Becky mentioned earlier I don't think it's a coincidence!

This would be even better news if this relatively new adventure game publishers web site was working. I have been trying to connect to their site for the last few days and can't. Don't know how long it has been down before that. Anyone else having trouble with them? http://www.iceberg-interactive.com/

This game made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Not because I am excited to play it but because of the fact that I am leery about some of these new adventure games may be Casual games in disguise. Wanted to at least visit the publishers site to find out more and to appease my neck hairs. grin

Must be my security setting or they just don't like me. I use IE6 also so I have no excuses there. Guess I will have to mess around with the settings. Thanks for trying.

Hi,
It works just fine Explorer 8. Great story via the book. I also saw parts of the story on Discovery Channel, years back. Hope game is just adventure (no action, to speak of)as the action is getting to much in some adventure games.

Homegrown must look for a new publisher.

That was unexpected! It makes me wonder what is going on in the background. lol I know it's frustrating, but the protection of intellectual property rights is important too.
