For all Nancy Drew fans wave

HER INTERACTIVE KICKS OFF PRE-SELL FOR REMASTERED NANCY DREW: SECRETS CAN KILL

New Ending and Items added to Title that Launched Award-Winning Series

BELLEVUE, Wash., August 2, 2010 - In celebration of Nancy Drew's 80th anniversary, Her Interactive is re-releasing their first game in the award-winning adventure series, Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill. Pre-sell orders begin today at the Her Interactive website (www.HerInteractive.com). But, as with any good Nancy Drew mystery, all is not as it seems. Her Interactive also reveals the title will feature a brand-new ending, in addition to updated graphics, characters, puzzles, and other 80thanniversary-inspired items.

"Whether you played the original, or are looking for your first Nancy Drew game, this game has something for everyone," says Megan Gaiser, CEO of Her Interactive. "What better way to celebrate the anniversary of an icon than to revisit the game that started it all 12 years ago? Fans won't be disappointed with the full 3-D graphics, new puzzles, vintage Nancy Drew references and of course, a new ending to put a completely fresh spin on a classic gaming adventure."

When Jake Rogers is murdered and the killer escapes, Nancy Drew steps in to unravel the mystery and uncover the secret that was supposed to die with him. In pure Nancy Drew style, you must follow the clues, solve the puzzles, question the suspects - including a new one, and ultimately expose the culprit when all others have failed.

In addition to the game's new look, this Secrets Can Kill also features a completely re-mastered soundtrack that provides an even more immersive game-playing experience. Throughout the game, there are references to past Nancy Drew games and books, such as vintage artwork and game titles. Unlike the original, this re-mastered version can also be played on Mac computers. And, as a thank you to the fans, the developers included fan-created, Nancy Drew-inspired artwork to many of the game environments.

Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill REMASTERED will launch at retail on August 24th at a suggested retail price of $19.99, but pre-sell orders are being taken now at www.HerInteractive.com. The game is available in a dual format disc, playable on both Windows PCs and Apple Mac computers. The game is rated E10+ with Violence, Drug Reference.

I pre-ordered mine. Have fun!!

I enjoyed this game when it came out originally. I'm looking forward to the remastered version. The older Nancy Drews were real mysteries...with real sleuthing involved. I'm so tired of doing chores!!!! frown

I agree! Tired of the repetitive chores, too.

Hi JKEerie and gatsbygirl wave

I too played the original when it was first released, and I couldn't agree more. I'm really looking forward to some good old fashioned Nancy Drew sleuthing!!

There were a lot less "chores in the first few Nancy Drew games. I hope they don't stick some in the remastered version.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/06/10 05:44 PM

I've picked on ND recently, but this is one of the original games I have and won't sell. I liked the puzzles and storylines in the older games, wished they would update them, but why mess with a good thing?! I agree with Kaki's Sister, NO CHORES! If they're remastering it, I'll buy it.

How'd Ripper go, kjos?

Hi BubbaJake Just finished it yesterday. Off and on playing other games. Awful grainy and I clicked on the wrong ripper at the end of the game. Thanks for helping me along with the game.

Very good news! This was one of the few games in the series which I actually didn't bother to play because of the graphics, but now I can finally play it! laugh

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/07/10 06:55 PM

Oh! Another ploy to get you to buy a game twice!lol I will probably most definitely buy it on the promise of better graphics etc as I did enjoy it the first time around! smile

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/07/10 07:14 PM

I have not played the 1st game and what you guys say about less chores and more mystery sounds great. Hopefully they will stick to original gameplay.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/07/10 07:15 PM

This is also the only Nancy Drew game that actually involves a murder, if I recall correctly.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/08/10 11:06 PM

I have played many Nancy Drews, and I think that this game will be better than the first SCK, because in that one, you have to switch disks every time you go to a different place in the game, and the graphics will be 3-D and not 2-D!

I wonder if it has the slider puzzle in it. I rember trying to solve it finally had to get a save.

There is a slider puzzle on top of a wooden box, as seen in one of the trailers.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/09/10 07:18 PM

Thanks LadyLinda. I thought so. I hate slider puzzles I get stuck every time. I guess I will get the game anyway. Maybe somebody will have a save. Thanks

Hi, Richard!

That makes 2 of us lol ! Whenever I solve a slider puzzle, it's always by sheer accident because, even though I'm sure there is a strategy, I have yet to figure out what it is.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/10/10 07:42 AM

I have pre- ordered the game from herinteractive and it should ship this week. As for the slider puzzle I had trouble with it the first time but I can solve it now. I can't wait to see the new format! Usually there are 2 new ND games a year. This will be a welcome bonus! I am curious to see if the game will follow the original story line.

I'm with you Susie07! Hate those sliders!

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/10/10 05:13 PM

I love the older ND and wonder why they have changed from the mystery format.
They seemed to be geared to younger people but I don't think younger people are interested in Nancy Drew.
I saved all my ND games for my granddaughter but she's not interested. She's into action games.
Does anyone know of younger fans of Miss Drew or is HER missing it's market which is us the older mystery fans?
I'm very happy for a remake of 'Secrets Can Kill'

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/10/10 05:27 PM

Hi, cassadaga!

I think it's just the opposite. The original Nancy Drew games were geared towards much younger gamers, but things changed when older gamers developed an interest in them. The earlier game boxes read "For Mystery Fans 10 and Up". Now they read "For Mystery Fans 10 to Adult". I sometimes check out HerInteractive's message board, and the majority of posters are school age.

I was late to the party because I didn't discover Nancy Drew until about 10 years ago when I found a couple of jewel cases in "Future Shop" for $9.99. I read Nancy Drew books as a kid so decided to give them a shot, and I was immediately hooked. Of course, that meant I had to buy all of the ones I had missed because a new one was about to be released.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/10/10 05:50 PM

You have a point Susan. Walmart and Target both have Nancy Drew continually in stock, so someone must be buying them.
I'll have to check-out HerInteractive's message board and read some different reactions.
I also read all the books as a child and was late to discovering the games, so I had one great year playing one ND game after another to catch up to the present.
For the past few years I haven't bought a game after trying out the demo's. Too many sandwich bars and arcades!

The Her Interactive forum is loaded with teen girls. The games are quite popular with them.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/10/10 07:48 PM

Hi, cassadaga!

The only Nancy Drew game I really disliked was "Ransom of the Seven Ships", although the twist at the end almost made it worthwhile lol !

Like you, I'm not thrilled that a lot of time in the newer games is taken up with chores and making meals instead of snooping around, but I still look forward to the next release. You might want to give "Warnings At Waverly Academy" a try because that was a good game but, based on your comments, you may not like "Trail of the Twister".

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/11/10 12:32 AM

I really liked Treasure In The Royal Tower. That was one of my favorites. I tried to play the original Secrets Can Kill but had some kind of glitch with the game (don't remember what) and couldn't finish it. I will be interested in hearing how all of you like it.

I have been rushing out to buy the last few ND games and have been disappointed with them. The repetitive chores etc. have really been a drag. I was a HUGE Nancy Drew fan and still collect the books, so hope that the games get back into the mystery mode and less into the chores etc.

Of course, younger girls are their audience so, if they like it, we will have to put up with it.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/11/10 07:45 PM

i haven't played secrets can kill just yet.
Although i have played more than half of the Nancy Drew's i'm pretty sure the one with most action is going to have to be warnings at Waverly academy because
Click to reveal..
of the ending with Corine and the swinging axe
and because of all the sneaking and making snacks although the Ransom of the seven Ships with the swimming driving monkeys. All of them are pretty actiony (not a real word but who cares.)I am about to start on the secret of old clock any comments on that game would be nice i want to know what kind of things are in store for me and younger ladies like me are most likey to like stuff like nancy drew not the really young kids. btw im 17

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/29/10 06:50 PM

I have been playing a lot of casual games and ready to play a good adventure again. I am waiting for Runaway 3 to go down in price so was thinking about this Nancy Drew game because it was more mystery than chores. I have played one in a while because they have been a little too chore based than solving puzzles to figure out the mystery. What do you guys think that have boaght the remastered version. I have never played this one an at 19.99 that fits the budget better.
Posted By: Susie07

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/29/10 07:44 PM

Hi, ramona!

I played the original a few years ago, but didn't remember much about it (I now know why it was so forgettable lol ) so I was really looking forward to playing the remastered version. There are no chores to perform, very few puzzles to solve, and it only took me about 6 hours to play. I've played casual games that I downloaded from BFG for $6.99 that lasted longer than that and were much more enjoyable.

The graphics were excellent, there are 3 locations to explore, 5 characters you can interact with and you're also treated to the annoying background music from "Phantom of Venice" when Nancy was dancing. I realized the chores that were added in the later games is what extended the gameplay.

I was disappointed, but I'm sure there are lots of other gamers who enjoyed it. "Ransom of the Seven Ships" was previously my least favorite Nancy Drew game, but it just got bumped up a notch grin !

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/29/10 09:26 PM

Thanks Susie the input, for $20, I think I will pass with it being shorter that some of the casual games I play. If it ends up on BFG, I will pick it up then. I loved the series at first but it seems to not be as fun anymore.

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/31/10 12:37 AM

I picked up this game yesteday at Target and started playing it as soon as I got home. 20 minutes into the game when I went to "Maxine's", imagine my horror when I saw in the corner the dreaded "Barnacle Blaster" game. After this game nearly did me in in the "Haunted Carousel" I vowed never to go near it again.

But Her Interactive must have taken pity on us dexterously challenged gamers and made it a much more forgiving game. It's easier and apparently you don't have to win in order to continue the game. At least not in the early part of the game.

I wonder what other surprises lie ahead.....
Posted By: Susie07

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/31/10 02:05 AM

Hi, SuMac!

You'll be relieved to know that "Barnacle Blast" is strictly optional and you don't have to win or even play it to finish the game.

As for any other surprises, you'll just have to wait and see lol !

Re: Secrets Can Kill - Remastered - 08/31/10 03:07 AM

Hi, Becky!

lol ! I think the farthest I got was Level 6 or 7, but I found the mini games in some of the other Nancy Drew games to be much more enjoyable.
