Short ??

The thread about "long" games here on the Discussions Board board set me to thinking what had been the shortest PC Adventure Game (proper) I'd ever played rolleyes

Of course how long a game lasts IS relative to how fast a person play likes to play AND for how long at a time - but just thinking quickly, I would probably say Full Throttle from LucasArts would be one of the shortest I've played myself.

However, I'm sure people will come up with shorter ones grin

Some I thought are short games:
- The King Quest games
- The early Indie games like: The Arrangement, Derek, early Carol Reed games...
- the first Nancy Drew.
- educational games like Physikus, Pompei wave

Road to India was one of the shortest adventure games I've ever played. It was good while it lasted, though. smile

The first Delaware St. John game - The Curse of Midnight Manor. It was in two chapters, at about 2 hours playing time apiece. Good fun, though.

I didn't join the long game thread, since all of my favorite long games were already mentioned. grin However, Loom has not been mentioned yet, which I found to be very short. Nice, charming story, good ideas, but it was over far too quickly. It's a shame it never got any sequels.

Another game I found short for its time (it's certainly a lot longer than Loom wink ) is Overclocked. I loved the psychological theme and the idea of a disturbed protagonist, but it ended a bit abruptly, and I felt it was wrapped up too neatly. I would have liked to have played through more flashbacks and for the resolution to have been more psychological in nature. This is the reason I prefer Moment of Silence out of the two games, though Overclocked was still a great game overall. smile

The shortest game that sticks out in my mind for me was the City of Lost Children - I felt when it ended that it seemed like just one chapter!

Sophie's World took about an hour to get to the "end" but I was never really sure that it was in fact a game!

ARgh!!!! Tomer; the idea of finishing MYST in twenty minutes is almost sacreligious. It ushers in visions of electronic books, shortened versions of "Once Upon a Time in the West" and other modern sins. As for a short game, how about the newer game, HOTEL?

Venus,

I remember thinking that Loom was short too but at the time the graphics were top shelf.

The Les Manley games ( Lost in LA and Search for the King) were also on the short side.

Hey, this thread reminds me of the game Sterling's Gift. I had a problem near the end and needed help from the developer. I had to play the game over to the point of the problem and only playing the parts that triggered the story up to the point near the end seemed to last about 5 minutes. I was shocked.

More like 10 minutes, but I don't think it counts. If it did, there are many games that could be completed that way if they hadn't enforced triggers or blocked areas from exploration until you'd completed certain objectives.

I agree with Jenny, The Forgotten for me was really good but was soooooooo short. I even wrote and complained about that one.
