Bert Jamin - Rest in Peace - 02/17/17 03:51 PM

We received news from Adventurespel that Bert Jamin has left us to go to his last adventure this February 13.

He has been ill for several years now.
Bert has written quality game walkthroughs and reviews posted at his now closed website - gamesover.com.
Bert has been a close friend of mine as well as of GameBoomers since inception. He believed strongly in promoting adventure games and is helpful and kind to any who reaches out for his expertise and friendship. His ethic is unquestionable and his warmth is real.
Bert Jamin was one of the strongest promoter and supporter of Adventure Games during its infancy until the present.

I already miss you Bert. I am privileged to have known you.
With all my love,
Marita & GameBoomers

I am very sorry to hear this, and especially that he was sick for so long.
Bert's gamesover.com website was one of the first game websites I discovered. There were lots of good reviews and walkthroughs there and it was one of the best-looking, best-organized sites on the Internet.

Sad news indeed. I have known Bert and his work for so long, since before I even first joined Boomers ...

He was such a fluent, meticulous writer. His WT's are legendary and so beautiful. More importantly he was kind behind the scenes, always a loving and enthusiastic supporter of Adventure Games, their fans and developers.

I miss him. But I am so glad that I got to enjoy his work and his passion for the games for as long as I did.

Prayers and love to his many friends and his dear family.

My sympathy's also as another of what I consider one of the true adventure legends that wasn't a game maker has moved on. Makes one wonder what this passion of ours would have been like without the Bert Jamins of our world. Adventure Games are dying...literally. I Salute you Bert Jamin its been a wild ride.

Back in the early days of gaming, I remember often being transported to Game's Over when searching for a walkthrough for a specific game. I often ended up browsing Bert's very comprehensive site to look for titles of other games that I might find interesting. Bert was a true pioneer and a very good friend.

Re: Bert Jamin - Rest in Peace - 02/19/17 01:38 AM

Lela and I have missed him very much. We exchanged birthday wishes for a very long time until his vision got so poor. We conversed often with him for several years and then lost touch when both he, Lela and I started having health problems. I remember how we consoled each other when we lost our dogs. I believe his dog's name was Bear. Let's assume he is now back with Bear. Good bye old friend.

I also am very sorry to hear this. I used to use his walkthrough for Beyond Atlantis all the time. and when I tried the old Time Machine game, I used his walkthrough for that as well.

Re: Bert Jamin - Rest in Peace - 02/01/19 12:21 PM

Hi guys!

A little bit late perhaps, but I only stumbled upon this thread a couple of days ago.

I'm Bert's nephew, and just wanted to let you know that we are really moved by all the sweet memories and lovely stories about our uncle, brother and brother in law. It's really amazing to read that he was loved by so many people from all over the world. So big thanks from all of us, to all of you!

All the best and greetings from The Netherlands,

Tomas

Ps: Bill, the dog's name was indeed Bear (or Beer in Dutch). We also assume that they're back together now!
