I saw it for download when I went into Google, but I didn't know any of the sites. One was called good-old games--not GOG. Is this a point and click game? Is there anywhere I can buy it?

There are no legitimate sites where you can download the game.

You can find the game selling on eBay as well as places like Amazon Marketplace sellers.

Some folks have been able to get it to run properly on newer systems and others have difficulties, so no guarantees there unless you have an older computer to play it on. It seems to have a problem on Windows 7, for example, because it uses an old version of QuickTime and the "latest" QuickTime isn't fully backward compatible.

It is point and click. wave

Ditto what Marian said. Downloading from any of the sites offering it, is illegal. You can try to see if anyone is willing to part with theirs in the Trading Post or purchase off Ebay. I doubt it will run for you on any modern machine though.

We have a couple of people on the Glitches forum telling us that it runs on their Windows 10 systems, which is a surprise to me. Not sure why this would be, but there you have it. laugh

There is an eBay seller who configures old Windows 95/98 games so they run on modern computers. He includes the original game discs as well as a DVD with his custom installer.

He does offer Blackstone Chronicles.

Thank you all for your help. He is asking 39.95 US plus shipping and handling. Do you think it is worth that much?

You are paying not just for the game discs but also for his expertise in setting up the custom installer. He also offers technical support if you run into problems. If you have a question, he will answer promptly.

It is up to you if you think that's "worth it."

If you are able to set up the game in a Virtual Machine, maybe you can do that. If it completely blows your mind to try to follow instructions like these
***Metzomagic instructions for Virtual PC 2007***
then you're probably not going to be able to set it up yourself and the question becomes
"Do you want to play this game or not?"
"Is it worth $39.95 to you to play this game?"

Only you can answer that question.

So far online shops like GOG and Steam have shown practically zero interest in offering "updated" versions of old QuickTime-driven first person games like Blackstone Chronicles, so don't hold your breath for a download version.

Some of the eBay seller's games are less expensive than $39.95. I suspect the cost has something to do with how difficult it was to create the installer. His "Riddle of the Sphinx" installer was also $39.95.

I've also purchased several games from this seller, including Blackstone Chronicles. At first I wasn't going to because of the cost, but after sleeping on it, I decided it was worth it to ME because I really wanted to play the game again.

The game plays on my Windows 10 computer perfectly. My computer had Windows 8 at purchase, Windows 10 was an on line upgrade. Maybe that makes a difference, I do not know, just thinking out loud.

My wife bought this game for me a few years back for Christmas when I had Windows 7 & had no luck what so ever running it. I now have windows 10 but never thought to try it on my new PC. After seeing these posts I will try to run it. I'll let you know how I make out.
