9th November, 2018 – Richmond, UK: With First World War commemorations taking place across the UK, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe has commissioned a survey to find out how much the nation knows about the Great War.
The research of 2,000 people revealed that a fifth (20%) of people do not know which year the war begun or the year in which it ended (20%). Additionally, over a quarter (28%) of people can’t name the Battle of the Somme as a key event during the global conflict.
Just under half (49%) of people know that the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was one of the major causes of WWI.
The poppy as the national symbol of Remembrance is also incredibly important to Great Britain, yet nearly a third (30%) don’t know that the symbol comes from John McCrae’s now famous poem 'In Flanders Fields' - inspired by poppies growing across battle-scarred fields.
BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment UK PR and Marketing Director, Lee Kirton said, “Working on 11-11: MEMORIES RETOLD was a passion project for us. We wanted to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and allow gamers to experience the heartbreak and difficult decisions that had to be made. We hope through the power of the game we can help a new audience discover more about the history and the importance of WWI.”
Developed by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, Aardman and DigixArt, 11-11: MEMORIES RETOLD is an emotional adventure designed to retell the stories of life on both sides of the front lines 100 years ago. Players will control both Harry, a young Canadian photographer who has joined the war effort searching for adventure, and Kurt, a German engineer searching for his missing son. The world is brought to life through a unique painterly style, whilst the combined voice acting talents of Elijah Wood and Sebastian Koch as Harry and Kurt, and an orchestral score from composer Olivier Deriviere, guide players through moments of both peace and despair.
The emotional journey starts today. 11-11: MEMORIES RETOLD is out now on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC. To learn more about BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe please visit:
