UK, September 2nd, 2021 – Imaginary Friends Games have now proudly released their debut title, Shindig, on Steam and itch.io.
In Shindig, players embark on a short point-and click style narrative adventure to become their new neighbourhood’s low-key hero – by organising a rad party to cheer everyone up!
Come to the Shindig!
Players can choose their style from a range of options before heading out to explore a vibrant island setting packed with quirky animal characters and quaint hand-drawn environments. Designed specifically to be a wholesome, evening-sized adventure, Shindig invites players to mosey around their neighbourhood, help out the residents with their big boggles, laugh along to some very British humour, and enjoy some light puzzle-solving as they gather all the ingredients for a truly unforgettable party.
Features:
A colourful picture-book setting, accompanied by an original soundtrack stacked with bops, and full English voice-over*
A short narrative adventure with a diverse cast of characters, presented in point-and-click style – Shindig is about the length of a feature film
Players choose their look from a range of skin tones and hairstyles, and can select between a masculine(ish) and feminine(ish) player character voice
Cosy, low-stakes gameplay, and some light puzzle-solving
Idiosyncratic humour throughout – with a couple of silly songs, and a side-helping of real talk
A little, linear adventure with zero choice pressure and only one ending – the GOOD ENDING!
Independent controls for SFX, voice and music volumes, and a Closed Captions overlay option that calls out many non-verbal sounds for HoH players
From industry insiders to indie devs
Founded in 2019 by married industry veterans (previously of Nintendo, Sony and Codemasters) the Imaginary Friends Games duo have toiled for two years to learn art, animation, sound design, and myriad other practical nuts ‘n’ bolts skills to make Shindig, their debut indie game.
Martyn Maillardet, one of the co-founders, had this to say:
“We’ve spent years helping some amazing people make amazing games, all the while dreaming of one day making something ourselves. It’s been a long journey, but we’re
immensely proud of what we’ve created together, and can’t wait for players to meet our imaginary friends!”
With all voices, sounds, art, music and more made in-house (literally in the couple’s home) and featuring appearances from their two very beloved cats, Shindig is truly a home-grown, heartfelt indie adventure. Shindig is out now on Steam and itch.io for Windows PC.
