Announcing Garage: Bad Dream Adventure - 06/22/22 11:56 PM

You are thrown into a weird world by the machine Garage. Can you escape from it?

Check out the trailer here.

Quote
Garage - This weird machine is said to create a bizarre dark world by working on the subject's subconscious mind.
The player character is thrown into an enclosed world filled with sewage, with decaying wooden buildings and rusted metals.
And he discovers that his body has been changed into something in between a machine and a living creature.
He wanders around this structurally complex maze-like world in search of a way out.

"Garage: Bad Dream Adventure" was originally released as a PC adventure game in 1999. In this game, the player character enters his inner world through a psychotherapeutic machine. He is turned into an odd-looking biological machine and searches for a way to escape from that world. Because of its unique world setting, it is described as one of the top 3 warped games or bizarre games.

It is basically a mystery-solving exploratory adventure game. But it also has many RPG elements such as character development through body modifications and intricate fishing system. And the story questions the ambiguity of escaping from the world and staying in the world.

One of the features of Garage is its detailed world building. Elements like energy circulation, ecosystem and how the world came about are intertwined tightly, and are reflected in the game system, bringing to life the feel of the deep another world. The unique feeling of strangeness and anxiety surrounding the whole game, even though it is not a horror or depressing game, is created by these settings and system.

In this remastered version, almost all images have been retouched, videos have been revised using AI frame interpolation, user-interface and game balance have been improved, and new chapters, subquests and multiple endings have been added.

Happy Gaming!

Bizarre indeed ! According to Wikipedia :

Quote
1999 Horror game. The first release of this game was limited to 3,000 copies. The game's publisher, Toshiba-EMI, withdrew from CD-ROM publishing before further copies could be produced. Even in Japan, where the game was released, Garage is considered extremely rare, with only a few thousand copies in existence.

It is currently available on the internet due to members of the 4chan's /vr/ board finding it on auction and putting together the money to purchase and preserve it. The game's creator has resistance to republishing it, firstly because the "game balance" has changed, and secondly he does not own the rights to it. A Garage Private Edition went on sales in mid-2007, and quickly sold out. With permission of Tomomi Yuki Sakuba, the game was a repackaging of the first release.

In December 2021, Garage was released for iOS and Android devices

A Windows port is planned to be released on Steam on July 8th, 2022

Can't wait or can I.....I guess I will find out soon enough. What am I saying....I'll get it just because it looks so strange / different. Wanna try it! Amazing, those who want to play an almost lost game get the chance. Does not happen too often

Yes, Orion, it looks very much like Dark Seed. I like when games like this are resurrected. Thanks Ana!

Sounds like we would get along just fine oldbroad

Mikael.....GOG has done a great job, like you say, resurrecting older games. I'm sure we have all benefited from them. I have been after GOG for years trying to get to bring certain games to date. One was Dark Seed. So Far "NADA". I was able to play Dark Seed II on my 98 not too long ago, great game. Maybe someday.........

I put it on my wishlist but being so far behind in games that I've lined up to play, it will probably be a while before I would play it. I am very much looking forward to what you think of the game though. I do tend to squeeze games into my list (which is probably why I keep staying behind).
