The tangled history of Monkey Island’s most famous secret leads Guybrush Threepwood - intrepid hero, leather jacket salesman, mighty pirate - to embark on a new swash-buckling adventure through the Caribbean, determined to uncover the elusive secret once and for all.

I expect I won't be able to resist the temptation of a new authentic Monkey Island game but having watched the trailer I do still prefer the "old" graphics to this more "comic book" version of Threepwood and his cohorts.

Never satisfied, huh ??

Thanks Ana. I'm looking forward to this. its been a long time and I like the graphics in the new one. I am appalled that some gamers have left so many negative and mean things on his site that he is shutting it down! I mean really!!!

I am also appalled by the negativity, Winfrey, not because I think any game is perfect but because I can't believe what an entitled whiny bunch some gamers are. It doesn't matter what game it is, even the really good ones, they nitpick and complain and run it into the ground.

Thank you for the trailer, Ana. Like Mad, I prefer the way the older games looked, but I don't see why some people have to be so snide and nasty. They need to find something else to do with their time.

Wow, I can't believe I'm not alone Orion! I have still never played any of them either but I have all of them that GOG has to offer (and a couple on disc).

Have I missed something here? Who's shutting down what?

Anyway, I think that the graphics are rather congruent with the previous games, but more modern of course. But as usual, I would have liked to see more gameplay in the trailer.

While I understand that some people might have reservations about the new look (the style isn't exactly the same as in the earlier games), it's downright ridiculous to slam Ron Gilbert for not making a pixel art game. And let's not forget that the series moved away from pixel art already in 2000, with Escape from Monkey Island, even if Gilbert wasn't involved in that one. All the Monkey Island game have been state-of-the-art games (pixel art was high tech when the first two games were released).

Although a new Monkey Island game no doubt brings back memories for most of us on this forum, I'd prefer to consider this game a continuation of the series rather than a throwback to the early nineties. If I want to delve into nostalgia I can always replay the earlier games (and possibly will before I play the new one, but then I will play the remade, non pixelated versions).

Ron Gilbert doesn't need to ride on the retro wave to make an interesting game.

Oh, different graphics won't stop me playing any "real" Monkey Island game, Mikael, because the story quality and every other quality will still be there in spades.
And I am disgusted by the behaviour of these people who wouldn't know a true Adventure creating genius if one got up and bit them 🙄🙄🙄
