This isn't a HOG or Adventure... is it time management?

It's an adventure/strategy game. There are previous threads on it if it you want to read previous comments. They were also nominated for an award here.

Thanks Ana. I didn't download it yet because I wasn't sure what it was.

I think the review on Gamezebo describes it best.

GAMEZEBO REVIEW

I will definitely try it when I get home.

I played the demo when it came out and I feel it plays a bit like a strategy board game with a hint of adventure. BigFish considers it adventure.

Sounds intriguing-- can't wait for someone to tell us how they like or dislike it.

I tried it and think it is brilliant... not exactly right for me though. I suggested this game to my granddagghter who is 16 and a junior in high school. She still has the coupon I gave her as one of her Christmas gifts and she is excited about getting this game... and once she does, her friends will too.

It's mostly, I think, for the younger set, but it is brilliant.

In a way, I agree with you, NYLady, but I think it's just too much fun to pass up, and it's one I can share with my just 18 goddaughter, so I bought it. Some of the dialogue is hilarious, and it does have a lovely retro feeling.

Big Fish recently changed the description of the game. There was a big outcry on their forum against this game's supposed promotion of gang violence, bullying, and probably the defiling of kitten-angels. Which of course is entirely opposite of what the game is about.

Sure, it's a fantasy adventure about girls being bad, but your gang of girls never do mean things. There is a difference. Because of the original description, some club members were even threatening to quit Big Fish. Last time I looked there were 7 pages of controversy on one thread, and new threads keep popping up.

Fortunately, several members who played and liked the game came to its defense. One person went as far as to write a delightful description for Big Fish, because a majority agreed that the original text was not only misleading but cast the game in a mean light.

Big Fish ended up using that member's description.

Wow! Never would have thought it would cause such a stir. It's all in fun. I work in a high school and I have to say it's very realistic. I only played the demo but didn't see anything violent except for sassy comebacks and we can all use those sometimes. (Dang! Should have written them down!) smile

I did play the demo; found the graphics very mundane and movement from a look down-walk around difficult to follow. The story line seemed to follow the idea that unless one joins a "gang" or starts a "gang" then they won't fit in with "the big picture". The language leans towards abusive with lack of positiveness.
I did not find it a fun game and at times found I had no idea what was expected.

Keith, I love the game in concept but can't seem to figure it out. I keep getting the same taunts, and going over the same ground in my exposes. My girls are winning games but losing pips. We can't leave the schoolground.

I have just reached the point where Miss Fox defends Maximilian. Have talked to the detective, but no progress was made, Maximilian went to jail.

When the game pieces don't show who is at a spot, you can spend forever trying to find the person you are supposed to contact, or repeat the same action over and over (e.g. to escape the truant officer). I got the crowbar at one point, but now it's gone. Maybe I'm too old, but I'm just very confused.

How exactly do you progress in this game? (I was a huge defender at BF, even admitting I bought the game if for no other resason than to encourage the developer of this and similar content.) But I'd sure like to play it as well as defend it.

I'm at the wandering around stage also, Minxs, and I totally agree with you about helping a small developer gain ground. However, it is confusing, and at least one of the taunts doesn't make any sense at all, in the English language, at least.

I really don't understand the controversy, as it is clearly all in fun and period fantasy, but I think the term "gang" might have set it off. Clique might have been a better, and even more nostalgic word. The girls never do do mean things, as Keith said, and I also work in a K-8 school, and our 8th graders can certainly resemble these girls from time to time.

Overall, it's snappy and savvy, but obviously, it upset some folks, a lot. I wonder if it would have if it had been presented as a group of teen girls getting together to solve a mystery by using their collective "bag of feminine wiles." Maybe it's all in the presentation...

I am playing this game and enjoying it. Its refreshingly different after being flooded with so many HOG's lately. I don't find it at all offensive although I admit I'm pretty tolerant. I certainly remember some of the cliques at my high school being far meaner than these girls. I haven't found any swear words. The retort/counter retort game with is really quite mild.
