You are going to love this game, or maybe you already had the pleasure of playing it? I wish I had waited until after work to open it as now I don't want to go. I haven't played much as I have to get ready for work, but the little that I played........LOVE IT!! The graphics are awesome, HO scenes not to hard, not to easy. You can play expert or regular modes and the story so far got me wanting more. I am so excited. Thank you BFG for another great game. :yay12:

Is the game like Dire Grove? Or RTR ?

I bought the game this morning and have now played the whole afternoon. it's a great game, beautiful pictures, very good story and nice puzzles, not to easy, not to difficult. I have now arrived in a restaurant and that reminds me that I must stop playing and cook dinner. tonight I go on with this game.

Sounds like a good one then--games that keep you playing for hours without realizing it are the best :happydance12:

Can someone tell me the size of the game please?

I am on satellite internet so I must consider that too.

On the link to the game, it states under requirements you need 391 mb free on your hard drive so it is not too big. Dire Grove stated you need 614 mb free.

I'm tempted to get this game because I also bought the collector's edition of Dire Grove. I could have done without the extras for Dire Grove, but I mainly paid a premium just to get the game early. I'm hoping the extras in this game are a worth the extra cost as it isn't a mcf game.

I wonder what it means by "4 additional Adventure scenes." Does it mean 4 screens with adventure elements?

On a side note, I played Dire Grove 3 times. Once by myself, Once with my Grandmother, and Once with my 9 year old cousin. He was actually able to solve the Hunter puzzle and the Blacksmith puzzle with only a little help from me.

after you've finished the game you can play a new screen with 4 levels. if you do this right, you get extra content with music, wallpapers and a preview of the next Edgar Allan Poe game. you can find this all in the option extras.

Sorry Darlene03 but left for work and didn't see your post until just now. As I stated I really didn't play that much yet to really determine what it's like......the feel though is more like RTR I think more than DG...but I will let you know for sure once I play more......I don't think it's fair for me to make a comment until I at least have played a little bit more.

I bought the game and have just started playing so don't have much to say about it yet, but it's worth noting that this game's developers are the same ones who did Puppet Show: Mystery of Joyville (a game I enjoyed very much).

I am trying to determine if its worth $20.00 dollars....

Dire grove is a Great game & worth $20.00 for the extras...Although I bought the $ 6.99 version..

So I guess the similaires to RTR & Dire grove are not the same..

This is why I like demo's...There is no way to get a feel for the game without a demo...

So I have to rely on Boomer reviews or wait for the 6.99 version.....There really should be a demo for this version...

BFG-Guy said today on the Big Fish forums that they do plan on having trials for upcoming CEs but that it will involve a new Game Manager update that is being worked on. So, I believe we will see trials for CEs in 2010.

After I have a chance to play the game, Darleen, I will definitely post some impressions about it and whether I think the additional cost makes this a worthwhile purchase. I needed a nice relaxing game this evening and I splurged. I'm going to play the game on expert mode and try not to use any hints or help, and hopefully it will last me a good long while.

Could anybody tell me what 1 Game Update Available means. thanks

Having been burned a couple of times in the past I also will not purchase without a demo, so I was glad to see that the new Game Manager will include the opportunity to demo the $19.95 Collector's Editions, particularly since BFG anticipates releasing 1 or 2 such versions per month.

I intend to rely on my experience with the demo to determine whether to purchase the $19.95 enhanced value Collector's Edition immediately or whether to wait a couple of weeks to purchase the game at a reduced price and with reduced functionality - or, I suppose, not purchase the game at all.

It means that one of the games in your Game Manager has an update/new build. Did you buy the Samantha Swift game yesterday? An update for that game was released last night. You can download the update directly from the Game Manager, and it also gives you information, I believe, what the purpose of the game update is, so that you can choose to update or not.

I just bought Dark Tales and there is a update icon in the top left of the download. thanks Marion. Should I click on it?

That's interesting, Richard; I bought Dark Tales about three hours ago and I just checked my Game Manager and it doesn't show any updates. So, I don't know why that update is showing or what it is for, but I suspect that it certainly can't hurt anything to click on it and let it do its thing. It should give you some information after you click on it about what the update is for; let me know what it says, okay? I'm curious.

After I finishes downloading the game and the update disappeared. Thanks Marion.

Ok Darlene03 I played for awhile now and I still LOVE it. That being said, I don't really think it's like DG or RTR. I mean it plays the same in that it's an IHOG and the story is great and keeps you wanting to know more, but for some reason I just don't feel MCF here. That's not to say it's not a Great game in it's own right, because it is, I just don't want to compare it to either of them. I think it's worth $20.00 because I love a great game and like Marion, I needed something to play and this was it. I also splurged (Hey, it's Xmas, I deserve something). But I'm one of those that don't mind spending a little if I like it and want it now. That's just me and probably why I'm broke most of the time. I play my computer alot however so this is my outlet. Others spend alot of money on other things, I spend it on games. It's not like it happens all the time so $20.00 once in awhile for a good game is okay for me. Again, this is just me and I have no patience so I can't wait 2-3 weeks (again, probably why I'm broke most of the time). Anyhow, I hope this has helped a little. Again, I'm not the typical person and I pretty much do what I want so I may not be the best person to ask if it's worth the money or not. : )

I also just purchased the game. I have not even opened it yet but I hope it has video and voices in it like Dire. Guess I will find out shortly. Big relief others are saying it is a fun game. I loved the last Edgar Allan poe game and hoped there would be more.

I have started to play the game and the graphics are very crisp and clear and beautifully done.

However for those expecting another game like dire with voice and video alas thus far it does not appear to be this one.

I can 't but help wonder what the voice of the main character would have been like. I do hope BFG will do another collectors on the caliber of Dire.

Oh well, this is still a game I highly recommend, I already love the interactivity of finding and using objects. The storyline is intriguing also.

All casual games were 19.99 for years, maybe they should have left it at that. No one had any issues about that.

Hooray for you Tigre. Way to go. I feel the same. Some are still that much. Just check out The retail stores and other popular casual game sites.

I'm really enjoying the game and don't regret what I paid for it. I'm now in the Rue Morgue and the game gets more adventure-y as it goes along. Beautiful graphics and music; it's all very soothing.

Big Fish has been SO generous to me, and this month was a particularly good month in that regard. On top of two free games for the Novemberfest, I won another free game on the Big Fish forums and was also given a game credit for a game that didn't want to download properly for me--and I hadn't even bought the game! I was more than happy to give Big Fish an extra $13 for this new CE.

HIP HIP HOORAY Ana.....I so agree with all of you and maybe they should have stayed at 19.99 when no one complained then. I also am enjoying it immensely. I feel bad that Darlene03 may have taken my comments as negative, but that really was not my intent. The game is Great and I'm not even thinking about the 20.00 bucks, just the fact that I am playing an awesome game and having loads of fun. When you do get it Ana, you will enjoy it.

I agree with katbear. $20.00 for a casual game download is too much. When you buy it at a retail store at least it's on a CD. I started playing the caual games only becaues of BFG $7.00 price, otherwise I would continue only the full adventure games.

I have just finished Rue Morgue. It was a good game, I enjoyed it, but unfortunately I played it after just playing 3 Cards to Midnight and Dire Grove. It didn't stand up to those 2 games in my opinion...and as we all know, we look for different things in gaming. I found the puzzles too easy, and the added content did not "turn me on" so to speak. As I say a good game but if I'd played a trial I probably would have waited for the regular priced game. I loved 3 Cards and Dire Grove...I liked Rue Morgue.

What I appreciate about BFG is if you cannot afford or do not want to spend the extra money for the collectors edition you get the same game for the low BFG price minus a few perks.

Thank you BFG Guy! you could just sell the collectors edition and for those who cannot afford it,or who don't want to spend the extra money they would never know the joy of Dire or Edgar Allen Poe in the Rue Morgue.

However BFG Guy is not about greed it is about giving the gamers enjoyment especially in these hard times financially that multitudes around the world are experiencing.

The one thing I do wish is BFG Guy would let us accumulate our game credits and buy the Collectors edition.

Do you have to replay the game to get the bonus content.

It said your bonuses are here and I clicked ok, it just took me to the begging of the game again?

Flo when you are on the street facing the house don't click on play put the arrow on extras on the right side and go in.

I like that you either get collector's collection for me I prefer to get the game without all the foo foo with it. I figure what I save allows me to buy couple games not just one.

Finished the game and really liked it but I think the same as you, MysteryFantic. I could have done without all the foo foo at the end. I didn't think it was that great. Thanks

Hi everyone. I just bought this game and have been playing it for awhile, and I just had to post because it is SO gorgeous as far as the graphics go that I'm just on cloud nine.

I love these kind of casual games where there are such pretty graphics, plus a little taste of adventure thrown in. I don't know how they make these games but I'm happy they do--I'm a total convert to HOGs now!

Has anyone run into a problem with the game having previously loaded with no problems, and then all of a sudden not being able to load the game sucessfully? I have emailed BigFish, but was wondering if anyone else experienced this same problem. :holidays:

No, there is not an update button. I can get the game to load up to the screen where you choose to continue your game, and it either totally locks the computer or flips me right back to the game manager, like I had exited the game! This is the first time I have had a problem with a BF game- I am sure that their wonderful customer service department will have an answer for me soon!

I just wanted you all to know that I heard from Customer Service today- what a quick response. Alex suggested something I could do, with very clear instructions, and it worked like a charm. Once again, I can not say enough about Big Fish Games and the wonderful way they run their company and take care of their customers!
