Nancy Drew: Resorting to Danger - Help!

I am posting this for my mom, who is currently playing Nancy Drew: Resorting to Danger.

She got to a certain part of the game and it froze. When she re-started everything, it says she has 0 goals but cannot leave the room, nor has she performed what she was supposed to.

She says she is stuck in the lab where she is supposed to feed/treat the animals.

It sounds like she may need to start over. Has she checked the walkthrough to see if there is anything she missed that could get her out of the room?
