Thanks so much for that helpful list, Jenny. Now the question becomes: how many games of this series are in our Purchase History? laugh

Re: Mystery Trackers: The Fall of Iron Rock Collector's Edition - New HOPA on Big Fish - 04/18/19 07:18 PM

I've bought eight of them, 1-7 and 10, and played those.
I've demoed all but the three latest ones.

At one time I thought Four Aces was the best of them.
I'd have to replay to see if I still think so.

I remember liking The Void and Raincliff when I first played them, and being disappointed with Raincliff's Phantoms. I don't know if it wasn't as good as the original Raincliff, but at the time I played it I didn't think it was as good.

The first time I demoed Blackrow's Secret, I didn't purchase it because I didn't like the gimmick of the device you have to use where the batteries ran out every time you used it. Later I gave it another chance when someone (colpet maybe?) recommended it for the puzzles.

Is this the series where you have the little dog (called "Elf")?

This is indeed the series with the little dog named Elf.

I have every entry in the series except for this newest release and Mystery Trackers: Queen of Hearts. This is one of the few long series where I have nearly all of them.

Thank you, Marian! smile

I will be picking this one up if we have a good sale this weekend.

Thank you for the list, Jenny!
Hmmmm the number one void is "The Void" in my purchase history for this series..... lol I downloading the demo the other day but had trouble playing it. I also don't have #14 "The Mist Over Blackhill."

While I'm waiting for the next good sale, I'm playing New York Mysteries: The Lantern of Souls CE and enjoying it. sherlock

Thanks, Marian. There are a couple of really good games in this series, and half a dozen more that are runners-up, so I'm always happy to hear of a new one.

Played halfway through the Demo and it is a buy for me, too early to tell where it will rank in this series.

I finished playing the main game and it is a very good game, not as good as MT Black Isle, MT Four Aces and MT Paxton Creek which are worthy of replaying 2 more times, this MT game is at least worth replaying at least one more time.

For me, all 16. (I am finishing the Bonus Game on Iron Rock as we speak). The first one I played was in 2013.

The series is very uneven in quality/appeal, at least to me. I bailed on the Demo for five of them (Sample Notes: "way too easy to be fun; interesting, but too darned easy; too much like the last one; not engaging enough to buy").

Of the remaining games in the series, I ranked two of them in my highest category and they are marked for Replay. I rated five others as being on the next level down from Best (Sample Notes: "Genuinely difficult; predictable but good; a bit silly at times but excellent graphics; pretty good with pesky puzzles").
