Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/29/19 03:38 PM

This is one of quite a few games that were removed from the website a few months ago, unfortunately. This was the only game from the Grim Tales series that was removed.

Those who had already purchased the game prior to its removal will be able to download it from their Purchase History and play it.

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/29/19 05:54 PM

Any idea why they have removed so many games lately?

Does it have to do with a game developer or maybe the games won't run on Windows 10 or something like that?

Is there a list somewhere that shows what they've removed?

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/29/19 06:15 PM

Some of the games that were removed were newer, so it wasn't a Windows 10 issue (I don't think it was a Windows 10 issue with many or most of them). Maybe they weren't selling as well, maybe it had something to do with mobile versions, I really do not know. Most of the games were from developers that are still with Big Fish, although not all.

I have a copy of the list and can post it here. There are a few others as well, but this was the batch that was removed a few months ago:

Wow Marian. That was fast - and thorough! I didn't expect to see the list posted here, was just wondering if there WAS a list somewhere to look at smile.

I'll have to go through this to see which ones I have (just out of curiosity). It is weird though!

And yes, just taking a quick glance, some of them are quite new.

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/29/19 06:24 PM

I had a copy of the list on my desktop, so I was able to just copy and paste it here. I was revising the list while you were posting again.

The list was originally posted on another website and has been confirmed to be correct.

Googling shows me that some of these games can still be purchased online from one or more other websites. I won't name names, because I have not purchased from any of them and thus cannot recommend them with any certainty as I have no experience with them.

Thanks Marian for the list and the additional information. I have almost all of the games on the list. I've copied the list to a Word doc in case I want to look at it again sometime in the future.

Now I'm curious. Unless there is some cost to keeping those games why remove them? Does BFG pay licensing fees regardless of sales?

Being as they have been removed from the website, I imagine that you will get some kind of error message if you try to purchase them through the Game Manager. No harm in trying, though.

I don't have an answer to your questions, 8dognight. I wish I did.

On a Facebook forum for fans of Big Fish Games, many of us asked to please let us know in advance from now on if a purge like this is going to take place again; that way, we could buy titles that we were interested in before they went bye-bye. A representative from Big Fish said she would send this feedback to the appropriate team.

I was wondering about this, if there was an advance notice anywhere.

Question. How do you have games in your game manager if they have not been purchased already? Are they demos that were downloaded?

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/30/19 07:08 PM

I was assuming that my10 had demos in the Game Manager.

There were advance notices posted somewhere/sent out to some, but not to everyday customers of Big Fish.

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/30/19 07:22 PM

Thanks Marian. I've never downloaded a Big Fish demo so I don't know how that works in the game manager. Do they just stay there forever if you don't end up purchasing the game or can you delete them or something?

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/30/19 07:29 PM

they are demos i downloaded. i cant buy all my games like i would like to. so i down load them and play the 90 minutes or so wate ever they allow to be played. i will try and purchase one a little later in the month of sept

They stay in the Game Manager until you uninstall them. Why haven't you ever downloaded a demo? Just curious.

My10, I will be astonished if it allows you to purchase a game that has been removed from the website; in fact, I don't see how that would be possible. But as I said before, it doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks Sparkle. I was going to say "uninstall" instead of "delete" but then I thought, well, uninstalling a game still leaves the game in your manager, so I changed my wording thinking that the demo might still stay there even if you uninstalled it. I don't know why it would but...

I guess I just don't see a reason to download the demo. The game will either work or it won't (and maybe work through the demo but not later on). I'll like it or I won't, but I'll most likely play the whole game even if I don't like it much. Also, being so far behind in playing the games I have, I don't want to play a part of a game that I may never get back to for who knows how long. I once tried a demo of an adventure game because I wasn't sure I'd be able to play it due to motion sickness and the type of puzzling in it, but casual games don't cause those problems.

oldbroad: When you uninstall a demo in the Game Manager it disappears from the Game Manager.

BigFish does send out notices prior to deletion but only to affiliates. We aren't allowed to post it or give a headsup or we lose our affiliate status.

That's interesting that loss of affiliate status results if the information is given to the general public. Apparently they don't want customers to know about the impending deletions. They must have their reasons.

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/31/19 06:50 PM

Interesting, Marian. As you know, I maintain a database of all BF casual games I have Demo-ed or purchased, and my comment on each. Reading through that list of games deleted by BF, most of the deleted games were ones I passed on buying after checking out the Demo. The only exceptions were a few of the Sable Maze games (I played and liked three enough to slot them for future replay). It may be that they maintain an inventory of how many people buy each game, and simply are cutting the dead wood periodically? It would make sense.

I did not read every response to this thread, but am wondering if games that were deleted from the BF site would mean I could not go back and replay them? I assume the answer is "Yes, those would no longer be available for replay."

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/31/19 07:04 PM

Reenie, if the games are in your Purchase History, they will remain there and you can download and play them whenever you want. The losers here are people who were interested in playing these games but hadn't purchased them yet.

I also thought of the "dead wood" theory. I can't prove or disprove that, but it's certainly something to consider.

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/23/21 01:33 PM

The reason why it was removed and hard to find now, this is from an Elephant games customer rep (Me) I was wondering if you could help me, I am trying to download Grim Tales Threads of Destiny, via the Big Fish games website, and it's not allowing me to , I am looking for a download of the game can you tell me where I can get one or is the game no longer being offered or has been removed? (Them) "Thank you contacting Elephant games, my name is ____ (removed for privacy) How are you doing today? (Me) I am doing well thank you? How are you ? (Them) That is good to hear, I am doing great thank you, let's see to answer your question the Game was removed. (Me) Oh no, so cannot get a download or a copy anywhere, why was it removed and is it coming back at a future date? (Them) May I ask why you are so interested in the game ? (Me) I am playing the games and the story line for Threads of Destiny sounded interesting, I am bummed can't play it. (Them) Ah, I see, I cannot disclose details, but due to a lawsuit, In order to bring the game back we will have to change some details to the story line. (Me) Ah Bummer, so are you guys planning on rewriting it ? (Them) At this time, I do not know if it will ever be released again. I am so sorry that You were unable to download the game. Elephant games has many great games, perhaps one of those might spark your interest? (Me) I'll have to see which other game series would spark my interest smile Thank you for helping me. (Them) It was my pleasure Is there anything else I can help you with ?" (Me) No nothing else but thank you again, I hope at some point the game comes out again. (Them) Thank you again for contacting Elephant games have a great day. (Me ) You too and thank you again !

I contacted Elephant games awhile back and found the old chat log that I saved, however the game is now on steam, for those of you still looking for it, I just bought it myself now I have the complete series. FYI, Steam is also selling all of the games in the series in one bundle.

Thanks pkstracy, and welcome to GameBoomers.

Gamehouse still has the game as well - and it too is the Collector's Edition.

Thank you, Marian, I used this website for years, looking up walk throughs, but never joined the forum until I saw this thread of people asking about the game, I edited my post to put in the chat between me and a customer service rep from Elephant games about a year ago, I copied and pasted the chat log between them and I.

Re: grim tales threads of destiny - 08/23/21 02:38 PM

That chat log was a very interesting read! What puzzles me, though, is why it would still be available for sale on Steam and Gamehouse, given the reason for its removal. But obviously I don't understand all the ins and outs of such a situation as Elephant described.
