The meaning of "Fantasy Games" at BF?

The meaning of "Fantasy Games" at BF? - 01/11/22 11:56 PM

I got an ad from BF about discounted Fantasy Games, but I don't recall hearing of that game category before. So, I took a look and that category has all the same games (like the "Amaranthine" and "Nevertales" series, for two examples) that have always been classified as HO Adventures. Isn't there a risk of confusing buyers by creating multiple genre that still have the same mix of games in them?

I have seen this sort of "fantasy games" sale before. It's just another way of describing them in the hopes that it will pique the interest of players that might have overlooked some of these titles before. As for the possible confusion, it's always a good idea to keep a list of what games one has played. smile

Hi, Marian!

I keep a list in Microsoft Word of all the games I have purchased at Big Fish and include the price I paid if they were on sale or if they were free. If memory serves me correctly (and that's not always the case lol ), I thought I read that Big Fish won't allow you to purchase the same game twice, but I occasionally go through the list and download a game I haven't played for years but enjoyed. I just picked up "Crossroads: On a Just Path" in today's 65% off sale because I couldn't find another game I wanted during the last BOGO sale happydance. !

Marian, I thought that might be it. No harm in them trying.

I agree, Susan, that it really does help to keep a list! I keep a list as well, partly because I wasn't sure there was a protocol to avoid purchasing a game a second time but mostly to have a place to note really good games and slate them for replay. Over 750 games are on my list at this point, and about 700 of those I did purchase and play. (I did not purchase every game on the list because some were boring or buggy or graphically poor or too gory for my taste). The list includes a brief "Review," and all games are rated. It helps when seeing whether a series is maintaining initial quality or dropping off.

Hi, Reenie!

I hope someone can confirm one way or the other, but I'm sure I read here that if you try to buy a game from Big Fish you already own, you'll receive an alert. I must have at least 700 games, but some I've enjoyed so much that I've replayed them more than once. What a terrific idea to add your opinion of each game because, even though I enjoyed most of the ones I bought, there were a few stinkers among them lol . I always play the demo before buying, but I became so bored that I really had to push myself to finish them. If only I knew which ones they were grin !

It is true that if you try to buy a game from Big Fish you already own, that the system will tell you so.

However, there is one exception to that rule: the system doesn't distinguish between a standard version of a game and a Collector's Edition version; it sees the two iterations as the same game, so beware of that one exception to the rule.

Hi, Marian!

Thanks so much for the clarification ... and I'm glad I didn't dream it laugh !
