Sacred 2---Spoilers likely

Sacred 2---Spoilers likely - 02/03/09 05:13 PM

After being in contact with the Ascaron developers I finally got this game to run. I just started and it is an awesome game so far. thumbsup I chose to be a dryad since i love playing a ranged character. I just wish to obtain some more clothes soon. I'm blushing all over because of my skimpy clothes. redface

Now for some novice questions: Does anyone know if you can exit the game without saving? I let a companion die and I think that screwed up the quest.

Also, has anyone found a walkthrough yet? I haven't quite got my bearings yet. I also want to avoid picking up further companions before I am ready for them.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/03/09 06:02 PM

Rowan, what did you have to do to get it running?

I did not find an answer to leaving without saving but I found this from Oldman on a previous post:

Quote:
Maggie if you save and exit in Sacred 2 when you start again you are always returned to the last monolith you activated. If you have installed all the patches then you will have an option for a save anywhere with F9. If you get killed or activate a monolith after you save then you will lose that save and you will be again returned to the last one you activated.

I know several members have played it, so hopefully one of them will know the answer.

Edit: if all else fails, can you copy a previously saved game from the saved game folder before exiting?

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/03/09 06:14 PM

Row the only walkthrough I've found is here and it's not fully completed yet.

As you pick up armor from your fallen enemies you will get clothed. If you have the default settings your game should automatically equip your character as you pick up items.

Glad you finally got the game running.

Rowan- thumbsup

You can just hit Esc and then go off the game. It will take you back to your last save when you start up again.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/03/09 07:22 PM

Thanks, Maggie, I'll try that next time. Did you finish the game?

That's a big help, Oldman. Do you know if you pick up a companion accidentally if you can dump him/her and pick them up again later?

Looney, I needed a newer beta video driver. My Windows Updater doesn't recognize beta versions so they are not automatically downloaded/installed. I learned something the long hard way.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/04/09 03:44 AM

Rowan, are you asking about the quests where you have to escort someone? I was never able to tell them to wait for me once I agreed to take them. It seemed the farther I got in the game the more I had tagging along and half the time I didn't remember saying okay. lol

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/04/09 11:32 AM

Their armor sure doesn't cover very much does it?

I don't really like escorting anyone because as soon as I am not watching them they seem to die on me.

Can you pass a potion to them like in original sacred or can you heal them?

I have a Seraphim and a High Elf going so far.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/04/09 02:12 PM

Ana, I have had only one escort quest so far and the escort died. I had hoped that I could exit and reload to try again but it seems that the game saves itself upon exit. That was before Maggie's suggestion of using the Esc button but I haven't had the need to try that since then. The reason he got killed was that I am having trouble with the camera angle. At one pint I couldn't see around corners and now the angle has changed to a top down view and I can't seem to be able to change it. Adjusting the camera in the Options doesn't make much difference that I can tell.

I also came across a locked door in a cave. I was able to shoot a rat through the door but I couldn't open it. Does anyone know how to open locked doors?

I still have a lot to learn a about all those little gemlike things i keep collecting. They say to right click to use. I've tried that and it disappears. I don't know what it did but it seems to me that I wasted something. I also have a vellum scroll. have no idea what it is supposed to do. I'm afraid to right click it and waste it. It is the only one I've found. Another thing I haven't figured out yet are all the round empty buttons at the bottom of the screen. Do things pop into them automatically or do I drag something there? The manual isn't that clear to me.

Other than all that I am enjoying this very much.

I a a dryad at level 5.

When you have locked doors that usually means that there is a key somewhere. I think they are usually found on monsters in the area. Once you have the key it is used automatically and the door opens.

The slots at the bottom of the screen are filled by those round and triangle shaped gems which are called relics. My game automatically filled the slots as I found the gems but you can drag and drop them to replace the ones previously filled. You can put your mouse on the gem to see what it does plus you can hit alt when you put your mouse pointer on an object and it will show you what is equipped and what you're looking at. I'm going on memory here as I've taken a break from Sacred 2 and replaying Morrowind (again).

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/04/09 05:40 PM

VHL, when you click on a health potion you automatically heal your escorts too. You may need multiple potions but they will heal.

Rowan, I am not at home right now, but if you look at the printable keyboard layout in one of the patches I believe it has the camera buttons marked. You can change your angles to get in doors, (I want to say it is the WASD keys and then use the mouse scroll to zoom in or out.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/04/09 07:43 PM

Thanks BrownEyedTigre.

I think I am still not going to escort anyone.

Now I could be wrong but don't you drop stuff when you right click on an item in your inventory? I will check when I go back to the game. Just click on the hand at the bottom to pick it up again.
________________________________________________________________
I found out that you exchange what you are using (your weapons or whatever) when you right click in inventory.

So either right click in inventory to exchange or grab and drop in weapon spot or armor spot to use.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/05/09 03:05 AM

Today I filled my inventory for the firt time and had to dump some things. The big question is: How do you determine what is valuable and what in cheap for dumping purposes? The only time a price shows up is when you are in the merchant menu. This is a problem when you are in the middle of nowhere surrounded with dead kobold carcases and loot that doesn't fit.

Even when you are selling, how do you determine what is most useful? Do you go by the price, the level, or the bonuses on the weapon/armour?

I was also curious about the sets of armour that you could get. You get bonuses if you get a complete set. Has anyone found any parts yet for their character? I haven't and am now on level 7. This game reminds me much about Divine Divinity. It also had armour sets.

Another curious thing: has anyone noticed the 3rd "paragraph" in the green writing on the load screen? It is just a single line but it is always funny and different every time you load. broccoli

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/05/09 03:43 AM

I set my inventory to only pick up valuable items. Then I used the chests that are littered all over to store my goods till I wanted to trade. I am almost to the end and I have never purchased a thing so I learned I didn't need to sell a lot.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/05/09 12:04 PM

Yes that green writing is funny most of the time but yesterday it said something about doing something to the memory which I didn't find very amusing. Wish I had written down what it said because I can't remember the exact saying. I will the next time I see it!

If you are talking about the red chests BrownEyedTigre then yes those are your personal storage and they will appear in every major town or city.

I usually go by what an item has as to armor number or how much damage it has Rowan. Whatever I can't use I sell. If I can't use it yet then I store it in my chest for later.

I keep any pendents or rings or jewels because the Blacksmith can put it into your weapons or armor for more damage or protection. The armor or weapons will have one or more box shapes on it and that tells you that you can add the above.

I haven't found any sets yet but later who knows. Wonder how you know if you have a set piece? In Titan Quest I have several people that have sets and it seems its always hard to find that final piece.

Today I saw a line that was definitely funny to the developers. I think they enjoy teasing us while we wait. The line was: "Deleting unique items, please wait..." I almost heard my self screaming. "Nooooooooooooo!!!" I haven't seen the same line twice yet. It's different each time.

I'm at level 13 now and still haven't found any set pieces. If you look at the Wiki walkthrough posted above by oldman it describes special sets for each type of character. I wish they would tell when they show up...probably toward the end of the game.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/09/09 02:55 AM

I experienced a strange bug in the game. I was in a cave and became stuck on the ground near a wall. I couldn't move with the mouse nor with the WASD keys. I was worried that if I exited the game that it would save me in a stuck position and that would be the end of the game for me. However, when I exited and began anew I was outside the cave. I can't explain it but I was grateful and let out a big sigh of relief.

help I am need of advice please. I bought the best horse for my Seraphin it took alot of saving to get the $60,000 but finally I was able to ride into areas where walking was too dangerous for me. I was attacked and died something I had never done thus far at level 18. I appeared back to the last monolith save and I found out the hard way my horse was left behind when I died. smashpc

I am so bummed out I quit playing the game because there is no way I can enter into that dangerous area again on foot without dying.
sad

Here is my question, every time we die and have a mount will it remain in the area we died in? think I had assumed the mount would be ressurected also. Is there a way I can die and not lose my mount?

If I buy another horse what happens to my favorite horse if I could find it? How can I get my valuable mount to return to me? I looked in my inventory where the mounts are listed and it is empty.

Whistling doesn't do anything because where I died with the horse is very far away. thanks in advance for whoever takes the time to answer my questions. wave

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/09/09 07:23 AM

Hi Sherryah,

I'd say that your horse probably died when you did. Normally when you resume a game (or die and are returned to your last activated monolith (I think that's what it's called) then your horse is right there with you. So.............if your horse isn't there when you continue a game he probably died.

You can outrun enemies on foot in difficult areas. You might want to backtrack to areas you've already been and do more side quests to increase your levels. I don't know how far along you are but I always looked for anyone with a ? over their head and did all of those quests and got strong enough to handle the enemies ahead.

I would wait for any expensive horses because there will be a mount quest ahead where you can obtain a tiger and they are pretty strong and difficult to kill.

Need help with the mount quest give a holler.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/09/09 04:09 PM

I am level 17 and haven't come across a mount yet. I'm playing a dryad and I know they don't have horses or tigers to ride. I know they eventually get a type of lizard.

I've backtracked to explore some areas I've missed before and enemies are fairly easy at the moment. Those goblins are so annoying and cowardly. If I kill a few of them the rest crouch in the grass hoping I don't see them. Then as soon as I pass them they try to hit me in the back. The combo spells work great in a crowd.

Does anyone know when the armour set pieces start to appear? Haven't found a single one yet.
Posted By: oldman

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/09/09 05:48 PM

Rowan the set pieces seem to appear randomly. You may run accross them and not realize that they are a set piece. The names of the set items are in green. What I did was, as I would find them, store them in a chest until I had a complete set. They may not appear normally until the silver play after you've completed a game and are at level 35 or higher.

I used a cheat, after I had played through most of the characters that got nothing but unique items from every monster killed and in a short time had a complete set and all but one of another. The trouble with the cheat is that you get too much equipment and I had to revert back to normal after I got the items I wanted.

I did find a couple of the set items before the cheat at around level 15 or above.

Click to reveal..
The quest for the special mount is found in the northwest part of the map and, if you're following the main quest and most side quests you are usually at level 20 to 24 by the time you get to that particular side quest
if you want more detailed information ask and I'll look it up. (I think I have it saved somewhere)

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/09/09 10:10 PM

Thanks Oldman, I didn't know my horse could die! Please tell me where I can get the tiger mount for my seraphin? Also I just don't understand how to use the combo no matter how many times I have read the directions. Is there a more simple way for me to understand how to use it? On the left where the sword is ontop of the sheild in the big circle. Nothing is in the 2nd circle but I thought that was where a bow would go if I used one right?

last question I want to start another character but will it wipe out my level 18 seraphin by starting another game? Will the origional game still be saved?

Nice to hear from you.
Posted By: oldman

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/09/09 11:45 PM

Sherryah first you can go here for directions to the mount quest. (Click on the picture of the map and that will show you where to go)

As for the weapons slots you can put a weapon in each of the slots you mentioned and then you switch to whichever on you want to use.
The combo's are for combat arms. You use them by right clicking on your mouse.

If you start another character your old character is saved and you lose nothing. You can have several characters going and when you play that character you will pick up where you left off.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/10/09 07:03 PM

Thanks, oldman. I got my first set item randomly in a chest in someone's house. There was nothing special about the location and it wasn't part of a quest.

One of the quests led me to a rock concert. It was great fun. And the rewards were great, too.

I hope this isn't another bug: I levelled up to 18 and applied my points for the left side of the screen but I have 1 point remaining to choose one of the combart arts on the right side. There is a number 1 beside the slot I wish but I can't click on the rune. Nothing happens. In the meantime I still get the flashing sign because I haven't applied all my points but it won't let me apply the last one.

Big hug to you oldman. Now I am off to get the mount quest. I would rather have a tiger for my seraphin anyway. One more thing does anyone else have people walking in air I have a woman and a zombie guy that I have not been able to dump back into their town. I rescued the guy from the underworld but he and she I can't return.

However that is not the big problem, at least they can't die, it is the graphics have them walking off the ground high in the air! This must be a bug, does everyone have this happen? Am I missing an update to fix the bug? The only way to stop this is to save and exit and return to game. I never have a warning when it will happen.

Maggie, there is a slot in the armor section to which you can drag a shrunken head. I usually choose the one that offers the highest armor protection. I replace them once in a while as the levels increase. There may be other uses for them but haven't figured them out yet. All the trophies will have the word "trophy" in the name. I can't remember them all. They are small taking up only one square. So far I haven't found any use for them. I hope someone can clarify for what they are. Otherwise I would love to sell them to get rid of them if they don't give any bonuses that I am unaware of.

I think trophies require the alchemy skill. As I understand it they increase various skills temporarily when consumed. Right click on them and if nothing happens you either don't have the skill required or it's not high enough. I just sell them myself. think

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/15/09 04:35 PM

Sherryah, I'm not sure if what you say is a patch related issue. I patched my game for all available patches before I started and haven't any tag alongs walking on air. I did see a couple of people off the ground in one of the cities but it was just one or two and not all the time. Are these characters you describe part of an escort quest? If they are still tagging along then you haven't finished the quest yet. I had trouble getting rid of a group once because the circle showed a quest location but nothing was there. I entered and exited several times before someone appeared and then the quest was finished, and good riddance to the group. I rather dislike excort missions.

Alice, to level up you click on the flashing + sign. A skill menu appears on the left and you choose what you want and assign whatever skill points you have accumulated. If you selected a magic arts skill then another menu opens on the right and you get to choose a magic skill as well. Once you have some magic skills don't forget to make some magic combos and drag them to the circles at the bottom of the screen. They are a great assist when surrounded by a large group of enemies.

You can ignore people with conversation balloons. They are just your ordinary friendly people who are not really quest related. Do speak to anyone who has a question mark, exclamation mark, or any kind of trader symbol over their head.

Back to the fray.

OK Alice when you get the blinking to show you need to level up when you click it should open you character screen. (You can open it manually by hitting "C" key) You get a menu on the left side and you just click on the attributes (retangular icons) until you run out of points.

Sometimes you gain upgrades to your combat arms as well and the that menu opens up on the right side. On this menu there are triangular shapes to the right of each set of combat arms when you click on one of those triangles you will have some highlighted plus signs just click on whichever ones the game will accept until you use all the points.

Don't know if I explained it well or not. You can also open these menus by clicking on the appropriate area in the circle at the bottom right of the screen.

As Row posted the only icons you need concern yourself with over NPC's are those with "?" and those with "!".

If you can't read the conversation the results will show up in your journal once you've accepted or completed the quest.

Hope that helps.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/16/09 04:23 PM

Have managed to spend two or three hours in the game this afternoon.

Have come out of the game to query one or two things.

Is there a way to Pause the game? For example if someone comes to the door. I hit escape but all that did was place a small menu in the middle of the screen and my Seraphim continued to talk loudly. In the end I saved and exited.

Also, is it possible to turn the screen around by using the sides of the screen?

Lastly (I hope) has anyone written a walkthrough for Sacred 2?

Will be back - that is for sure. lol

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/16/09 05:48 PM

I haven't figured out a way to pause either. To turn the screen Use the A or D keys on your keyboard.
Posted By: oldman

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/16/09 06:29 PM

Alice there is a walkthrough of sorts here but it is not complete.
The game pretty much shows you the way to all quests anyway. The color blue is for character quests, Orange is for the main quest and white is for side quests.

When you look at your map, the orange circle is your main quest, the white circles are your side quests and the blue circle is your character quest. On your minimap in the top right corner of the screen the tringles indicate which direction each quest is in and are color coded to match the quests.

To get a triangle to show up on the minimap you go to your logbook ("L" by default) and highlight the particular quest and an appropriate colored triangle will appear on your minimap. The orange triangle always appears on the minimap.

I always talk to every NPC with a ? or ! over their head and get tons of side quests.

As far as pause, there is no in game pause if you hit the esc key you can go back to the game by hitting the esc key again.

Hope this helped. Enjoy crazy luck

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/17/09 01:41 PM

Rowan, depending on the character, there can be as many as ten chapters.

Know this because have spent time searching through Oldman's link passing the time until a neighbour's funeral cortage leaves. sad

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/18/09 01:50 AM

thanksThreads.

Can anyone explain the 2 color bars that show up on an enemy's name? There's one color bar above the name and one color bar below the name. I know the colors represent ice, magic, fire, poison, and physical. What I really need to know is do the bars tell me what kind of protection or offence I should be using? Which bar tells me what?

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/21/09 11:24 AM

Rowan - did you ever discover what the two colour bars meant?

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/21/09 02:51 PM

According to the manual, the small bar beneath the hitpoints shows the different resistances. Damage that can be inflicted shows up as a bar in the weapons attribute screen, or protection against them shows up under armor.

Re: Sacred 2 - 02/21/09 03:27 PM

I didn't find the maual too clear. I'm talking mainly about the hitpoint bar. There are colors on the top as well as on the bottom of the hitpoint bar. I think the top colors are what the enemy dishes out so you know what protections to use. However, it is the bottom colors that I'm not sure about. The manual says they are resistances. So does that mean you should be using those colors offensively against the enemy or that you should be using the color that is missing?

I just finished the Christmas Island quests. What a delightful side jaunt from the mainland. I really appreciate the creative attention to every detail here. It was like a trip to Grimm's fairy tale land.

Hi-

I am sorry to do another thread, but I need some answers. I am on the Seraphim Island, I am playing a Dryad. I am at the Seraphim Tower and Sophie says I should go up and talk to my friend and mentor. Well, every time I do there is no one there. When I come down, she just repeats it. Is going up there just for a Seraphim, since my character is not or what???

Thanks so much

I haven't played this yet Maggie, but according to the walkthrough it looks like there's another quest that you have to do first here. Have you done that one?

Nickie- grin

You must be talking about the two machinery parts, I have only found one part so far, is this what you are talking about? I killed the large beast in the lake before coming to the island.

Thanks

I haven't a clue about what I'm telling you, Maggie. lol As I said, I haven't played it, and I'm just trying to guess what you need from the walkthrough. If you killed the beast in the river, did you go back and tell the Chieftan about it? Did you talk to the Elves? Or are you even in chapter 4? laugh

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/03/09 04:14 AM

Nickie- grin

Yes, I talked to the Chief and let the Elves go after I talked to them and they were rude. I was told to go to the Island by the Elves, so I am there. You have to find machinery parts that Sophia tells you about, they are part of a Statue. Not sure what chapter, but am on the Seraphen Island.

Maggie I assume you're talking about the main quest. Seraphim island is a little confusing but exactly what is the name of the quest you're asking about? Your orange triangle on you minimap should show you the way to go. If you've completed all the talking to Sophia and the Librarian you should be looking for dragon scale armor and it should show Chapter V in your journal. If so, you need to go on a path to the right and behind the tower to a cave.

Anyway if you'll let me know exactly which quest it is your asking about I'll see if I can help you.

Oldman- grin

When my person first arrived on the Island, she talked to Sopia, who told her several pieces are missing to make up a Statue. One piece has been found, have not found the other one yet. So I am unable to go for the Armour yet. By the way, do you know who gives the Quest for the Armour? The Island is very confusing, I am trying not to get lost.

Thanks

Maggie, to review all the chapter quests open your logbook. Down the left side are numbered tabs, one for each chapter. Only the initiated chapters will show up. To check if there are any remaining quests click on the chapter tab and see if there are any unfinished quests (no green checkmark or red
X).

At the very bottom left of the logbook is a single tab for your dark blue quests the character specific quest. If you are playing as a dryad then the quests will be related to dryads. These quests span the entire game.

At the top of the logbook are 2 tabs, the left one is for all the quests, and the second one shows a list of the books you found. If you right click on books in your inventory they will show up here. Other than giving you background information, I am not sure of what benefits there are to these books. Does anyone know if there are bonuses associated with them or not? Has anyone actually read them word for word?

Thanks so much for that information. I have found 2 books so far and clicked on them, they do give alot of information. I do not know of any bonuses associated with them. Thanks so much for the information on the quests, I will see how I do today.

Thanks

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/03/09 08:18 PM

Maggie, the librarian is who you take the pieces to. If you still need one then, follow your orange triangles on your mini-map and it should lead you right to it. When you get both pieces the journal log should read like this

Hope this helps. happydance

I picked up book 4 in one of the Seraphem rooms as I call them. I will look for the second piece. I have also been given a quest to kill something, after a test of killing many, they were huge. So I have to do that to. I do not have book 1, I suppose I missed it before I came to the island.
L4L- grin I am still enjoying the game, could someone put spoilers on the title so we do not ruin it for someone.
Oldman- Thanks so much, you are a huge help. Did I miss the first book before the island??? think

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/07/09 02:20 AM

I just finished the game. I loved it! The only thing I was disappointed in was that I did not find all of the special armor (green). I found one or two pieces at most from various sets but never all of one complete set. The only complete set I got was the Christmas Island one but it was a quest reward. Are the special set pieces in certain locations or are they randomly generated?

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/08/09 03:19 PM

Does anyone know the answer to my special armor set question above?

Rowan, I haven't played this but hopefully, a vet will be by with an answer. wave

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/08/09 06:14 PM

They are definitely randomly generated. As a guess I'd say that a complete set is probably not gained until you play on the silver level. If you start a new game with your same character and choose silver you keep all your inventory, chest and stats so if you've saved parts of a particular set you can keep looking for the missing parts.

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/09/09 02:46 PM

Thanks, oldman. It is strange that one cannot get a complete set at any level. Is it true that if you die on the silver level that you have to restart the whole game?

I'm not sure but I think that you just go back to your last activated place. I haven't seen any remarks on the Sacred boards about this one way or another. You can set your game to pick up only items of certain colors (ie gold or above) and makes it easier to see if your getting set items or not. I guess the designers wanted people to hunt for set items and therefore made it harder to complete a set. Don't think I like that aspect. I would have preferred some special quests that got pieces of the sets as rewards.

Hi- grin

I went into some of the caves on the Seraphim Island, I got a quest to kill another big beast, which I did, I went back to the beast that gave me the quest and he has sent me into a swamp area to look for some people. I also got a really good amulet and another piece of Armour. I also picked up book 5, but still have not found book 1, have all but that so far and I think I am on level 5.

Hi-

I am on the spaceship in sacred 2, or it looks just like one. I have a long walk, very long and then I reach what looks to be an elevator, I take it and I go up some stairs and I am back at the elevator. Could someone give me some help on this, I am going in the right direction, and I can find no other areas to go into. Really need the help.

Thanks

Maggie I would need to know a little more info before I could advise you. headscratch

What chapter are you in? think It appears to be the final chapter.

Look on your map and see where the orange circle is. That's where you need to go.

If you're where I think you are then just go in the direction of the orange triangle on your mini-map and keep the wall on your left at all times and you will eventually get there. zombie

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/21/09 11:22 PM

Sometimes when at an entrance to a location such as a cave or small roon the camera only lets you see the wall. So if you are pushing forward with the mouse or "W" key then you are actually exiting again if you are facing the wrong way. If you want to see where you are going try to turn on the spot with the "A" or "D" keys to see which way you are facing.

Yes, I am in the last chapter, I have looked all over the room I enter after the elevator and can find no other places to go, my arrow is telling me to go that way. I will try the A and D keys tonight when I play and see what happens.

Oldman, grinI will look for the orange circle, but I am following the orange triagle, will let both of you know this evening.

Thanks so much to both of you

Re: Sacred 2 - 03/22/09 09:02 PM

Congratulations, Maggie! bravoI loved this game, too!

I'm currently replaying it on the silver level. Even though I thought I was fairly thorough the first time I am still finding new areas that I had missed. Last time I finished at level 42 but I am currently already on level 40 and am only about halfway through Ch 2. This is the first game I have ever replayed back-to-back. I've enjoyed it so much. One of the things I like is the fact that every cave and dungeon is different so there is never a chance of boredom.

I highly recommend this game to any Divine Divinity fans.
